Leaving behind the defeat in the first round of the Adelaide tournament, Stefanos Tsitsipas started his obligations at the Australian Open positively. Against Sidaro Mochizuki he won with 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 and qualified for the next phase of the first Grand Slam of the season.

The Greek tennis player's opponent in the next round will be Tomas Matsach, who earlier defeated Grigor Dimitrov with 6-4, 6-4, 6-3. A demanding obstacle for the 27-year-old, who will claim a ticket to the third round of the tournament.

One break was enough for Mochizuki

The match began with both tennis players holding their serves. The first to come close to... breaking his opponent's serve was Stefanos Tsitsipas. The Greek found a double break point in the fourth game, but saw Shintaro Mochizuki erase it and make it 2-2.

What the 27-year-old failed to do, the Japanese did and in the 7th game he took advantage of the opportunity given to... break Tsitsipas' serve (4-3). Then, the world No. 112 held (5-3) and was not threatened until the end of the set, as a result of which he took the lead in the match with 6-4.

After six lost break points, the Japanese player gave him a gift to equalize

The second set again found Stefanos Tsitsipas, first in the serving position. He took the game (1-0) and in the next one he lost six break points, with Shintaro Mochizuki equalizing. Then it was Mochizuki's turn to lose three break points and see Tsitsipas go with the lead again at the change of sides (2-1).

The Greek tennis player also reached a seventh break point in the set, which with a double fault by Mochizuki turned into... a break of serve. The No.35 in the world then maintained his service game despite the fact that he was again faced with a triple break point from his opponent. With 6-3, Tsitsipas took the set and brought the match to a draw.

With a dynamic start, he laid the foundations for the lead

Having very good momentum from the previous set, Stefanos Tsitsipas found a double break point in the first service game of Shintaro Mochizuki. This time, however, he made no mistake, achieving the long-awaited break (1-0).

The break was followed by a hold (2-0) and despite the threat of a break back from the Japanese in the 6th game, the Greek tennis player reached another break (5-2). With the balls in hand, Stefanos Tsitsipas closed the third set with 6-2 and took the lead in the match.

He dominated and booked his ticket to the next phase

In the fourth set, everything... seemed to indicate that Stefanos Tsitsipas' victory was a matter of time. He may have lost the first game, but then with a 5-0 series he found himself one game away from victory.

In the 7th game, the Greek reached a double match point but Mochizuki managed to hold on to the match. In the next game, things were easier for the No.35 in the world, who closed the game 6-2 and celebrated the victory.

Αφήνοντας πίσω την ήττα στον πρώτο γύρο του τουρνουά της Αδελαΐδας, ο Στέφανος Τσιτσιπάς ξεκίνησε θετικά τις υποχρεώσεις του στο Australian Open. Απέναντι στον Σιντάρο Μοτσιζούκι πήρε τη νίκη με 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 και πήρε την πρόκριση στην επόμενη φάση του πρώτου Grand Slam στη σεζόν.

Αντίπαλος του Έλληνα τενίστα στον επόμενο γύρο θα είναι ο Τόμας Μάτσαχ, ο οποίος επικράτησε νωρίτερα του Γκριγκόρ Ντιμιτρόφ με 6-4, 6-4, 6-3. Ένα απαιτητικό εμπόδιο για τον 27χρονο, ο οποίος θα διεκδικήσει ένα εισιτήριο στον τρίτο γύρο του τουρνουά.

Ένα break ήταν αρκετό για το Μοτσιζούκι

Η αναμέτρηση ξεκίνησε με τους δύο τενίστες να κρατούν τα σερβίς τους. Ο πρώτος που έφτασε κοντά για να... σπάσει το σερβίς του αντιπάλου του ήταν ο Στέφανος Τσιτσιπάς. Ο Έλληνας βρήκε διπλό break point στο τέταρτο game, ωστόσο είδε τον Σιντάρο Μοτσιζούκι να το σβήνει και να κάνει το 2-2.

Ό,τι δεν κατάφερε να κάνει ο 27χρονος το έκανε πράξη ο Ιάπωνας και στο 7ο game εκμεταλλεύτηκε την ευκαιρία που του δόθηκε για να... σπάσει το σερβίς του Τσιτσιπά (4-3). Στη συνέχεια, ο Νο.112 του κόσμου έκανε το hold (5-3) και έως το τέλος του σετ δεν απειλήθηκε, με αποτέλεσμα να πάρει προβάδισμα στην αναμέτρηση με 6-4.

Μετά από έξι χαμένα break points, με δώρο του Ιάπωνα ήρθε η ισοφάριση

Το δεύτερο σετ βρήκε και πάλι το Στέφανο Τσιτσιπά, πρώτο σε θέση σερβίς. Ο ίδιος πήρε το game (1-0) και στο αμέσως επόμενο έχασε έξι break points, με τον Σιντάρο Μοτσιζούκι να ισοφαρίζει. Μετά ήρθε η σειρά του Μοτσιζούκι να χάσει τρία break points και να δει τον Τσιτσιπά να πηγαίνει ξανά με το προβάδισμα στην αλλαγή πλευρών (2-1).

Ο Έλληνας τενίστας έφτασε και σε έβδομο break point στο σετ, το οποίο με διπλό λάθος του Μοτσιζούκι μετετράπη σε... σπάσιμο σερβίς. Ο Νο.35 στον κόσμο διατήρησε στη συνέχεια τα service game του παρά το γεγονός ότι ήρθε ξανά αντιμέτωπος με τριπλό break point του αντιπάλου του. Με 6-3 ο Τσιτσιπάς πήρε το σετ και έφερε στα ίσα την αναμέτρηση.

Με δυναμικό ξεκίνημα έβαλε τις βάσεις για το προβάδισμα

Έχοντας πολύ καλό μομέντουμ από το προηγούμενο σετ, ο Στέφανος Τσιτσιπάς βρήκε διπλό break point στο πρώτο service game του Σιντάρο Μοτσιζούκι. Αυτή τη φορά, όμως, δεν έκανε λάθος πετυχαίνοντας το πολυπόθητο break (1-0).

To break ακολούθησε ένα hold (2-0) και παρά την απειλή για break back από τον Ιάπωνα στο 6ο game, ο Έλληνας τενίστας έφτασε σε ακόμη ένα break (5-2). Με τις μπάλες στα χέρια, ο Στέφανος Τσιτσιπάς έκλεισε το τρίτο σετ με 6-2 και πήρε προβάδισμα στην αναμέτρηση.

Κυριάρχησε και έκλεισε το εισιτήριο για την επόμενη φάση

Στο τέταρτο σετ όλα... έδειχναν πως η νίκη του Στέφανου Τσιτσιπά είναι θέμα χρόνου. Μπορεί να έχασε το πρώτο game, όμως στη συνέχεια με 5-0 σερί βρέθηκε ένα game μακριά από τη νίκη.

Στο 7ο game, ο Έλληνας έφτασε σε διπλό match point αλλά ο Μοτσιζούκι κατάφερε να κρατηθεί στο ματς. Στο αμέσως επόμενο game τα πράγματα ήταν πιο εύκολα για τον Νο.35 στον κόσμο, ο οποίος έκλεισε το game με 6-2 και πανηγύρισε τη νίκη.
