18-year-old Mira Andreeva defeated Emma Navarro 2-0 in straight sets, only to be given a nod by her team to realize she had qualified for her first Wimbledon quarterfinal.

Mira Andreeva continued her flawless run at Wimbledon, with the Russian turning her match against Emma Navarro into a comfortable victory, prevailing 6-2, 6-3 to advance to the 4th round.

With her qualification to the quarterfinals of the All England Cup, 18-year-old Andreeva became the youngest player to reach the quarterfinals in 18 years, joining Czech Nicole Vaidisova and following in the footsteps of Maria Sharapova, who became Wimbledon champion in 2004 at the age of 17.

All she needed was a nod from her coach and former Roland Garros champion Conchita Martinez to understand that her match against Navarro, who was looking at the young Russian with wonder, was a match.

Andreeva, having broken Navarro's serve six times, needed 75 minutes to eliminate the Spaniard and is very close to securing her first appearance in the Top 5 of her career. After this year's Roland Garros, she will also play in the quarterfinals at Wimbledon, without having dropped a set in the four matches she has played.

Her opponent will be Belinda Bencic, with the 38-year-old Swiss defeating Ekaterina Alexandrova 7-6(4), 6-4.

What is worth mentioning about Benedic is that in April 2024 she became a mother, in January she returned to action and for the 3rd time she will compete in a Grand Slam quarterfinal, aiming for her first semifinal after failed attempts at the US Open in 2014 and 2021.

Η 18χρονη Μίρα Αντρέεβα νίκησε την Έμμα Ναβάρο με 2-0 σετ, μόνο που χρειάστηκε το νεύμα από την ομάδα της για να συνειδητοποιήσει πως είχε προκριθεί στον πρώτο της προημιτελικό στο Wimbledon.

H Mίρα Αντρέεβα συνέχισε την αλάνθαστη πορεία της στο Wibmledon, με τη Ρωσίδα να μετατρέπει σε μια άνετη επικράτηση την αναμέτρηση με την Έμμα Ναβάρο, επικρατώντας με 6-2, 6-3 για τον 4ο γύρο.

Η 18χρονη Αντρέεβα με την πρόκριση στα προημιτελικά του All England Cup έγινε η νεαρότερη παίκτρια που φθάνει στα προημιτελικά έπειτα από 18 χρόνια και την Τσέχα, Νικόλ Βαϊντίσοβα και κινείται στα χνάρια της Μαρία Σαράποβα που έγινε πρωταθλήτρια στο Wimbledon το 2004 σε ηλικία 17 ετών.

Mόνο που χρειάστηκε το νεύμα από την προπονήτριά της και πρώην πρωταθλήτρια στο Roland Garros, Κοντσίτα Μαρτίνεζ για να καταλάβει πως ο αγώνας της απέναντι στη Ναβάρο, που κοιτούσε με απορία τη νεαρή Ρωσίδα.

Η Αντρέεβα πετυχαίνοντας έξι break στο σερβίς της Ναβάρο, χρειάστηκε 75 λεπτά για να αποκλείσει την Ισπανίδα και είναι πολύ κοντά να εξασφαλίσει την παρουσία της για πρώτη φορά στην καριέρα της στο Top 5. Mετά το φετινό Roland Garros, θα παίξει προημιτελικό και στο Wimbledon, χωρίς να έχει χάσει σετ στα τέσσερα παιχνίδια που έχει δώσει.

Αντίπαλός της θα είναι η Μπελίντα Μπέντσιτς, με την 38χρονη Ελβετίδα να νικά την Εκατερίνα Αλεξαντρόβα με 7-6(4), 6-4.

Το άξιο αναφοράς για την Μπέντιτς είναι ότι τον Απρίλιο του 2024 έγινε μητέρα, τον Ιανουάριο επέστρεψε στη δράση και για 3η φορά θα αγωνιστεί σε προημιτελικό Grand Slam, στοχεύοντας στον πρώτο της ημιτελικό μετά τις αποτυχημένες προσπάθειες στο US Open το 2014 και το 2021.
