The impressive Tsitsipas "sealed" the derby (vids)
Stefanos Tsitsipas made an excellent appearance against Jordan Thompson, beat him with straight sets and qualified for the 2nd time in his career, in the 3rd round of the Wimbledon Championships.
There, in a very great derby, the Greek tennis player will face Nick Kyrgios, who a few minutes earlier, had made a scary appearance.
In his premiere in London, he may have struggled a lot against Alexander Richard (No. 188), but Tsitsipas raised his performance in the 2nd round match and did not leave the slightest room for doubt in court.
After two hours of play, the 23-year-old prevailed over the Australian and No. 76 tennis player in the world, with 6-2, 6-3, 7-5, achieved his 6th consecutive victory on the grass and returned to the "32" best of Wimbledon, after four years (2018).
Thompson fought hard, but he was no match for the No.4 seed. Tsitsipas now has a date with Kyrgios 🍿.

Gaining 58/76 points behind his serve and taking advantage of 6/11 break points, Tsitsipas left Court 1 of the All England Club unscathed, making his best appearance this year on the surface.
Thompson may have tried until the end, but Stefanos was determined enough not to get involved with sets extravagant sets.
In the 29 winners he stopped his count, in contrast to the 13 of the Australian, while he gained a total of 29 more points than his opponent in the match (103 against 74).
Thompson reached just two break points (1/2) throughout the match, with Tsitsipas returning from the 1-3 of the 2nd set and making it 2-0 with a series of five games won.
The No. 4 on the board will play in the "32" of the London Slam for the first time since July 2018, trying to get revenge on Nick Kyrgios, for his defeat a few days ago in the "16" of Halle (ATP 500).
The two of them have faced each other three times in the past, with the Greek-Australian counting an equal number of victories!

Ο Στέφανος Τσιτσιπάς έκανε εξαιρετική εμφάνιση κόντρα στον Τζόρνταν Τόμπσον, τον κέρδισε με straight sets και προκρίθηκε για 2η φορά στην καριέρα του, στον 3ο γύρο του Wimbledon Championships.
Εκεί, σε ένα πολύ σπουδαίο ντέρμπι, ο Έλληνας τενίστας θα αντιμετωπίσει τον Νικ Κύργιο, ο οποίος λίγα λεπτά νωρίτερα, είχε πραγματοποιήσει… τρομακτική εμφάνιση.
Μπορεί στην πρεμιέρα του στο Λονδίνο, να δυσκολεύτηκε αρκετά κόντρα στον Αλεξάντερ Ρίτσαρντ (Νο188), όμως ο Τσιτσιπάς ανέβασε κατακόρυφα την απόδοσή του στο ματς 2ου γύρου και δεν άφησε το παραμικρό περιθώριο αμφισβήτησης στο court.
Μετά από δυο ώρες αγώνα, ο 23χρονος επικράτησε του Αυστραλού και Νο76 τενίστα του κόσμου, με 6-2, 6-3, 7-5, πέτυχε την 6η συνεχόμενη νίκη του στο γρασίδι και επέστρεψε στους “32” καλύτερους του Wimbledon, μετά από τέσσερα χρόνια (2018).

Κερδίζοντας 58/76 πόντους πίσω από το σερβίς του και εκμεταλλευόμενος 6/11 break points, ο Τσιτσιπάς έφυγε αλώβητος από το Court 1 του All England Club, πραγματοποιώντας την καλύτερή του φετινή εμφάνιση στη συγκεκριμένη επιφάνεια.
Μπορεί ο Τόμπσον να το προσπάθησε μέχρι τέλους, όμως ο Στέφανος ήταν αρκετά αποφασισμένος για να μη μπλέξει με… παραπανίσια sets.
Στους 29 winners σταμάτησε το κοντέρ του, σε αντίθεση με τους μόλις 13 του Αυστραλού, ενώ κέρδισε συνολικά 29 περισσότερους πόντους από τον αντίπαλό του στην αναμέτρηση (103 έναντι 74).
Σε μόλις δυο break points (1/2) έφτασε ο Τόμπσον σε ολόκληρο το ματς, με τον Τσιτσιπά να επιστρέφει από το 1-3 του 2ου set και να κάνει το 2-0 με σερί πέντε κερδισμένων games.
Ο Νο4 του ταμπλό, θα αγωνιστεί στους “32” του Λονδρέζικου Slam για 1η φορά μετά τον Ιούλιο του 2018, προσπαθώντας να πάρει εκδίκηση από τον Νικ Κύργιο, για την ήττα του πριν λίγες ημέρες στους “16” του Χάλε (ΑΤΡ 500).
Οι δυο τους, έχουν τεθεί αντιμέτωποι τρεις φορές στο παρελθόν, με τον Ελληνοαυστραλό να μετράει ισάριθμες νίκες!
