AEK - Rayo Vallecano 3-1

The Union took the bull by the horns, leading 3-0, but Rayo Vallecano took advantage of a moment of inertia and qualified (3-1).

The pulse of the "Allwyn Arena" was incredible and the atmosphere was one of the best ever created by the AEK fans, while in the away corner, approximately 1,500 Madrid fans set up their own "party". The start of the match belonged to Rayo, as in the 6th minute, Isi Palathon shot from distance, the ball flew in front of Strakosha and fortunately for him, Raciu missed from half a meter! In fact, in the next minute, Alvaro Garcia stepped into the area, but the Albanian goalkeeper fell and blocked the shot. In the 10th minute, the Spanish winger tried his luck again from the side, but the ball went out of bounds.

AEK threw the first quarter into the... trash, but the rest was completely theirs! In the 12th minute, the lone Varga missed from a shooting position with a header after Rota's cross. Immediately afterwards, Pelios found Zini with a cross who turned and "thundered" Batalia for 1-0 in the 13th minute, setting "fire" in Nea Filadelfia! The "yellow-blacks" got... wings on their feet and closed the Spaniards in their frame, while in the 22nd minute they asked for a penalty for pushing Varga.

In the 27th minute, Inigo Perez's team lost their best player in the match, Alvaro Garcia, to injury, suffering another blow in terms of competition and morale. Then, Batalla blocked Kutesa's good shot in the 30th minute and three minutes later (33rd minute) Varga's new header was blocked. In the 34th minute, Koita "danced" the Rayo defense and won a penalty from Raciu, who knocked him over. Marin took responsibility and with a flawless execution made it 2-0 in the 36th minute, taking another step for AEK! Marko Nikolic's players persisted and won many set pieces, dramatically intensifying their pressure. Sometimes Batalla, sometimes Lejeune or Luiz Felipe "cleaned" the high passes, while in the 41st minute Marin's "thunder" was difficult to neutralize by the Argentine goalkeeper. In the last phase of the half, Mukundi's header ended up out of bounds. The water had... entered the groove!

Returning from the locker room, Enesoa again had its foot on the... gas! In the 47th minute, Koita did not execute a free kick well from an excellent position, but in the 51st minute the total score was equalized (3-3). Kutesa stepped into the area and dug "sweetly" for Zini who jumped to... God and scored 3-0 with a header over Batalla! In the 55th minute, Rayo lost their stopper Luiz Felipe to injury, but Inigo Perez's players did not give up and reduced the deficit to 3-1 in the 60th minute. Pedro Diaz stole, ran the counterattack, Isi Palathon cut through the "heart" of the defense and scored, beating Rota in a sprint.

AEK had to find a goal again to send the game, in the first phase, to extra time. In the 66th minute, Rota stole and turned to Zini, but his cross went "torturously" parallel to the goal! In the 70th minute, Varga "served" for Angolezo for a goal, but Lejeune controlled his header on the line. Fatigue seemed to be "bending" Kutesa and Zini, who were replaced by Marko Nikolic with Eliasson and Gacinovic, respectively. In the 81st minute, Lejeune also tried his luck with a strong free kick from the centre, which was safely cleared by Strakosha, maintaining the 3-1.

The crowd tried to push the "yellow and black" who had given everything they had throughout the match. A header by Mukundi and a shot by Koita did not threaten, while in the 88th minute Varga was found down in the area and asked for a penalty, with the VAR saying "play". In the six minutes of injury time, the Madrid team was the one who "touched" the goal in the 90+6', when De Frutos had the chance, but his shot stopped on the post, maintaining the final 3-1.

Η Ένωση έπιασε τον ταύρο από τα κέρατα, προηγήθηκε με 3-0, όμως η Ράγιο Βαγεκάνο εκμεταλλεύτηκε μία στιγμή αδράνειας και πήρε την πρόκριση (3-1).

Ο παλμός της «Allwyn Arena» ήταν απίστευτος και η ατμόσφαιρα μία από τις κορτφαίες που δημιούργησε ποτέ ο κόσμος της ΑΕΚ, ενώ στη γωνία των φιλοξενούμενων έστησαν το δικό τους «πάρτι» περίπου 1.500 Μαδριλένοι. Η εκκίνηση του αγώνα ανήκε στη Ράγιο, καθώς στο 6' ο Ίσι Παλαθόν σούταρε από απόσταση, η μπάλα έσκασε μπροστά στον Στρακόσα και για καλή του τύχη ο Ράτσιου αστόχησε από το μισό μέτρο! Μάλιστα, στο επόμενο λεπτό ο Άλβαρο Γκαρσία πάτησε περιοχή, όμως ο Αλβανός κίπερ έπεσε και μπλόκαρε το σουτ. Στο 10' ο Ισπανός winger δοκίμασε, ξανά, την τύχη του από πλάγια, όμως η μπάλα έφυγε εκτός.

