F1, British GP: The "thunder" Hamilton on the sprint pole

Scuderia Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton was the protagonist in the Formula 1 qualifying sprints at Silverstone with a great pole.

The qualifying sprints of the British Grand Prix proved to be exciting and gave us a new poleman for the Sprint Race in 2026. Lewis Hamilton was the absolute dominant having the fastest lap in SQ1, SQ2 and SQ3 and took a great sprint pole in front of his compatriots.

The Briton from Ferrari stopped the clocks at 1:28.376 and left Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli in 2nd place for 0.011 seconds. The Italian did his best but failed to take 1st place, while Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing will start tomorrow's Sprint Race in 3rd.

SQ1

The 12-minute session began at Silverstone with the drivers taking to the track on the medium tire compound required by the regulations. From the first attempts, the times were quite fast, with Hajar at the top of the times at 1:29.470, while Hamilton and Piastre followed.

The two Ferraris regained the 1-2, with Hamilton faster. However, the battle was for who would move on to SQ2. Cadillac and Aston Martin were the favorites for elimination, while Williams and Haas would fight for who would move on to the next phase. In the end, the British team proved to be the winner in this battle.

The following were eliminated from SQ1: Berman, Ocon, Perez, Bottas, Alonso and Stroll.

SQ2

The 10-minute process began with the drivers immediately taking to the track on the medium compound. Norris was at a disadvantage, as he lost an aerodynamic component from the rear of his car, which cost him downforce.

Hamilton was very fast and recorded the fastest lap with 1:28.747, and Antonelli was 2nd. However, the battle was for qualification to the final sprint qualifying phase.

The one lap of the Racing Bulls drivers put Russell in a difficult position, who needed another attempt to secure a place in SQ3. Norris managed to qualify for the next phase, but was 10th.

The following were eliminated from SQ2: Gasly, Bortoletto, Hulkenberg, Colapinto, Sainz and Albon.

SQ3

The battle for sprint pole began with the drivers staying in their garages for the first few minutes. The drivers only had the soft tyre compound at their disposal, which provided maximum grip for just one lap.

Finally, we saw the drivers take to the track with 3 minutes to go, with Piastri first and Russell last. Everyone had just one attempt at sprint pole.

Everyone started to set their times, with Antonelli setting a very fast lap. But the last one to speak was Lewis Hamilton, who took sprint pole in Silverstone with a time of 1:28.376.

Antonelli followed in 2nd place, while Verstappen was 3rd. Behind them were Leclerc, Russell, Norris, Piastre, Hajar, Lawson and Lindblad.

Ο Λιούις Χάμιλτον της Scuderia Ferrari ήταν o πρωταγωνιστής στις κατατακτήριες σπριντ της Formula 1 στο Σίλβερστον με μία σπουδαία pole.

Οι κατατακτήριες σπριντ του Grand Prix Μ. Βρετανίας, αποδείχθηκαν συναρπαστικές και μας έδωσαν έναν νέο poleman για Αγώνα Σπριντ στο 2026. Ο Λιούις Χάμιλτον ήταν ο απόλυτος κυρίαρχος έχοντας τον ταχύτερο γύρο στο SQ1, στο SQ2 και στο SQ3 και πήρε μια σπουδαία sprint pole μπροστά στους συμπαστριώτες του.

Ο Βρετανός της Ferrari σταμάτησε τα χρονόμετρα στο 1:28,376 και άφησε στη 2η θέση τον Κίμι Αντονέλι της Mercedes για 0,011 δευτερόλεπτα. Ο Ιταλός έκανε ό,τι μπορούσε αλλά δεν κατάφερε να πάρει την 1η θέση, ενώ 3ος θα ξεκινήσει τον αυριανό Αγώνα Σπριντ ο Μαξ Φερστάπεν της Red Bull Racing.

SQ1

Το 12λεπτο ξεκίνησε στο Σίλβερστον με τους οδηγούς να βγαίνουν στην πίστα με τη μεσαία γόμα ελαστικών που προέβλεπαν οι κανονισμοί. Από τις πρώτες προσπάθειες η οι χρόνοι ήταν αρκετά γρήγοροι, με τον Χατζάρ να είναι στην κορυφή των χρόνων στο 1:29,470, ενώ οι Χάμιλτον και Πιάστρι ακολουθούσαν.

Οι δύο Ferrari ανέκτησαν το 1-2, με τον Χάμιλτον ταχύτερο. Η μάχη όμως ήταν για το ποιος θα περνούσε στο SQ2. Φαβορί για αποκλεισμό ήταν οι Cadillac και Aston Martin, ενώ οι Williams και Haas θα έδιναν μάχη για το ποιος θα περνούσε στην επόμενη φάση. Εν τέλει η βρετανική ομάδα αποδείχθηκε νικήτρια σε αυτή τη μάχη.

Από το SQ1 αποκλείστηκαν οι: Μπέρμαν, Οκόν, Πέρεζ, Μπότας, Αλόνσο και Στρολ.

SQ2

Η διαδικασία των 10 λεπτών ξεκίνησε με τους οδηγούς να βγαίνουν αμέσως στην πίστα με τη μεσαία γόμα ελαστικών. Ο Νόρις ήταν σε μειονεκτική θέση, μιας και έχασε ένα αεροδυναμικό εξάρτημα από το πίσω μέρος του μονοθεσίου του και αυτό του κόστισε σε κάθετη δύναμη.

O Χάμιλτον ήταν ταχύτατος και έγραψε τον ταχύτερο γύρο με το 1:28,747 και 2ος ήταν ο Αντονέλι. Η μάχη ωστόσο ήταν για την πρόκριση στην τελική φάση των κατατακτηρίων σπριντ.

Ο ένας γύρος των οδηγών της Racing Bulls έφερε σε δύσκολη θέση τον Ράσελ, ο οποίος χρειάστηκε άλλη μία προσπάθεια για να εξασφαλίσει θέση στο SQ3. Ο Νόρις κατάφερε να προκριθεί στην επόμενη φάση, όμως ήταν 10ος.

Από το SQ2 αποκλείστηκαν οι: Γκασλί, Μπορτολέτο, Χούλκενμπεργκ, Κολαπίντο, Σάινθ και Άλμπον.

SQ3

Η μάχη για τη sprint pole ξεκίνησε με τους οδηγούς να μένουν για τα πρώτα λεπτά στο γκαράζ τους. Οι οδηγοί είχαν στη διάθεσή τους μόνο τη μαλακή γόμα ελαστικών που έδινε τη μέγιστη δυνατή πρόσφυση για έναν μόλις γύρο.

Εν τέλει είδαμε τους οδηγούς να βγαίνουν στην πίστα με 3 λεπτά για το φινάλε, με τον Πιάστρι να είναι πρώτος και ο Ράσελ τελευταίος. Όλοι είχαν στη διάθεσή τους μόλις μία προσπάθεια για τη sprint pole.

Όλοι άρχισαν να κάνουν τους χρόνους τους, με τον Αντονέλι να θέτει έναν τρομερά γρήγορο γύρο. Όμως αυτός που μίλησε τελευταίος ήταν ο Λιούις Χάμιλτον, ο οποίος με το 1:28,376 πήρε τη sprint pole μέσα στο Σίλβερστον.

Ακολούθησε ο Αντονέλι τη 2η θέση, ενώ 3ος ήταν ο Φερστάπεν. Πίσω τους ήταν οι Λεκλέρ, Ράσελ, Νόρις, Πιάστρι, Χατζάρ, Λόσον και Λίντμπλαντ.
