Maccabi - Villeurbanne 89-82: Tamir Blatt took the people's team on his back and led them to victory with an exuberant double-double (video)
Tamir Blatt went on a rampage (21 points, 12 assists) to lead Maccabi to a hard-fought 89-82 victory over Villeurbanne in the EuroLeague opener.
A nice match took place on Thursday night (3/10) at Pionir Hall in Belgrade, where Maccabi will play its EuroLeague matches again this year. Odette Katas' team was pushed by Villeurbanne, but eventually prevailed 89-82 to get its first win of the year in the tournament.
The absolute star player for the people's team was of course Tamir Blatt. The Israeli international guard had a blast, achieving a double-double with 21 points (4/5 2-pointers, 4/4 three-pointers, 1/1 shooting), 12 assists, 2 rebounds, 1 steal and 2 turnovers in 28'51" of participation.
The fight
Offensive crescendo from both teams in the first part of the match (24-31 at 10' and 51-52, 20'). Blatt (11 points, 6 assists) and Lloyd (11 points) dragged the dance for Maccabi, while from Villeurbanne, Loverne (15 points) seemed unstoppable.
The two teams continued to go hand in hand in the score after the break (71-71, 30'). At 4'34" before the finale, the visitors found themselves at +5, after two shots by Malenton and a basket by Lovern.
The people's team found two long shots from Blatt and DiBartolomeo for 83-82 at 38'. The Israeli guard then dished out his 11th assist, only for Hord to nail it, making it 85-82 with 69" left. Blatt served up another final pass to Hord with 30" on the clock, and that's where the match was decided.

Ο Ταμίρ Μπλατ έκανε όργια (21 πόντοι, 12 ασίστ) για να οδηγήσει τη Μακάμπι σε δύσκολη νίκη με 89-82 επί της Βιλερμπάν στην πρεμιέρα της EuroLeague.
Ωραίο ματς έγινε το βράδυ της Πέμπτης (3/10) στη Χάλα Πιονίρ του Βελιγραδίου, εκεί που θα παίζει και φέτος τους αγώνες της στην EuroLeague η Μακάμπι. Η ομάδα του Όντετ Κάτας ζορίστηκε από τη Βιλερμπάν, αλλά τελικά επικράτησε με 89-82 για πάρει την πρώτη φετινή της νίκη στη διοργάνωση.
Ο απόλυτος πρωταγωνιστής για την ομάδα του λαού ήταν φυσικά ο Ταμίρ Μπλατ. Ο διεθνής Ισραηλινός γκαρντ έκανε όργια, πετυχαίνοντας double-double με 21 πόντους (4/5 δίποντα, 4/4 τρίποντα, 1/1 βολή), 12 ασίστ, 2 ριμπάουντ, 1 κλέψιμο και 2 λάθη σε 28'51" συμμετοχής.
