AEK - Panathinaikos 2-1

It was worth it, it broke hearts, but it got it! In a Hitchcockian way, AEK was crowned champion with an epic upset (2-1) over Panathinaikos thanks to a buzzer-beater by João Mario in the 93rd minute!

João Mario, the savior! The Portuguese midfielder came on as a substitute in the 86th minute of the Athenian derby and in the fifth minute of injury time gave AEK the 14th championship in its history, three years after the double of 2023! Three “turns” before the end of the Playoffs, the 2-1 over Panathinaikos and the 1-1 between Olympiacos and PAOK at “G. Karaiskakis”, brought the Union to the top of Greece with +7 from its pursuers!

Marko Nikolic kept 10 of the 11 players he lined up in the Avenue, with the classic 4-4-2, giving Luka Jovic a starting position instead of Zini along with Strakoša, Rota, Mukundi, Relvas, Pelio, Pineda, Marin, Coita, Pereira and Varga.

In the "green camp", the nine absences did not deter Rafa Benitez who changed the system from a three in defense to 4-2-3-1. Lafon, Calabria, Touba, Palmer-Brown, Kyriakopoulos at the back, as a "10" Tamborda in front of Kountouri and Tserin, Pantelidis on the right and Antino on the left, flanking Tetei.

Panathinaikos threatened first, AEK took the "baton"

The first moment of the Athenian derby belonged to Panathinaikos. Kyriakopoulos crossed, the ball passed through Tetei and the AEK defenders, Pantelidis "armed" from close range and Strakosha blocked in the 6th minute. Immediately after, Koita made the run and shot into Lafon's corner, which he cleared with excessive intensity for a corner.

The "greens" entered well, Pineda and Kountouris were... a blast on the axis for each team and the ball went "up and down". However, the "clear" chances were few, despite the static executions (foul or corner) of Marin and the actions of Tetei. In the 21st minute, Pereira avoided two opponents on the edge of the area, took the shot, but Lafon again had the "answer", while in the 28th minute he collected Pineda's shot. In the next minute, Marin passed the ball to Pineda, the Romanian went one-on-one with Lafon, but his counterattacks spoiled his control and the French goalkeeper ended the phase, with AEK looking nervous in the finals and not taking advantage of the momentum. In the 32nd minute, it was Tetei's moment to run into the open field, under pressure from Mukundi, without the shot being good, while in the 39th minute, Kountouris took measures and caught a strong one outside the area, forcing Strakosa to make a difficult low intervention. In the 41st minute, Lafon blocked Pereira's new attempt, while in the 44th minute, Relvas' header went wide. The half ended with Varga's goal after a "sweet" pass by Marin, but the Hungarian striker was barely flagged for offside. Furthermore, it should be noted that Pelios fell into the area and requested a penalty in the 44th minute.

The crowd was pushing AEK, Tetei "froze" Nea Filadelfia

Returning from the locker room, the two coaches did not make any changes. Tamborda crossed for Tetei in the 48th minute, but the Greek forward did not get the header from a good position. The "yellow and black" crowd wanted to push AEK, but Panathinaikos looked dangerous. Pantelidis warned twice, Enios moved up the lines and intensified its pressure, but the guests took the lead in the 63rd minute! Cherin shot impressively, the ball stopped in Strakosha's "G" and Tetei... hidden in the Union's defense wrote with a "fish" header the 0-1, celebrating furiously and creating a small tension in the corner with the crowd, but also Strakosha.

Zini's entry brought the... explosion to the "Allwyn Arena"

Marko Nikolic showed immediate reflexes and put Zini in the match instead of Pereira. AEK became more aggressive, with Angolezo going right and Koita on the left. The Moorish looked for his favorite shots, but the green defense was ready. In the 72nd minute, Touba caught up with Varga and immediately after (73rd minute) Zini set... fire to New Philadelphia! Pelion's cross went past everyone, Jovic asked for a hand from Tuba and Zini with acumen executed with one shot in Lafon's corner for 1-1. In the 77th minute, Zini found himself alone at the far post, but he managed to place it on... the post, in an unrepeatable phase of one of the top moments of the season that did not result in a goal!

AEK played the rest and Joao Mario gave them the championship!

Zini's chance somewhat stunned the field, Zaruri's shot in the 81st minute went wide of Strakosha's goal, reminiscent of Tserin's that stopped on the post before 0-1 and from then on, AEK left no room for improvement! Initially, Rota was unable to execute in front of a group of players and from close range Lafon caught up with Mukundi, in a triple phase in the 88th minute, while in the 90th minute not even Relvas' header went into the goal from close range. The "redemption" for AEK came in the fourth minute of injury time from Joao Mario, who took the ball from Jovic's header and executed from close range for the 14th championship of the Union!

