Real Madrid demolished Asteras in Madrid (103-82) and secured at least 3rd place, paving the way for Panathinaikos for 7th.

Sergio Scariolo's team wanted a win to end the home advantage hypothesis and now awaits the result of Valencia against Dubai BC to see if they will finish 2nd or 3rd.

At the same time, Panathinaikos also wanted the Madrid team to prevail, which now, with a win against Efes at the "T-Center", will finish at least 7th, unless Paris gives them a gift in Kaunas with Zalgiris and ends up 6th.

For Asteras, Jordan Nuora led the way with 15 points, most of them in the first quarter, with Tsima Moneke adding another 14 (2/5 pts, 2/4 pts). Jimmy Butler (2/4 pts, 5 assts), Ebuka Izudu (4/9 pts, 7 rebs) and Ognjen Dobrich (2/3 pts, 2/5 pts) also had 10 points.

Asteras got into a rhythm, Real came out with a run and the lead

Nuora and Moneke in the 2nd minute put Asteras ahead 3-5, with the former having found a rhythm early on and with another 5 consecutive points sending the guests to +3 (8-11). Tavares and Okeke in the 5th minute reduced Real's lead to 12-14, with Carter with a three-pointer in the 6th minute taking the Serbs to +5 for the first time (12-17). The Madrid team reacted immediately and with a 4-0 run and Tavares made it 19-20 in the 8th minute, with Butler entering the equation and from the perimeter writing 19-26 in the 9th minute. Scariolo's team, however, responded with a new run, this time 8-0, led by Feliz (5 points) to close the quarter ahead 27-25.

The Serbs kept making mistakes and the Spaniards kept increasing the lead

Malendon, with a basket and a foul at the start of the second period, made it 11-0 for 30-25, with Deck making it 32-26 in the 11th minute. Butler was the danger for Asteras and after scoring one and... serving a three-pointer to Kalinic, the visitors reduced the lead to 32-31, with Miljenovic's new shot from the perimeter bringing the match to a tie (34-34) in the 13th minute. Lyles and Deck with 4 consecutive shots made it 40-36 in the 14th minute, with Asteras already having made 9 errors in the game, with Lyles in the 15th minute making it 42-36. The 10th error of the Serbs brought the three-pointer in the transition of Campazzo and the difference to 9 (45-36) for the first time. Somewhere there Nuora appeared again, who with 5 consecutive points reduced it to 47-42 in the 17th minute, with Hezonia with a three-pointer and Campazzo sending Real to a double-digit difference (52-42) in the 18th minute, with the Croatian after a magical assist from Campazzo making it 56-44 at halftime.

Two big three-pointers by Feliz and Yul threw Asteras' effort into the trash

Scariolo's team continued like this at the start of the third period, with Campazzo (13pts) and Hezonja making a mini 4-0 run and sending Real to +16 for the first time (62-46), with Moneke with a three-pointer in the 24th minute giving Asteras a breather for 62-49. McIntyre with his first basket of the match reduced it even further to 63-53 in the 25th minute, running 7-1, with Campazzo (16pts) breaking the Serbians' momentum with a three-pointer for 66-53. Hezonia (11pts) even with 2/2 shots in the 27th minute made it 68-53, with Asteras not letting the difference escape him again and with an 8-0 run and protagonist Moneke (10pts) bringing the game to 7 (68-61) in the 28th minute after the hour! Real seemed to be stuck in the attack, with Feliz and Yul however in one of their usual crazy buzzer beaters sending the difference back to 14 (77-63) and throwing it in the trash in Asteras' attempt to get back into the match

Real Madrid clears the 4th team and sends Panathinaikos to 7th place

The Serbs again had a mountain to climb in the fourth period, with Real Madrid once again having the mentality, with Malenton in the 32nd minute with a basket and a foul bringing the difference to 17 (82-65). Lyles' new goal-foul sent the difference to 20 for the first time (85-65), with the game now having a procedural character, since Scariolo's team had completely imposed its rhythm. Garuba in the 35th minute after a block with a dunk formed 89-67, with the final 103-82 giving the victory and the home advantage in the playoffs to Real Madrid and opening the way for the 7th place to Panathinaikos.