Η ΑΕΚ πέταξε στα... σκουπίδια το πρώτο δεκάλεπτο, αλλά η συνέχεια ήταν ολοκληρωτικά δική της! Στο 12' ο ολομόναχος Βάργκα αστόχησε από θέση βολής με κεφαλιά έπειτα από τη σέντρα του Ρότα. Αμέσως μετά, ο Πήλιος με πλάγιο βρήκε τον Ζίνι που γύρισε και «κεραυνοβόλησε» τον Μπατάλια για το 1-0 στο 13', βάζοντας «φωτιά» στη Νέα Φιλαδέλφεια! Οι «κιτρινόμαυροι» έβγαλαν... φτερά στα πόδια και έκλεισαν τους Ισπανούς στα καρέ τους, ενώ στο 22' ζήτησαν πέναλτι για σπρώξιμο στον Βάργκα.

Στο 27' η ομάδα του Ινίγο Πέρεθ έχασε με τραυματισμό τον καλύτερο της παίκτη στο ματς, Άλβαρο Γκαρσία, δεχόμενοι ακόμα ένα πλήγμα αγωνιστικά και ψυχολογικά. Στη συνέχεια, ο Μπατάλια μπλόκαρε το καλό σουτ του Κουτέσα στο 30' και τρία λεπτά αργότερα (33') η νέα κεφαλιά του Βάργκα αντιμετωπίστηκε. Στο 34' ο Κοϊτά «χόρεψε» την άμυνα της Ράγιο και κέρδισε πέναλτι από τον Ράτσιου, ο οποίος τον ανέτρεψε. Την ευθύνη ανέλαβε ο Μαρίν και με άψογη εκτέλεση έγραψε το 2-0 στο 36', κάνοντας ακόμα ένα βήμα για την ΑΕΚ!

Οι παίκτες του Μάρκο Νίκολιτς επέμειναν και κέρδισαν πολλές στατικές φάσεις, εντείνοντας κατακόρυφα την πίεση τους. Πότε ο Μπατάλια, πότε ο Λεζέν ή ο Λουίζ Φελίπε «καθάριζαν» ψηλά τα γεμίσματα, ενώ στο 41' ο «κεραυνός» του Μαρίν εξουδετερώθηκε δύσκολα από τον Αργεντινό τερματοφύλακα. Τελευταία φάση του ημιχρόνου η κεφαλιά του Μουκουντί που κατέληξε άουτ. Το νερό είχε... μπει στ' αυλάκι!

Επιστρέφοντας από τα αποδυτήρια, η Ένωση είχε και πάλι το πόδι στο... γκάζι! Στο 47' ο Κοϊτά δεν εκτέλεσε καλά ένα φάουλ από εξαιρετική θέση, όμως στο 51' ήλθε η ισοφάριση στο συνολικό σκορ (3-3). Ο Κουτέσα πάτησε περιοχή και έσκαψε «γλυκά» για τον Ζίνι που πήδηξε στο... Θεό και πέτυχε το 3-0 με κεφαλιά πάνω από τον Μπατάλια! Στο 55' η Ράγιο έχασε με τραυματισμό και τον στόπερ Λουίζ Φελίπε, όμως οι παίκτες του Ινίγο Πέρεθ δεν πτοήθηκαν και μείωσαν σε 3-1 στο 60'. Ο Πέδρο Ντίαθ έκλεψε, έτρεξε την αντεπίθεση, ο Ίσι Παλαθόν έκοψε στην «καρδιά» της άμυνας και πλάσαρε, νικώντας στο σπριντ τον Ρότα.

Η ΑΕΚ έπρεπε να βρει, ξανά, γκολ για να στείλει το παιχνίδι, σε πρώτη φάση, στην παράταση. Στο 66' ο Ρότα έκλεψε και γύρισε στον Ζίνι, όμως η προβολή του πέρασε «βασανιστικά» παράλληλα με την εστία! Στο 70' ο Βάργκα «σέρβιρε» για τον Ανγκολέζο φορ, όμως πάνω στη γραμμή ήλεγξε την κεφαλιά του ο Λεζέν. Η κούραση φάνηκε να «λυγίζει» τους Κουτέσα και Ζίνι, τους οποίους άλλαξε ο Μάρκο Νίκολιτς με τους Ελίασον και Γκατσίνοβιτς, αντίστοιχα. Στο 81' δοκίμασε την τύχη του με ένα δυνατό φάουλ από τον άξονα και ο Λεζέν, το οποίο έδιωξε με ασφάλεια ο Στρακόσα, διατηρώντας το 3-1.

Ο κόσμος προσπάθησε να σπρώξει τους «κιτρινόμαυρους» που είχαν δώσει ό,τι είχαν σε όλο τον αγώνα. Μια κεφαλιά του Μουκουντί και ένα σουτ του Κοϊτά δεν απείλησαν, ενώ στο 88' ο Βάργκα βρέθηκε πεσμένος στην περιοχή και ζήτησε πέναλτι, με το VAR να λέει «παίξτε». Στα έξι λεπτά των καθυστερήσεων, οι Μαδριλένοι ήταν αυτοί που «άγγιξαν» το γκολ στο 90+6', όταν ο Ντε Φρούτος είχε την ευκαιρία, όμως το πλασέ του σταμάτησε στο δοκάρι, διατηρώντας το τελικό 3-1.
