Ricardo de Burgos Bengoecea has been appointed as the referee for Lyon-PAOK.

One of the best Spanish referees, Ricardo de Burgos Bengoecea has been appointed as the referee for Lyon-PAOK on Thursday for the Europa League.

The 39-year-old referee has never "whistled" a match of the Double of the North, but the Greek teams have three victories with him in the same number of matches: it was on 28/7/2021 in Neftchi-Olympiakos 0-1 for the Champions League qualifiers, on 25/3/2022 in the friendly Romania-Greece 0-1 and on 25/9/2025 in Young Boys-Panathinaikos 1-4 for the Europa League.

This year he was in Atalanta-Slavia Prague 0-0 for the Champions League, while he has also "whistled" eleven LaLiga matches.

His assistants on Thursday will be Spaniards Iker De Francisco and Ivan Maso Granado, the fourth will be Adrian Cordero, while the VAR will be Polish Tomasz Kwiatkowski with Spanish Carlos del Thero Grande as assistant.

Ο 39χρονος ρέφερι δεν έχει «σφυρίξει» ποτέ αγώνα του Δικεφάλου του Βορρά, αλλά οι ελληνικές ομάδες έχουν μαζί του τρεις νίκες σε ισάριθμα ματς: ήταν στις 28/7/2021 στο Νέφτσι-Ολυμπιακός 0-1 για τα προκριματικά του Champions League, στις 25/3/2022 στο φιλικό Ρουμανία-Ελλάδα 0-1 και στις 25/9/2025 στο Γιουνγκ Μπόις-Παναθηναϊκός 1-4 για το Europa League.

Φέτος ήταν στο Αταλάντα-Σλάβια Πράγας 0-0 για το Champions League, ενώ έχει «σφυρίξει» και έντεκα ματς της LaLiga.

Βοηθοί του την Πέμπτη θα είναι οι Ισπανοί Ίκερ Ντε Φρανσίσκο και Ιβάν Μάσο Γκρανάδο, τέταρτος ο Αντριάν Κορδέρο, ενώ στο VAR θα είναι ο Πολωνός Τόμας Κβιατκόφσκι με βοηθό τον Ισπανό Κάρλος ντελ Θέρο Γκράντε.