Η Ρεάλ διέλυσε τον Αστέρα στη Μαδρίτη (103-82) κι εξασφάλισε τουλάχιστον την 3η θέση, ανοίγοντας παράλληλα τον δρόμο στον Παναθηναϊκό για την 7η.

Η ομάδα του Σέρτζιο Σκαριόλο ήθελε νίκη για να τελειώνει με την υπόθεση πλεονέκτημα έδρας και πλέον περιμένει το αποτέλεσμα της Βαλένθια με την Ντουμπάι BC να δει αν θα τερματίσει 2η ή 3η.

Παράλληλα την επικράτηση των Μαδριλένων ήθελε και ο Παναθηναϊκός, που πλέον με νίκη κόντρα στην Εφές στο «T-Center» τερματίζει τουλάχιστον 7ος, εκτός αν του κάνει δώρο η Παρί στο Κάουνας με τη Ζαλγκίρις και βρεθεί 6ος.

Από την άλλη το σύνολο του Σάσα Ομπράντοβοτς περιμένει το τι θα κάνει η Μονακό, για να δει σε ποια θέση θα μπει στα play in κι αν θα είναι πιθανός αντίπαλος του Παναθηναϊκού στον δρόμο για τα πλέι οφ.

Η Ρεάλ καθάρισε το ματς από τα τέλη της δεύτερης περιόδου, με τους γηπεδούχους να πατάνε το γκάζι και τον Αστέρα να μην μπορεί να ακολουθήσει.

Πρώτος σκόρερ για τους Μαδριλένους ήταν ο Μάριο Χεζόνια με 19 πόντους (6/8 διπ.), με τον Φακούντο Καμπάτσο να προσθέτει άλλους 16 (2/3 διπ., 3/6 τριπ., 8 ασ.). Στους 12 ο Τεό Μαλεντόν (3/5 διπ., 5 ριμπ., 4ασ.), με τους Ουσμάν Γκαρούμπα (4/5 διπ., 4 τάπες, 4 κλεψ.) και Αντρέ Φελίζ (2/3 τριπ.) να έχουν από 10.

Για τον Αστέρα, πρώτος σκόρερ ήταν ο Τζόρνταν Νουόρα με 15 πόντους, τους περισσότερους στο πρώτο δεκάλεπτο, με τον Τσίμα Μονέκε να προσθέτει άλλους 14 (2/5 διπ., 2/4 τριπ.). Από 10 είχαν οι Τζίμι Μπάτλερ (2/4 τριπ., 5 ασ.), Εμπούκα Ιζούντου (4/9 διπ., 7 ριμπ.) και Όγκνιεν Ντόμπριτς (2/3 διπ., 2/5 τριπ.). 

Μπήκε ρυθμό ο Αστέρας, βγήκε με σερί και προβάδισμα η Ρεάλ

Νουόρα και Μονέκε στο 2' έβαλαν μπροστά τον Αστέρα με 3-5, με τον πρώτο να έχει βρει ρυθμό από νωρίς και με ακόμα 5 σερί πόντους να στέλνει τους φιλοξενούμενους στο +3 (8-11). Ταβάρες και Οκέκε στο 5' μείωσαν για τη Ρεάλ σε 12-14, με τον Κάρτερ με τρίποντο στο 6' να πηγαίνει τους Σέρβους για πρώτη φορά στο +5 (12-17). Οι Μαδριλένοι αντέδρασαν άμεσα και με σερί 4-0 και τον Ταβάρες έκαναν το 19-20 στο 8', με τον Μπάτλερ όμως να μπαίνει στην εξίσωση και από την περιφέρεια να γράφει το 19-26 στο 9'. Η ομάδα του Σκαριόλο όμως απάντησε με νέο σερί, αυτή τη φορά 8-0, με πρωταγωνιστή τον Φελίζ (5π.) για να κλείσει το δεκάλεπτο μπροστά με 27-25.

