AEK's five-minute blackout at the beginning of the fourth period gave Prometheus the proper impetus to get... a double victory over "Dimitris Tofalos" (85-72) in a postponed matchup for the Basket League. The team of Yannis Christopoulos reduced the difference from the top four, but also covered the -3 defeat in the game of the first round.

The race

AEK quickly took the lead (8-15 in 5') thanks to Vlado Jankovic and Kostis Godikas, but the reaction was not long from the opposite side. The pace that the game had acquired now favored the hosts, who did not leave unexploited the continued failure of the visitors from 6m75 (4/13 three-pointers in 30').

Prometheus' lead reached +12 (60-48 at 27'), but a blackout followed, which combined with AEK's outburst gave new great interest to the game (60-60 at 30'). However, the yellow and black team's attempt to turn it around was incomplete, after another long period (almost five minutes) followed without a point from the players of Ilias Kanzouris.

Which helped Prometheus to regain a double-digit lead (72-60 at 35'), which this time it protected with much greater efficiency. The home team stayed ahead until the final and celebrated a big win in the race for home field advantage in the Basket League playoffs.

Ο Προμηθέας πήρε διπλή νίκη επί της ΑΕΚ αφού -εκτός των άλλων- κάλυψε το -3 από το παιχνίδι του α' γύρου (85-72), ελπίζοντας πως στο φινάλε της regular season μπορεί να προλάβει την τετράδα.

Το πεντάλεπτο μπλακ άουτ της ΑΕΚ στην αρχή της τέταρτης περιόδου έδωσε την κατάλληλη ώθηση στον Προμηθέα προκειμένου να πάρει... διπλή νίκη στο "Δημήτρης Τόφαλος" (85-72) σε εξ αναβολής αναμέτρηση για τη Basket League. Η ομάδα του Γιάννη Χριστόπουλου μείωσε αφενός τη διαφορά από την τετράδα, εκτός αυτού όμως κάλυψε το -3 της ήττας στο παιχνίδι του α' γύρου.

Έτσι, πλησίασε σημαντικά την τέταρτη θέση της κατάταξης, έχοντας ακόμη έναν "τελικό" να δώσει σε τρεις ημέρες, με αντίπαλο το Περιστέρι bwin. Ξανά στο "Δημήτρης Τόφαλος".

Ο αγώνας

Η ΑΕΚ πήρε γρήγορα το προβάδισμα (8-15 στο 5') χάρη σε Βλάντο Γιάνκοβιτς και Κωστή Γόντικα, αλλά η αντίδραση δεν άργησε από την απέναντι πλευρά. Ο Προμηθέας πρόλαβε να φέρει τούμπα το παιχνίδι με την ολοκλήρωση της πρώτης περιόδου (22-21 στο 10'), βελτιώνοντας σταδιακά τη δημιουργία του. Η μεγάλη εικόνα της αναμέτρησης δεν άλλαξε μέχρι την ανάπαυλα (47-42), η οποία βρήκε την ΑΕΚ να μην έχει σταθερή επιθετική απειλή και να είναι άστοχη από μακριά (3/10 τρίποντα), την ώρα που η ομάδα του Γιάννη Χριστόπουλου είχε σε εξαιρετική βραδιά τον Άντονι Κάουαν (9 πόντοι, 7 ασίστ) και τον Ντάστιν Χογκ (14 πόντοι με 5/5 σουτ και 4 ριμπάουντ).

Ο ρυθμός που είχε αποκτήσει το παιχνίδι ευνοούσε πλέον τους γηπεδούχους, οι οποίοι δεν άφησαν ανεκμετάλλευτη τη συνεχιζόμενη αστοχία των φιλοξενούμενων από τα 6μ75 (4/13 τρίποντα στο 30').

Το προβάδισμα του Προμηθέα έφτασε μέχρι το +12 (60-48 στο 27'), για να ακολουθήσει όμως ένα μπλακ άουτ, το οποίο σε συνδυασμό με το ξέσπασμα της ΑΕΚ έδωσε νέο μεγάλο ενδιαφέρον στο παιχνίδι (60-60 στο 30'). Η προσπάθεια των κιτρινόμαυρων για ανατροπή έμεινε όμως ημιτελής, αφού ακολούθησε νέο μεγάλο διάστημα (σχεδόν πέντε λεπτά) χωρίς πόντο από τους παίκτες του Ηλία Καντζούρη.

Κάτι που βοήθησε τον Προμηθέα να αποκτήσει εκ νέου διψήφιο προβάδισμα (72-60 στο 35'), το οποίο αυτή τη φορά προστάτευσε με πολύ μεγαλύτερη αποτελεσματικότητα. Οι γηπεδούχοι έμειναν μπροστά μέχρι το φινάλε και πανηγύρισαν μια μεγάλη νίκη, στην κούρσα για το πλεονέκτημα έδρας στα playoffs της Basket League.
