AEK with... a lion's heart and effective defense in the last 5 minutes "swallowed" Badalona (72-67) and qualified for the BCL Final Four (May 7-9). Great feat from Dragan Sakota's fighting team in the "hot" SUNEL Arena.

The law of the "SUNEL Arena": The "steel" AEK in front of 9,000 of its fans "bent" for the 2nd time the host of this year's Final Four, Badalona, ​​and threw them out (2-1 in the series), taking advantage of their undefeated home ground. Dragan Sakota's team, with a defensive recital in the final stretch (only 4 points in the last 5 minutes), came back from -6 and "sealed" another appearance in the BCL title event.

Thus, "Enositas" will face Unicaja Malaga in the semi-final of the Final Four on 7/5 with a ticket to the final on Sunday, May 9.

Frank Bartley (16 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists) and Dimitris Katsivelis (7 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists) were the ones who "spoke" in the final for the winners. However, James Nunnally (10pts, 4rebs, 4asts), Greg Brown (11pts, 7rebs) and RaeKwan Gray (15pts, 8asts) had done great work earlier.

On the contrary, the Spanish team of... the brilliant Ricky Rubio (17pts, 4rebs, 6assists) - Jabari Parker (22pts, 7rebs) seemed to have lost in the final stretch. Badalona could not find ways to defeat the "yellow-black" defense in the 2nd half of the 4th period and "paid" for it with a painful exclusion for them.

AEK started the game better, having a boost from their fans and with three consecutive three-pointers by Dimitris Flionis, RaeKwan Gray and Vasilis Charalambopoulos, they "flirted" with double-digit distances early on (15-6 at 6'). In fact, with the defense making the difference and Frank Bartley scoring in every way (7pts.), "Enositas" found itself at +11 at 8' (19-8). At that point, however, Ricky Rubio (6pts., 3rp., 3as.) raised the intensity on behalf of the Spaniards, defeated Lekavicius several times and the 1st quarter ended with a score of 20-18.

Rubio and Parker "hurt" the hosts

Cameron Hunt put the visitors ahead with a three-pointer (20-21 at 11'). Dragan Sakota's team responded immediately with an 8-0 run (28-21 at 13' with a 3-pointer and a foul by James Nunnally), but again the Spaniards did not let the game "get away" and regained control (30-29 at 16' and 32-34 at 17' with Jabari Parker doing "damage" with 13 points.). The "yellow and black" three-pointers were not finding their target (5/16 3p.), the impressive Rubio... was dancing on the floor (12p., 5as.) and Badalona "closed" the half at +6 (34-40 at 20'), having completely reversed the situation.

The three-pointers of Parker and Rubio took Miret's team to +7 for the first time (39-46 at 23'), with the hosts having difficulty finding "stable" ones (41-49 at 25'). Gray reached double figures (10pts with 4/11 from the field and 1/2 shots) and Sakota tried a formation with Bartley - Nunnally together in the match, without a "classic" operator (44-51 at 27'). However, AEK continued to miss key three-pointers (6/20 3pts.), did not have a good percentage from the shooting line (6/13pts.) and could not change the picture of the match (50-55 at 30').

"Steel" defense, great efforts from Bartley - Katsivelis and... Final Four for AEK

Greg Brown provided significant assists and "nibbled" the gap (54-57 at 32'), setting... fire to the "SUNEL Arena", with Dimitris Katsivelis scoring a great three-pointer for 57-59 a little later (33'). However, Badalona did not lose its composure, found a score with Parker and immediately returned to +6 (57-63 at 34'). Sakota called time out, his team "brought out" three defenses, but 0/2p. by Gray and an unaimed 3p. by Brown did not radically change the situation (59-63 at 36'). Rubio hit a pair of shots (59-65), Brown reduced the deficit (61-65) and Hanga missed twice, giving the Greek team some breathing space. Nunnally in turn hit two three-pointers, but AEK found the offensive rebounds, loaded the Spaniards with fouls and reduced the deficit even further (63-65 with 2/2 points by Gray, 2'21'' to go).

The court was now in... a footy and Parker missed a three-pointer from the corner. On the contrary, Katsivelis found the target in a difficult attempt and tied the game (65-65 at 38') after Nunnally's 4th assist. With 88'' to go, Parker hit 2/2 shots (65-67), but Bartley put the "Union" ahead with a huge shot (68-67). The match was hanging by a thread, Hunt's three-pointer hit the target and the "yellow and black" secured possession with 54'' to go. Katsivelis played with time, "gnawed" the 24-pointer and after defeating the entire Spanish team, hit a layup for 70-67 amidst pandemonium in the stands. In Game 3, there were 34'' left after the Spanish timeout and Nunnally played the defense of the match, stealing the ball from Parker. Then, he hit a pair of shots (72-67), to "seal" AEK's qualification to the Final Four.

