European Aquatics and the referees admitted mistakes and tampering with the result in the match with Mladost Zagreb, justifying what Olympiacos claimed.

The strong complaints expressed by Olympiacos after the away match with Mladost Zagreb for the 4th matchday of the Champions League groups, prove to be justified.

The "red and whites", who were defeated in the final with 14-13, had many and justified complaints after the match about the referees' decisions, with the Italian, Alessandro Severo and the Dutch, Michiel Swart provoking strong reactions from the people of the Piraeus team.

And in the end, their protests were not misplaced. The information that emerges from the response document of the European Federation (European Aquatics), as well as the statements of the referees themselves, fully justifies Olympiacos for what it complained about after the game with Mladost.

The European Federation, the secretariat and the delegate of the match and the refereeing duo acknowledged a series of serious mistakes, accepting that there were critical wrong decisions that affected the result, while appearing to "apologize" for the confusion and at the same time, the alteration of the result, that they caused.

As can be seen from the content of the response, they admit their wrong decisions, both the penalty of 11-10, and the one in "dead" time in the 4th eight-minute period that formed the final 14-13.

They also emphasize that there was no VAR available to fully review what had happened, resulting in decisions being made without the necessary safeguards.

According to what is stated in the document, the referees accept that “unintentional, but real” errors were made, which were due to confusion between them and the secretariat, especially in the phase of the two players who had the same number.

They admit that the wrong decisions were the joint responsibility of all match officials and that the necessary checks were not observed to avoid injustice.

Both the referees and the federation delegate express, according to the document, their regret and “apology” for what happened, openly acknowledging that the decisions that Olympiacos protested were wrong.

In fact, it is clear that they themselves reviewed the controversial phases on video after the end of the match and concluded that they had indeed made a wrong assessment.

This admission fully confirms the objections of Olympiacos, which from the very beginning spoke of blatant refereeing failures at key points in the match. The written recognition of the errors by the federation and the officials constitutes a substantial vindication for the Piraeus club, which had pointed out the controversial phases immediately after the end.

Η European Aquatics και οι διαιτητές παραδέχθηκαν λάθη και αλλοίωση αποτελέσματος στο ματς με τη Μλάντοστ Ζάγκρεμπ, δικαιώνοντας τα όσα υποστήριζε ο Ολυμπιακός.

Τα έντονα παράπονα που εξέφρασε ο Ολυμπιακός μετά τον εκτός έδρας αγώνα με τη Μλάντοστ Ζάγκρεμπ για την 4η αγωνιστική των ομίλων του Champions League, αποδεικνύονται δικαιολογημένα.

Οι «ερυθρόλευκοι» που ηττήθηκαν στην εκπνοή με 14-13, μετά τον αγώνα είχαν πολλά και δικαιολογημένα παράπονα από τις αποφάσεις των διαιτητών, με τον Ιταλό, Αλεσάντρο Σεβέρο και τον Ολλανδό, Μίχιελ Σβαρτ να προκαλούν τις έντονες αντιδράσεις από τους ανθρώπους της πειραϊκής ομάδας.

Και τελικά οι διαμαρτυρίες τους δεν ήταν άστοχες. Οι πληροφορίες που προκύπτουν μέσα από το έγγραφο-απάντηση της ευρωπαϊκής ομοσπονδίας (European Aquatics), αλλά και τις τοποθετήσεις των ίδιων των διαιτητών, ο Ολυμπιακός δικαιώνεται πλήρως για όσα κατήγγειλε μετά το παιχνίδι με τη Μλάντοστ.

Η ευρωπαϊκή ομοσπονδία, η γραμματεία και ο delegate του αγώνα και το διαιτητικό δίδυμο αναγνώρισαν σειρά σοβαρών λαθών, αποδεχόμενοι ότι υπήρξαν κρίσιμες λανθασμένες αποφάσεις που επηρέασαν το αποτέλεσμα, ενώ εμφανίζονται να ζητούν «συγγνώμη» για τη σύγχυση και συνάμα, την αλλοίωση αποτελέσματος, που προκάλεσαν.

Όπως προκύπτει από το περιεχόμενο της απάντησης, παραδέχονται τις λάθος αποφάσεις τους, τόσο το πέναλτι του 11-10, όσο και αυτό σε «νεκρό» χρόνο στο 4ο οκτάλεπτο που διαμόρφωσε το τελικό 14-13.

Τονίζουν, επίσης, πως δεν υπήρχε διαθέσιμο VAR, ώστε να μπορέσουν να ελέγξουν πλήρως τι είχε συμβεί, με αποτέλεσμα να ληφθούν αποφάσεις χωρίς τις απαραίτητες δικλείδες ασφαλείας.

Με όσα μεταφέρονται στο έγγραφο, οι διαιτητές αποδέχονται ότι έγιναν λάθη «ακούσια, αλλά υπαρκτά», τα οποία οφείλονται σε σύγχυση μεταξύ τους και της γραμματείας, ειδικά στη φάση των δύο παικτών που είχαν το ίδιο νούμερο.

Ομολογούν ότι οι λανθασμένες αποφάσεις ήταν κοινή ευθύνη όλων των αξιωματούχων του αγώνα και ότι δεν τηρήθηκαν οι απαραίτητοι έλεγχοι για να αποφευχθεί η αδικία.

Τόσο οι διαιτητές, όσο και ο delegate της ομοσπονδίας εκφράζουν, σύμφωνα με το έγγραφο, τη λύπη και τη «συγγνώμη» τους για όσα συνέβησαν, αναγνωρίζοντας ανοιχτά ότι οι αποφάσεις που διαμαρτυρήθηκε ο Ολυμπιακός ήταν λανθασμένες.

Μάλιστα, γίνεται σαφές, ότι οι ίδιοι εξέτασαν ξανά τις επίμαχες φάσεις σε βίντεο μετά τη λήξη του αγώνα και κατέληξαν στο συμπέρασμα, ότι όντως είχαν κάνει λάθος εκτίμηση.

Η παραδοχή αυτή επιβεβαιώνει απόλυτα τις ενστάσεις του Ολυμπιακού, που από την πρώτη στιγμή μιλούσε για εξόφθαλμες διαιτητικές αστοχίες σε καίρια σημεία του αγώνα. Η γραπτή αναγνώριση των λαθών από την ομοσπονδία και τους αξιωματούχους αποτελεί ουσιαστική δικαίωση για τον πειραϊκό σύλλογο, ο οποίος είχε επισημάνει τις επίμαχες φάσεις αμέσως μετά τη λήξη.
