The Women's National Team continued its excellent run in the European League, defeating Portugal 3-2 in sets and completing the second week of the tournament undefeated.

Despite the difficulties it encountered at several points in the match, Apostolos Economou's team showed composure and quality at crucial points, ultimately achieving victory.

Greece's next competitive obligation is the third tournament of the tournament in Estonia. There, they will first face Latvia on Saturday, June 20 (16:00) and then host Estonia on Sunday, June 21 (16:00).

The match

Greece entered the first set dynamically and took an early 4-0 lead. Although Portugal managed to tie the game at 8-8, the internationals stepped up their game and with an impressive 6-0 run they escaped with a score of 16-10. The gap continued to grow, with the score reaching 21-11, before the National Team won the set with a score of 25-15.

In the second set, the “blue and white” team maintained control in the first minutes and led 9-3, looking ready to make it 2-0 in the sets. However, the Portuguese women reacted and managed to get back into the game. From 19-13 in favor of Greece, they came close and went ahead with a score of 23-20. The National Team tied the game at 24-24, but Portugal was more effective in the details and took the set with a score of 26-24.

Greece’s response came immediately in the third set. With an excellent presence in defense and offense, it quickly took a 7-1 lead and did not allow its opponent to come closer. Maintaining a high pace throughout the set, the "blue and white" comfortably reached 25-14 and regained the lead.

The fourth set was the most lopsided of the match. The two teams were tied in the score for a long time, with Greece taking the lead after 13-13 and reaching the lead with 21-20. Nevertheless, Portugal found solutions at critical points and with a decisive 5-0 run closed the set with 25-21, sending the game to a tiebreak.

In the fifth and final set, the National Team left no room for doubt. It started impressively, leading 4-0 and then 8-2, completely controlling the pace. The difference even reached 14-8, before Greece made it 15-8 and celebrated another important victory in the European Golden League.

Η Εθνική Γυναικών συνέχισε την εξαιρετική της πορεία στο European League, επικρατώντας της Πορτογαλίας με 3-2 σετ και ολοκληρώνοντας αήττητη τη δεύτερη εβδομάδα της διοργάνωσης.

Παρά τις δυσκολίες που συνάντησε σε αρκετά σημεία του αγώνα, η ομάδα του Απόστολου Οικονόμου έδειξε ψυχραιμία και ποιότητα στα κρίσιμα σημεία, φτάνοντας τελικά στη νίκη.

Επόμενη αγωνιστική υποχρέωση για την Ελλάδα είναι το τρίτο τουρνουά της διοργάνωσης στην Εσθονία. Εκεί, θα αντιμετωπίσει αρχικά τη Λετονία το Σάββατο 20 Ιουνίου (16:00) και στη συνέχεια την οικοδέσποινα Εσθονία την Κυριακή 21 Ιουνίου (16:00).

Το ματς

Η Ελλάδα μπήκε δυναμικά στο πρώτο σετ και προηγήθηκε από νωρίς με 4-0. Παρότι η Πορτογαλία κατάφερε να ισοφαρίσει σε 8-8, οι διεθνείς ανέβασαν την απόδοσή τους και με ένα εντυπωσιακό σερί 6-0 ξέφυγαν με 16-10. Η διαφορά συνέχισε να μεγαλώνει, με το σκορ να φτάνει στο 21-11, πριν η Εθνική κατακτήσει το σετ με 25-15.

Στο δεύτερο σετ, η «γαλανόλευκη» διατήρησε τον έλεγχο στα πρώτα λεπτά και προηγήθηκε με 9-3, δείχνοντας έτοιμη να κάνει το 2-0 στα σετ. Ωστόσο, οι Πορτογαλίδες αντέδρασαν και κατάφεραν να επιστρέψουν στο παιχνίδι. Από το 19-13 υπέρ της Ελλάδας, πλησίασαν και πέρασαν μπροστά με 23-20. Η Εθνική ισοφάρισε σε 24-24, όμως η Πορτογαλία ήταν πιο αποτελεσματική στις λεπτομέρειες και πήρε το σετ με 26-24.

Η απάντηση της Ελλάδας ήρθε άμεσα στο τρίτο σετ. Με εξαιρετική παρουσία σε άμυνα και επίθεση, προηγήθηκε γρήγορα με 7-1 και δεν επέτρεψε στην αντίπαλό της να πλησιάσει. Διατηρώντας υψηλό ρυθμό σε όλη τη διάρκεια του σετ, η «γαλανόλευκη» έφτασε άνετα στο 25-14 και ανέκτησε το προβάδισμα.

Το τέταρτο σετ ήταν το πιο αμφίρροπο της αναμέτρησης. Οι δύο ομάδες συμβάδιζαν στο σκορ για μεγάλο διάστημα, με την Ελλάδα να παίρνει το προβάδισμα μετά το 13-13 και να φτάνει μπροστά με 21-20. Παρ’ όλα αυτά, η Πορτογαλία βρήκε λύσεις στα κρίσιμα σημεία και με ένα καθοριστικό σερί 5-0 έκλεισε το σετ με 25-21, στέλνοντας το παιχνίδι στο τάι μπρέικ.

Στο πέμπτο και τελευταίο σετ, η Εθνική δεν άφησε κανένα περιθώριο αμφισβήτησης. Ξεκίνησε εντυπωσιακά, προηγήθηκε με 4-0 και στη συνέχεια με 8-2, ελέγχοντας απόλυτα τον ρυθμό. Η διαφορά έφτασε ακόμη και στο 14-8, πριν η Ελλάδα διαμορφώσει το τελικό 15-8 και πανηγυρίσει μία ακόμη σημαντική νίκη στο European Golden League.
