Apart from the injured Pontense, the Portuguese of Olympiakos were not called by Fernando Santos either.

The mission of the Portuguese national team for the Euro became known. Fernando Santos did not include the injured Pontense in the mission, nor any of the internationals of Olympiakos (Sa, Semedo, Bruma).

At the same time, he left out William Carvalho and took the place of Palinia of Sporting Lisbon. Gedes, Nelson Semedo, were not included, while he took the leader and first scorer of Sporting, Pedro Gonzalves.

Εκτός ο τραυματίας Ποντένσε, δεν κλήθηκαν ούτε οι Πορτογάλοι του Ολυμπιακού από τον Φερνάντο Σάντος.

Γνωστή έγινε η αποστολή της εθνικής Πορτογαλίας για το Euro. Ο Φερνάντο Σάντος δεν συμπεριέλαβε στην αποστολή τον τραυματία Ποντένσε, ούτε κάποιον από τους διεθνείς του Ολυμπιακού (Σα, Σεμέδο, Μπρούμα).

Παράλληλα, άφησε εκτός τον Γουίλιαμ Καρβάλιο και πήρε στη θέση του τον Παλίνια της Σπόρτινγκ Λισαβόνας. Δεν συμπεριλήφθηκαν και οι Γκέδες, Νέλσον Σεμέδο, ενώ πήρε τον ηγέτη και πρώτο σκόρερ της Σπόρτινγκ, Πέδρο Γκονσάλβες.
