A big win in Monte Carlo for Panathinaikos (88-76), which locked the four and also took the difference from Monaco. Oscar-winning performance from Kendrick Nunn.
Panathinaikos won the right to give OAKA the possible fifth game of the EuroLeague playoffs on Thursday night (3/4), thanks to its huge away win over Monaco (88-76) for the 33rd matchday of the competition.
The greens climbed to 21-12 (13-3 home and 8-9 away), with Kendrick Nunn doing things and miracles on the way to the Alphonso Ford Trophy and the battle for the regular season MVP. Ergin Ataman relied on his team's superstar, with the American carrying everyone on his back (37 points, a career-high with 43 points in the rating system in 39:15).
Monaco fell 20-13 (11-6 home and 9-7 away), which fought for home-court advantage. Alpha Diallo, Jaron Blossomgame and Daniel Theis were the three who stood out, with Mike James far from his standards and Jordan Lloyd playing shortly after his injury.
The MVP
A magnificent performance by Kendrick Nunn, who dismantled his opponents in the most spectacular way. The American took few breaths in the forty minutes, was explosive throughout the match and closed the match with 37 points from 9/12 two-pointers, 5/5 three-pointers and 4/4 shots. The match
With Grant, Nan, Osman, Mitoglou, Gabriel, Ataman opened the match, which saw Tais score five points in the first two minutes and his own team count 6/8 two-pointers and 1/1 three-pointers until the first timeout. Panathinaikos had amazing creation, amazing efficiency, Nan wrote 21-29 in 9′ and 21-32 with a three-pointer at the end of the period.
The situation became even better for the greens at the beginning of the second, with Nan reaching 13 for 25-40, Ataman playing with Mitoglou at five and putting Sloukas for the first time at 27-44 in 15′. There, Monaco found the opportunity to get back on its feet. He ran a 14-5 run and closed the first half at -8 to keep the interest alive.
The home team's counterattack continued at the start of the second half, with Panathinaikos remaining scoreless for almost nine minutes until Nunn hit a three-pointer for 48-52 at 25′ and immediately after a four-pointer for 48-56 at 26′. The American megastar was on another level, he also hit a foul goal for 53-65 at the end of the third period, with the Monegasques feeling their legs were being cut off.
Okobo hit a big three-pointer for 69-74 at 36′ and the match caught fire, because Panathinaikos had slow attacks and poor executions. Grant gave the solution (69-76 at 37′) with a shot from mid-range, Nan made a difficult basket for 69-78 and the greens did the job x2. And they took the victory and the difference.

Το δικαίωμα να δώσει στο ΟΑΚΑ το πιθανό πέμπτο ματς των playoffs της EuroLeague πήρε το βράδυ της Πέμπτης (3/4) ο Παναθηναϊκός, χάρη στην τεράστια εκτός έδρας νίκη του επί της Μονακό (88-76) για την 33η αγωνιστική της διοργάνωσης.
Στο 21-12 ανέβηκαν οι πράσινοι (13-3 εντός και 8-9 εκτός έδρας), με τον Κέντρικ Ναν να κάνει πράγματα και θαύματα στο δρόμο προς το Alphonso Ford Trophy και τη μάχη για το MVP της κανονικής περιόδου. Με 13/15 σουτ (10/12 δίποντα, 3/3 τρίποντα) και με οκτώ ασίστ για ένα λάθος έκλεισε ο Παναθηναϊκός το πρώτο δεκάλεπτο. Στο ημίχρονο ο Ντάνιελ Τάις είχε 12 από τα 38 σουτ των Μονεγάσκων, με τον Μάικ Τζέιμς στους τρεις πόντους (1/6 σουτ) σε 15:59. Στο τέλος της βραδιάς ο ηγέτης των γηπεδούχων είχε 6 πόντους από 1/8 δίποντα, 1/6 τρίποντα και 1/1 βολή, με -2 στο PIR την ώρα που η ομάδα του σούταρε με 40.8% στο δίποντο. Με 62.8% εκτέλεσαν οι πράσινοι στο δίποντο, ενώ μοναδικός διψήφιος πίσω από τον Ναν ήταν ο Τζέριαν Γκραντ με 14 πόντους.
Ο αγώνας
Με Γκραντ, Ναν, Όσμαν, Μήτογλου, Γκέιμπριελ άνοιξε το ματς ο Αταμάν, που είδε τον Τάις να σκοράρει πέντε πόντους στο πρώτο δίλεπτο και τη δική του ομάδα να μετράει 6/8 δίποντα και 1/1 τρίποντο μέχρι το πρώτο timeout. Ο Παναθηναϊκός είχε εκπληκτική δημιουργία, εκπληκτική αποτελεσματικότητα, ο Ναν έγραψε το 21-29 στο 9′ και το 21-32 με τρίποντο στην εκπνοή της περιόδου.
Η κατάσταση έγινε ακόμη καλύτερη για τους πράσινους στο ξεκίνημα της δεύτερης, με τον Ναν να φτάνει τους 13 για το 25-40, τον Αταμάν να παίζει με τον Μήτογλου στο πέντε και να βάζει για πρώτη φορά τον Σλούκα στο 27-44 στο 15′. Εκεί βρήκε η Μονακό την ευκαιρία για να σταθεί ξανά στα πόδια της. Έτρεξε ένα επί μέρους 14-5 και έκλεισε το πρώτο μέρος στο -8 για να κρατήσει το ενδιαφέρον ζωντανό.
Η αντεπίθεση των γηπεδούχων συνεχίστηκε και στην έναρξη του β’ μέρους, με τον Παναθηναϊκό να μένει χωρίς σκορ για σχεδόν εννέα λεπτά μέχρι ο Ναν να βάλει τρίποντο για το 48-52 στο 25′ και αμέσως μετά τετράποντο για το 48-56 στο 26′. Ο Αμερικανός μέγκασταρ ήταν σε άλλο επίπεδο, έβαλε και γκολ-φάουλ για το 53-65 στο τέλοος της τρίτης περιόδου, με τους Μονεγάσκους να αισθάνονται τα πόδια τους να κόβονται.
Ο Οκόμπο έβαλε μεγάλο τρίποντο για το 69-74 στο 36′ και το ματς πήρε φωτιά, επειδή ο Παναθηναϊκός είχε αργές επιθέσεις και κακές εκτελέσεις. Ο Γκραντ έδωσε τη λύση (69-76 στο 37′) με σουτάκι από μέση απόσταση, ο Ναν έβαλε δύσκολο καλάθι για το 69-78 και οι πράσινοι έκαναν τη δουλειά x2. Και την νίκη πήραν και τη διαφορά.
