Betsson Greek Cup: This is the new format of the competition in line with European competitions

The president of the Hellenic Football Federation, Makis Gagatsis, presented to the Professional Football Committee the proposed new format of the Betsson Greek Cup, which will be held in line with the League Phase standards of a European competition.

The Hellenic Football Federation is discussing a complete change in the conduct of the Betsson Greek Cup in the 2025/26 season, which will not resemble the current format at all. The president of the federation, Makis Gagatsis, presented the proposed format.

Specifically, they propose that it be held in line with the League Phase standards of UEFA competitions with the participation of professional teams (Stoiximan Super League, Super League 2).

First, a qualifying round will be held between the 17 Super League 2 teams (excluding the B’) and the Stoiximan Super League teams in positions 9-14. The teams participating in the playoffs 1-4 and 5-8 will participate directly in the League Phase.

How the qualifying round will be held

The 23 teams mentioned earlier will participate in this round. The matches will be played in single games and the home team will be the team drawn first. The 23rd team in the draw will participate directly in the League Phase, therefore 12 teams will advance from the qualifiers to the main phase.

The structure of the League Phase

The teams will be divided into five capacity groups. The first will be the teams 1-4 of the Stoiximan Super League, the second the teams 5-8, while the other three groups will be divided according to the positions that the teams ranked in their leagues this season.

Each team will play four games with teams from the four other groups. For example, the team in Group A will play one from Group B, one from Group C, etc. There will be a single ranking.

3. The best away attack

4. The most wins

5. The most away wins

6. The highest score during the 2024-2025 season

Playoffs

These are the teams that finished from 5th to 12th place. The teams in positions 1-4 will qualify directly to the quarter-finals. The teams will play based on their ranking in the League Phase.

The 5th will play the 12th, the 6th the 11th, the 7th the 10th and the 8th the 9th. The matches will be single matches and the home team will be the team that finished higher in the League Phase.

In case of a draw, we go straight to penalties, there will be no extra time.

Quarter-finals

In this phase, single matches will also be played. The home team will be the team that finished higher, while in case of a draw, we will again go to penalties, without extra time.

Pairs based on League Phase ranking

1st vs winner of pair 8th-9th

2nd vs winner of pair 7th-10th

3rd vs winner of pair 6th-11th

4th vs winner of pair 5th-12th

Semifinals

Double matches with overtime if necessary. Here too, the pairs go based on ranking.

2nd vs winner of pair 7th-10th vs 3rd vs winner of pair 6th-11th

Final

At OAKA with overtime and penalties. Typically the home team will be the team from the first semifinal.

Ο πρόεδρος της ΕΠΟ, Μάκης Γκαγκάτσης, παρουσίασε στην Επιτροπή Επαγγελματικού Ποδοσφαίρου το προτεινόμενο νέο format του Κυπέλλου Ελλάδας Betsson, το οποίο θα διεξαχθεί στα πρότυπα League Phase ευρωπαϊκής διοργάνωσης.

Η ΕΠΟ συζητάει μια ολοκληρωτική αλλαγή διεξαγωγής του Κυπέλλου Ελλάδας Betsson τη σεζόν 2025/26, το οποίο δεν θα μοιάζει καθόλου με το ισχύον format. Ο πρόεδρος της ομοσπονδίας, Μάκης Γκαγκάτσης, παρουσίασε το προτεινόμενο φορμάτ.

Συγκεκριμένα προτείνουν να διεξαχθεί στα πρότυπα της League Phase των διοργανώσεων της UEFA με τη συμμετοχή των επαγγελματικών ομάδων (Stoiximan Super League, Super League 2).

Πρωτίστως θα διεξαχθεί προκριματικός γύρος μεταξύ των 17 ομάδων της Super League 2 (εξαιρούνται οι Β’) και των ομάδων της Stoiximan Super League στις θέσεις 9-14. Οι ομάδες που συμμετέχουν στα playoffs 1-4 και 5-8 θα συμμετάσχουν απευθείας στη League Phase.