Η ΑΕΚ με... καρδιά λιονταριού και αποτελεσματική άμυνα στο τελευταίο 5λεπτο «κατάπιε» τη Μπανταλόνα (72-67) και προκρίθηκε στο Final Four του BCL (7-9 Μαΐου). Σπουδαίος άθλος από τη μαχητική ομάδα του Ντράγκαν Σάκοτα στην «καυτή» SUNEL Arena.

Ο νόμος της "SUNEL Arena": Η «ατσάλινη» ΑΕΚ μπροστά σε 9.000 φίλους της «λύγισε» για 2η φορά την οικοδέσποινα του φετινού Final Four, Μπανταλόνα και την πέταξε εκτός (2-1 η σειρά), εκμεταλλευόμενη την αήττητη έδρα της. Η ομάδα του Ντράγκαν Σάκοτα με ρεσιτάλ άμυνας στην τελική ευθεία (μόλις 4π. παθητικό στο τελευταίο 5λεπτο) επέστρεψε από το -6 και «σφράγισε» ακόμα μία παρουσία της στο event του τίτλου του BCL.

Έτσι, η «Ένωση» θα αναμετρηθεί στον ημιτελικό του Final Four στις 7/5 απέναντι στην Ουνικάχα Μάλαγα με φόντο ένα εισιτήριο για τον τελικό της Κυριακής 9 Μαΐου. 

Ο Φρανκ Μπάρτλεϊ (16 πόντοι, 2 ριμπάουντ, 3 ασίστ) και ο Δημήτρης Κατσίβελης (7 πόντοι, 2 ριμπάουντ, 2 ασίστ) ήταν εκείνοι που «μίλησαν» στο φινάλε για τους νικητές. Όμως, σπουδαία δουλειά είχαν κάνει νωρίτερα και οι Τζέιμς Νάναλι (10π., 4ρ., 4ασ.), Γκρεγκ Μπράουν (11π., 7ρ.) και ΡαϊΚουάν Γκρέι (15π., 8ρ.). 

Αντιθέτως, η ισπανική ομάδα των... λαμπερών Ρίκι Ρούμπιο (17 πόντοι, 4 ριμπάουντ, 6 ασίστ) - Τζαμπάρι Πάρκερ (22 πόντοι, 7 ριμπάουντ) έμοιαζε να έχει χαμένα στην τελική ευθεία. Η Μπανταλόνα δεν μπόρεσε να βρει τρόπους να νικήσει την «κιτρινόμαυρη» άμυνα στο 2ο μισό της 4ης περιόδου και το «πλήρωσε» με έναν οδυνηρό αποκλεισμό για εκείνη.

Μπήκε καλύτερα η ΑΕΚ - Απάντησαν γρήγορα οι Ισπανοί με τον Ρούμπιο

Η ΑΕΚ ξεκίνησε καλύτερα το παιχνίδι, έχοντας ώθηση από το κοινό της και με τρία διαδοχικά τρίποντα των Δημήτρη Φλιώνη, ρΑΪκΟΥΆΝ Γκρέι και Βασίλη Χαραλαμπόπουλου «φλέρταρε» με διψήφιες αποστάσεις από νωρίς (15-6 στο 6'). Μάλιστα, με την άμυνα να κάνει τη διαφορά και τον Φρανκ Μπάρτλεϊ να σκοράρει με κάθε τρόπο (7π.), η «Ένωση» βρέθηκε στο +11 στο 8' (19-8). Σε εκείνο το σημείο, όμως, ο Ρίκι Ρούμπιο (6π., 3ρ., 3ασ.) ανέβασε την ένταση για λογαριασμό των Ισπανών, νίκησε διαδοχικές φορές τον Λεκαβίτσιους και το 1ο δεκάλεπτο ολοκληρώθηκε με σκορ 20-18.

Ρούμπιο και Πάρκερ «πλήγωσαν» τους γηπεδούχους

Ο Κάμερον Χαντ με ένα τρίποντο έβαλε μπροστά τους φιλοξενούμενους (20-21 στο 11'). Η ομάδα του Ντράγκαν Σάκοτα αντέδρασε άμεσα με ένα 8-0 σερί (28-21 στο 13' με 3π. και φάουλ του Τζέιμς Νάναλι), αλλά και πάλι οι Ισπανοί δεν άφησαν το παιχνίδι να «ξεφύγει» και ανέκτησαν τον έλεγχο (30-29 στο 16' και 32-34 στο 17' με τον Τζαμπάρι Πάρκερ να κάνει «ζημιά» με 13π.). Τα «κιτρινόμαυρα» τρίποντα δεν έβρισκαν στόχο (5/16 3π.), ο εντυπωσιακός Ρούμπιο... χόρευε στο παρκέ (12π., 5ασ.) και η Μπανταλόνα «έκλεισε» το ημίχρονο στο +6 (34-40 στο 20'), έχοντας αντιστρέψει πλήρως τα δεδομένα. 