Το άξιζε, έσπασε καρδιές, αλλά το πήρε! Με χιτσκοκικό τρόπο, η ΑΕΚ στέφθηκε πρωταθλήτρια με επική ανατροπή (2-1) επί του Παναθηναϊκού χάρη σε buzzer-beater του Ζοάο Μάριο στο 93’!

Ζοάο Μάριο, ο λυτρωτής! Ο Πορτογάλος μεσοεπιθετικός πέρασε ως αλλαγή στο 86ο λεπτό του αθηναϊκού ντέρμπι και στο πέμπτο των καθυστερήσεων χάρισε στην ΑΕΚ το 14ο πρωτάθλημα της ιστορίας της, τρία χρόνια μετά το νταμπλ του 2023! Τρεις «στροφές» πριν από τη λήξη των Playoffs, το 2-1 επί του Παναθηναϊκό και το 1-1 του Ολυμπιακού με τον ΠΑΟΚ στο «Γ. Καραϊσκάκης», έφεραν την Ένωση στην κορυφή της Ελλάδας με +7 από τους διώκτες της!

Ο Μάρκο Νίκολιτς διατήρησε τους 10 από τους 11 παίκτες που παρέταξε στη Λεωφόρο, με το κλασσικό 4-4-2, δίνοντας θέση βασικού στον Λούκα Γιόβιτς αντί του Ζίνι μαζί με τους Στρακόσα, Ρότα, Μουκουντί, Ρέλβας, Πήλιο, Πινέδα, Μαρίν, Κοϊτά, Περέιρα και Βάργκα.

Στο «πράσινο στρατόπεδο», οι εννέα απουσίες δεν πτόησαν τον Ράφα Μπενίτεθ που άλλαξε το σύστημα από τριάδα στην άμυνα σε 4-2-3-1. Οι Λαφόν, Καλάμπρια, Τουμπά, Πάλμερ-Μπράουν, Κυριακόπουλος πίσω, ως «10άρι» ο Ταμπόρδα μπροστά από Κουντούρη και Τσέριν, ο Παντελίδης δεξιά και ο Αντίνο αριστερά, πλαισιώνοντας τον Τετέι.

Απείλησε πρώτος ο Παναθηναϊκός, πήρε την «σκυτάλη» η ΑΕΚ

Η πρώτη στιγμή του αθηναϊκού ντέρμπι ανήκε στον Παναθηναϊκό. Ο Κυριακόπουλος σέντραρε, η μπάλα πέρασε από τον Τετέι και τους αμυντικούς της ΑΕΚ, ο Παντελίδης «όπλισε» από κοντά και ο Στρακόσα μπλόκαρε στο 6'. Αμέσως μετά, ο Κοϊτα έκανε την κούρσα και το σουτ στη γωνία του Λαφόν που έδιωξε με υπερένταση σε κόρνερ.

Οι «πράσινοι» μπήκαν καλά, ο Πινέδα και ο Κουντούρης ήταν... χάρμα στον άξονα για κάθε ομάδα και η μπάλα πήγαινε «πάνω-κάτω». Όμως, οι «καθαρές» ευκαιρίες ήταν ελάχιστες, παρά τις στατικές εκτελέσεις (φάουλ ή κόρνερ) του Μαρίν και τις ενέργειες του Τετέι. Στο 21' ο Περέιρα απέφυγε δυο αντιπάλους στα όρια της περιοχής, έκανε το σουτ, αλλά ξανά ο Λαφόν είχε την «απάντηση», ενώ στο 28' μάζεψε το σουτ του Πινέδα. Στο επόμενο λεπτό, ο Μαρίν πέρασε την μπάλα στον Πινέδα, ο Ρουμάνος βγήκε τετ α τετ με τον Λαφόν, όμως οι κόντρες του χάλασαν το κοντρόλ και ο Γάλλος τερματοφύλακας τελείωσε τη φάση, με την ΑΕΚ να δείχνει νευρική στα τελειώματα και να μην αξιοποιεί το μομέντουμ.

