PAOK: Announced the agreement with Devonte Upson

PAOK's agreement with Devont Upson (31, 2.06m) became official as KAE announced the signing of a one-year contract.

The experienced American was acquired for the role of PAOK's main center next season and will compete for the first time in the Greek Championship. KAE proceeded to formalize the agreement stating that... "KAE PAOK mateco announces the agreement with American basketball player Devonte Upson, who will play for our team in the 2024-25 season. We welcome Devonte to the PAOK family.

Zwencyl Devonte Upson was born on March 23, 1993 in Augusta, Georgia, he is 2.06m tall and plays as a center. He graduated from Southern Louisiana College in 2015 with 10.7 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game and has been playing professional basketball in Europe since the 2015-16 season.

Started in Switzerland (14.6 points, 9.6 rebounds and 1 steal per game with Starwings Basket Regio Basel), continued in Finland (8.3 points and 4.9 rebounds with Helsinki Seagulls) and 2017- 18 played in Estonia with Rapla BS (10.9 points, 7.2 rebounds per game).

The following year (2018-19) he played in Poland with Start Lubin (9.7 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game), while in the summer of the same year he played in Argentina with Comunicaciones Mercedes (5, 8 points and 5.3 rebounds).

He returned to Poland for the 2019-20 season and with Asseco Gdynia averaged 7.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1 steal per game. In the middle of the season he moved to France, but managed to play just one game with Strasbourg before the league was suspended due to the pandemic!

In the 2020-21 season, he played in Italy and with Pallacanestro Trieste he had 7.3 points and 4.1 rebounds and the following year (2021-22) he played in Turkey with Merkezefendi (8.8 points and 6.7 rebounds) .

In the 2022-23 season he played in Israel with Hapoel Haifa (9.4 points and 5.7 rebounds), while at the beginning of last season (2023-24) he played again in Turkey with Buyukcekmece (8.7 points, 4 ,7 rebounds).

In February 2024, he moved to Kosovo and with Trepca, he won the championship and the Cup, with 8.2 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.

Επίσημο χαρακτήρα απέκτησε η συμφωνία του ΠΑΟΚ με τον Ντεβόντ Άπσον (31, 2.06μ.) καθώς η ΚΑΕ ανακοίνωσε την υπογραφή συμβολαίου διάρκειας ενός έτους.

Ο έμπειρος Αμερικανός αποκτήθηκε για τον ρόλο του βασικού σέντερ του ΠΑΟΚ την ερχόμενη σεζόν και θα αγωνιστεί για πρώτη φορά στο ελληνικό Πρωτάθλημα. Η ΚΑΕ προχώρησε στην επισημοποίηση της συμφωνίας αναφέροντας ότι… «Η ΚΑΕ ΠΑΟΚ mateco ανακοινώνει την συμφωνία με τον Αμερικανό καλαθοσφαιριστή Devonte Upson, ο οποίος θα αγωνιστεί στην ομάδα μας την σεζόν 2024-25. Καλωσορίζουμε τον Devonte στη μεγάλη οικογένεια του ΠΑΟΚ.

Ο Zwencyl Devonte Upson γεννήθηκε στις 23 Μαρτίου 1993 στην Augusta της Georgia, έχει ύψος 2μ.06 και αγωνίζεται στη θέση του σέντερ. Αποφοίτησε από το κολέγιο Southern Louisiana το 2015 με 10,7 πόντους, 7,4 ριμπάουντ και 1,5 κοψίματα ανά αγώνα και από την σεζόν 2015-16 παίζει επαγγελματικό μπάσκετ στην Ευρώπη.

Ξεκίνησε από την Ελβετία (14,6 πόντοι, 9,6 ριμπάουντ και 1 κόψιμο ανά αγώνα με την Starwings Basket Regio Basel), συνέχισε στη Φινλανδία (8,3 πόντοι και 4,9 ριμπάουντ με τους Helsinki Seagulls) και τη σεζόν 2017-18 αγωνίστηκε στην Εσθονία με την Rapla BS (10,9 πόντοι, 7,2 ριμπάουντ ανά αγώνα).

Την επόμενη χρονιά (2018-19) αγωνίστηκε στην Πολωνία με την Start Lubin (9,7 πόντοι, 6,4 ριμπάουντ και 1,1 κόψιμο ανά αγώνα), ενώ το καλοκαίρι της ίδιας χρονιάς έπαιξε στην Αργεντινή με τους Comunicaciones Mercedes (5,8 πόντοι και 5,3 ριμπάουντ).

Επέστρεψε στην Πολωνία για την σεζόν 2019-20 και με την Asseco Gdynia είχε 7,6 πόντους, 3,8 ριμπάουντ και 1 κόψιμο ανά αγώνα. Στη μέση της σεζόν μετακινήθηκε στη Γαλλία, αλλά πρόλαβε να παίξει μόλις ένα παιχνίδι με την Strasbourg, προτού διακοπεί το πρωτάθλημα λόγω της πανδημίας!

Τη σεζόν 2020-21, έπαιξε στην Ιταλία και με την Pallacanestro Trieste είχε 7,3 πόντους και 4,1 ριμπάουντ και την επόμενη χρονιά (2021-22) έπαιξε στην Τουρκία με την Merkezefendi (8,8 πόντοι και 6,7 ριμπάουντ).

Τη σεζόν 2022-23 αγωνίστηκε στο Ισραήλ με την Hapoel Haifa (9,4 πόντοι και 5,7 ριμπάουντ), ενώ στο ξεκίνημα της περσινής σεζόν (2023-24) αγωνίστηκε και πάλι στην Τουρκία με την Buyukcekmece (8,7 πόντοι, 4,7 ριμπάουντ).

Τον Φεβρουάριο του 2024 μετακινήθηκε στο Κόσοβο και με την Trepca, κατέκτησε πρωτάθλημα και Κύπελλο, με 8,2 πόντους και 5,3 ριμπάουντ ανά αγώνα».