Στο «τιμόνι» οι Ισπανοί - Άστοχη πίσω από τα 6,75μ. η «Ένωση»

Τα τρίποντα των Πάρκερ και Ρούμπιο πήγαν την ομάδα του Μιρέτ για πρώτη φορά στο +7 (39-46 στο 23'), με τους γηπεδούχους να δυσκολεύονται να βρουν «σταθερές» (41-49 στο 25'). Ο Γκρέι έγινε διψήφιος (10π. με 4/11 εντός πεδιάς και 1/2 βολές) και ο Σάκοτα δοκίμασε ένα σχήμα με τους Μπάρτλεϊ - Νάναλι μαζί στο ματς, χωρίς «κλασικό» χειριστή (44-51 στο 27'). Όμως, η ΑΕΚ συνέχισε να αστοχεί σε κομβικά τρίποντα (6/20 3π.), δεν είχε καλό ποσοστό από τη γραμμή των βολών (6/13β.) και δεν μπορούσε να αλλάξει την εικόνα του αγώνα (50-55 στο 30'). 

«Ατσάλινη» άμυνα, μεγάλες προσπάθειες από Μπάρτλεϊ - Κατσίβελη και... Final Four για την ΑΕΚ

Ο Γκρεγκ Μπράουν έδωσε σημαντικές βοήθειες και «ροκάνισε» την απόσταση (54-57 στο 32'), βάζοντας... φωτιά στη "SUNEL Arena", με τον Δημήτρη Κατσίβελη να βάζει ένα μεγάλο τρίποντο για το 57-59 λίγο αργότερα (33'). Όμως, η Μπανταλόνα δεν έχασε τη ψυχραιμία της, βρήκε σκορ με τον Πάρκερ και επέστρεψε άμεσα στο +6 (57-63 στο 34'). Ο Σάκοτα κάλεσε time out, η ομάδα του «έβγαλε» τρεις άμυνες, αλλά 0/2β. του Γκρέι και ένα άστοχο 3π. του Μπράουν δεν άλλαξαν ριζικά τα δεδομένα (59-63 στο 36'). Ο Ρούμπιο ευστόχησε σε ένα ζευγάρι βολών (59-65), ο Μπράουν μείωσε (61-65) και ο Χάνγκα αστόχησε δις, αφήνοντας... ανάσες στην ελληνική ομάδα. Ο Νάναλι με τη σειρά του βρήκε σίδερο σε δύο τρίποντα, αλλά η ΑΕΚ βρήκε τα επιθετικά ριμπάουντ, φόρτωσε με φάουλ τους Ισπανούς και μείωσε κι άλλο (63-65 με 2/2β. του Γκρέι, 2'21'' για το τέλος). 

Το γήπεδο ήταν πλέον στο... πόδι και ο Πάρκερ αστόχησε σε τρίποντο από τη γωνία. Αντιθέτως, ο Κατσίβελης βρήκε στόχο σε μια δύσκολη προσπάθεια και ισοφάρισε (65-65 στο 38') μετά την 4η ασίστ του Νάναλι. Με 88'' για το φινάλε ο Πάρκερ ευστόχησε σε 2/2 βολές (65-67), αλλά ο Μπάρτλεϊ έβαλε μπροστά την «Ένωση» με ένα τεράστιο σουτ (68-67). Το ματς κρεμόταν σε μια κλωστή, το τρίποντο του Χαντ βρήκε σίδερο και οι «κιτρινόμαυροι» εξασφάλισαν την κατοχή με 54'' για τη λήξη. Ο Κατσίβελης έπαιξε με τον χρόνο, «ροκάνισε» το 24άρι και αφού νίκησε όλη την ισπανική ομάδα ευστόχησε σε λέι απ για το 70-67 μέσα σε πανδαιμόνιο στις εξέδρες.

Στο Game 3 έμεναν 34'' μετά το time out των Ισπανών και ο Νάναλι έπαιξε την άμυνα του αγώνα, κλέβοντας τη μπάλα από τον Πάρκερ. Στη συνέχεια, ευστόχησε σε ένα ζευγάρι βολών (72-67), για να «σφραγίσει» την πρόκριση της ΑΕΚ στο Final Four.