Στο 32' ήταν η στιγμή του Τετέι να τρέξει στο ανοιχτό γήπεδο, υπό την πίεση του Μουκουντί, δίχως το σουτ να είναι καλό, ενώ στο 39' ο Κουντούρης πήρε μέτρα και έπιασε έναν δυνατό εκτός περιοχής, αναγκάζοντας τον Στρακόσα σε δύσκολη επέμβαση χαμηλά. Στο 41' ο Λαφόν μπλόκαρε την νέα απόπειρα του Περέιρα, ενώ στο 44' η κεφαλιά του Ρέλβας πέρασε εκτός. Το ημίχρονο έκλεισε με το γκολ του Βάργκα έπειτα από την «γλυκιά» εκτέλεση του Μαρίν, όμως ο Ούγγρος επιθετικός υποδείχθηκε ελάχιστα ως οφσάιντ. Επιπλέον, να σημειωθεί ότι ο Πήλιος έπεσε στην περιοχή και ζήτησε πέναλτι στο 44'. 

Ο κόσμος έσπρωχνε την ΑΕΚ, «πάγωσε» τη Νέα Φιλαδέλφεια ο Τετέι 

Επιστρέφοντας από τα αποδυτήρια, οι δυο προπονητές δεν προχώρησαν σε αλλαγές. Ο Ταμπόρδα σέντραρε για τον Τετέι στο 48', όμως ο Έλληνας φορ δεν πήρε την κεφαλιά από καλή θέση. Ο «κιτρινόμαυρος» κόσμος ήθελε να σπρώξει την ΑΕΚ, αλλά ο Παναθηναϊκός έδειχνε επικίνδυνος. Ο Παντελίδης προειδοποίησε δις, η Ένωση ανέβασε γραμμές και έντεινε την πίεσή της, όμως οι φιλοξενούμενοι πήραν το προβάδισμα στο 63'! Ο Τσέριν σούταρε εντυπωσιακά, η μπάλα σταμάτησε στο «Γ» του Στρακόσα και ο Τετέι... κρυμμένος στην άμυνα της Ένωσης έγραψε με κεφαλιά «ψαράκι» το 0-1, πανηγυρίζοντας έξαλλα και δημιουργώντας μια μικρή ένταση στο κόρνερ με τον κόσμο, αλλά και τον Στρακόσα.

Η είσοδος του Ζίνι έφερε την... έκρηξη στην «Allwyn Arena» 

Ο Μάρκο Νίκολιτς έδειξε άμεσα αντανακλαστικά και πέρασε στο ματς τον Ζίνι αντί του Περέιρα. Η ΑΕΚ έγινε πιο επιθετική, με τον Ανγκολέζο να πηγαίνει δεξιά και ο Κοϊτά στα αριστερά. Ο Μαυριτανός έψαξε τα αγαπημένα του σουτ, όμως η πράσινη άμυνα ήταν έτοιμη. Στο 72' ο Τουμπά πρόλαβε τον Βάργκα και αμέσως μετά (73') ο Ζίνι έβαλε... φωτιά στη Νέα Φιλαδέλφεια! Η σέντρα του Πήλιου πέρασε απ' όλους, ο Γιόβιτς ζήτησε χέρι του Τουμπά και ο Ζίνι με οξυδέρκεια εκτέλεσε με την μία στη γωνία του Λαφόν για το 1-1. Στο 77' ο Ζίνι βρέθηκε μόνος στο δεύτερο δοκάρι, όμως κατάφερε να πλασάρει στο... δοκάρι, σε μια ανεπανάληπτη φάση από τις κορυφαίες στη σεζόν που δεν έγιναν γκολ! 

Η ΑΕΚ έπαιξε ρέστα και ο Ζοάο Μάριο της έδωσε το πρωτάθλημα! 

Η ευκαιρία του Ζίνι σάστισε, κάπως, το γήπεδο, το σουτ του Ζαρουρί στο 81' πέρασε δίπλα από την εστία του Στρακόσα, θυμίζοντας εκείνο του Τσέριν που σταμάτησε στο δοκάρι πριν από το 0-1 και έκτοτε, η ΑΕΚ δεν άφησε περιθώρια! Αρχικά, ο Ρότα δεν μπόρεσε να εκτελέσει μπροστά σε μια ομάδα παικτών και από κοντά ο Λαφόν πρόλαβε τον Μουκουντί, σε μια τριπλή φάση στο 88', ενώ στο 90' ούτε η κεφαλιά του Ρέλβας πήγε στην εστία από κοντά. Η «λύτρωση» για την ΑΕΚ ήλθε στο τέταρτο λεπτό των καθυστερήσεων από τον Ζοάο Μάριο, ο οποίος πήρε την μπάλα από την κεφαλιά του Γιόβιτς και εκτέλεσε από κοντά για το 14ο πρωτάθλημα της Ένωσης!