Δεν σταματούσαν τα λάθη οι Σέρβοι και να ανεβάζουν τη διαφορά οι Ισπανοί

Ο Μαλεντόν με καλάθι και φάουλ στην εκκίνηση της δεύτερης περιόδου πήγε το επιμέρους στο 11-0 για το 30-25, με τον Ντεκ να διαμορφώνει το 32-26 στο 11'. Ο Μπάτλερ ήταν ο κίνδυνος του Αστέρα κι αφού έβαλε ένα και... σέρβισε ένα τρίποντο στον Κάλινιτς, οι φιλοξενούμενοι μείωσαν σε 32-31, με το νέο σουτ από την περιφέρεια του Μιλιένοβιτς να φέρνει το ματς στα ίσια (34-34) στο 13'. Λάιλς και Ντεκ με 4 σερί βολές έκαναν το 40-36 στο 14', με τον Αστέρα να έχει φτάσει ήδη τα 9 λάθη στο παιχνίδι, με τον Λάιλς στο 15' να διαμορφώνει το 42-36. Το 10ο λάθος των Σέρβων έφερε το τρίποντο στο τρανζίσιον του Καμπάτσο και τη διαφορά στους 9 (45-36) για πρώτη φορά. Κάπου εκεί εμφανίστηκε και πάλι ο Νουόρα, που με 5 σερί πόντους μείωσε σε 47-42 στο 17', με τον Χεζόνια με τρίποντο και τον Καμπάτσο να στέλνουν τη Ρεάλ σε διψήφια διαφορά (52-42) στο 18', με τον Κροάτη μετά από μαγική ασίστ του Καμπάτσο να διαμορφώνει το 56-44 στο ημίχρονο.

Δύο μεγάλα τρίποντα των Φελίζ και Γιουλ έριξαν στα σκουπίδια την προσπάθεια του Αστέρα

Η ομάδα του Σκαριόλο συνέχισε έτσι και στην έναρξη της τρίτης περιόδου, με τους Καμπάτσο (13π.) και Χεζόνια να κάνουν μίνι σερί 4-0 και να στέλνουν τη Ρεάλ για πρώτη φορά στο +16 (62-46), με τον Μονέκε με τρίποντο στο 24' να δίνει μία ανάσα στον Αστέρα για το 62-49. Ο ΜακΙντάιρ με το πρώτο του καλάθι στο ματς μείωσε ακόμα περισσότερο σε 63-53 στο 25', τρέχοντας επιμέρους 7-1, με τον Καμπάτσο (16π.) να σπάει το μομέντουμ των Σέρβων με τρίποντο για το 66-53. Ο Χεζόνια (11π.) μάλιστα με 2/2 βολές στο 27' έκανε το 68-53, με τον Αστέρα όμως να μην αφήνει τη διαφορά να του ξεφύγει πάλι και με σερί 8-0 και πρωταγωνιστή τον Μονέκε (10π.) να φέρνει το παιχνίδι στους 7 (68-61) στο 28' μετά από ώρα! Η Ρεάλ φάνηκε να κολλάει στην επίθεση, με τους Φελίζ και τον Γιουλ όμως σε ένα από συνηθισμένα τρελά του buzzer beater να στέλνουν τη διαφορά και πάλι στους 14 (77-63) και να πετάνε στα σκουπίδια στην προσπάθεια του Αστέρα να γυρίσει στην αναμέτρηση 

Καθάρισε την 4άδα η Ρεάλ και στέλνει τον Παναθηναϊκό στην 7η θέση

Οι Σέρβοι είχαν και πάλι ένα βουνό να ανέβουν στην τέταρτη περίοδο, με τη Ρεάλ να έχει και πάλι την ψυχολογία, με τον Μαλεντόν στο 32' με καλάθι και φάουλ να πηγαίνει τη διαφορά στους 17 (82-65). Το νέο γκολ-φάουλ του Λάιλς έστειλε τη διαφορά για πρώτη φορά στους 20 (85-65), με το παιχνίδι πλέον να έχει διαδικαστικό χαρακτήρα, αφού η ομάδα του Σκαριόλο είχε επιβάλει πλήρως τον ρυθμό της. Ο Γκαρούμπα στο 35' μετά από τάπα με κάρφωμα διαμόρφωσε το 89-67, με το τελικό 103-82 να δίνει τη νίκη και το αβαντάζ έδρας στα πλέι οφ στη Ρεάλ και να ανοίγει τον δρόμο για την 7η θέση στον Παναθηναϊκό.