Πώς θα διεξαχθεί ο προκριματικός γύρος

Σε αυτόν συμμετέχουν οι 23 ομάδες που αναφέραμε προηγούμενως. Τα ματς θα διεξαχθούν σε μονά παιχνίδια και γηπεδούχος θα είναι η ομάδα που κληρώνεται πρώτη. Η 23η ομάδας της κλήρωσης θα συμμετάσχει απευθείας στη League Phase, επομένως από τα προκριματικά θα περάσουν στην κύρια φάση 12 ομάδες.

Η δομή της League Phase

Οι ομάδες θα χωριστούν σε πέντε γκρουπ δυναμικότητας. Στο πρώτο θα είναι οι ομάδες 1-4 της Stoiximan Super League, στο δεύτερο οι ομάδες 5-8, ενώ τα άλλα τρία γκρουπ θα μοιραστούν ανάλογα τις θέσεις που κατετάγησαν οι ομάδες στα πρωταθλήματά τους αυτή τη σεζόν.

Η κάθε ομάδα θα παίξει τέσσερα παιχνίδια με ομάδες από τα τέσσερα άλλα γκρουπ. Για παράδειγμα η ομάδα του Α’ γκρουπ, θα παίξει με μια του Β’, μια του Γ’ κτλ. Θα υπάρχει ενιαία βαθμολογία.

Κριτήρια ισοβαθμίας

1. Η καλύτερη διαφορά τερμάτων

2. Η καλύτερη επίθεση

3. Η καλύτερη επίθεση εκτός έδρας

4. Οι περισσότερες νίκες

5. Οι περισσότερες εκτός έδρας νίκες

6. Μεγαλύτερη βαθμολογία κατά την περίοδο 2024-2025

Playoffs

Σε αυτά συμμετέχουν οι ομάδες που τερμάτισαν από την 5η μέχρι και τη 12η θέση. Οι ομάδες στις θέσεις 1-4 θα προκρίνονται απευθείας στα προημιτελικά. Οι ομάδες θα παίζουν με βάση την κατάταξή τους στη League Phase.

Ο 5ος θα παίξει με τον 12ο, ο 6ος με τον 11ο, ο 7ος με τον 10ο και ο 8ος με τον 9ο. Οι αγώνες θα είναι μονοί και γηπεδούχος θα είναι η ομάδα που τερμάτισε πιο ψηλά στη League Phase.

Σε περίπτωση ισοπαλίας πάμε κατευθείαν στα πέναλτι, δεν θα μεσολαβήσει παράταση.

Προημιτελικοί

Και σε αυτή τη φάση θα διεξάγονται μονοί αγώνες. Ως γηπεδούχος θα είναι η ομάδα που τερμάτισε πιο ψηλά, ενώ σε περίπτωση ισοπαλίας θα οδηγηθούμε και πάλι στα πέναλτι, χωρίς παράταση.

1ος vs νικητή του ζευγαριού 8ου -9ου

2ος vs νικητή του ζευγαριού 7ου-10ου

3ος vs νικητή του ζευγαριού 6ου-11ου

4ος vs νικητή του ζευγαριού 5ου-12ου

Ημιτελικοί

Διπλοί αγώνες με παράταση αν χρειαστεί. Και εδώ τα ζευγάρια πάνε με βάση την κατάταξη.

1ος vs νικητή του ζευγαριού 8ου -9ου εναντίον 4ος vs νικητή του ζευγαριού 5ου-12ου

2ος vs νικητή του ζευγαριού 7ου-10ου εναντίον 3ος vs νικητή του ζευγαριού 6ου-11ου

Τελικός

Στο ΟΑΚΑ με παράταση και πέναλτι. Τυπικά γηπεδούχος θα είναι η ομάδα του πρώτου ημιτελικού.
