Sakkari – Blinkova 2-0: Greek tennis player advances to 2nd round of Wimbledon

Maria Sakkari defeated Anna Blinkova in the 1st round of Wimbledon, having an excellent performance. The Greek tennis player qualified for the 2nd round and there she will face the winner of the Avanesian – Rybakina pair.

Maria Sakkari had a very good performance against Anna Blinkova and in this way she prevailed in their match, for the 1st round of Wimbledon. The Greek tennis player qualified for the 2nd round of the London tournament, leaving out her opponent who is in 78th place in the ranking.

The 29-year-old athlete had a tough opponent in both the first set (6-4) and the second (6-4), however, she got the long-awaited victory that gave her the qualification. Sakkari (No. 77 in the ranking) aims to break the curse of the 3rd round and get past it, something she has not managed in her previous nine appearances.

It is worth noting that the Greek will play the winner of the Avanesian – Rybakina pair, who face each other on Tuesday (1/7).

H Μαρία Σάκκαρη επικράτησε της Άννα Μπλίνκοβα στον 1ο γύρο του Wimbledon, έχοντας εξαιρετική εμφάνιση. Η Ελληνίδα τενίστρια πήρε την πρόκριση στον 2ο γύρο και εκεί θα αντιμετωπίσει τη νικήτρια του ζευγαριού Αβανεσιάν – Ριμπάκινα.

Η Μαρία Σάκκαρη είχε πολύ καλή εμφάνιση κόντρα στην Άννα Μπλίνκοβα και με αυτόν τον τρόπο επικράτησε στο μεταξύ τους παιχνίδι, για τον 1ο γύρο του Wimbledon. Η Ελληνίδα τενίστρια προκρίθηκε στον 2ο γύρο της διοργάνωσης του Λονδίνου, αφήνοντας εκτός την αντίπαλό της που βρίσκεται στη θέση 78 του ranking.

H 29χρονη αθλήτρια είχε σκληρή αντίπαλό της τόσο στο πρώτο σετ (6-4), όσο και στο δεύτερο (6-4), εντούτοις πήρε την πολυπόθητη νίκη που της χάρισε την πρόκριση. Η Σάκκαρη (Νο 77 της κατάταξης) έχει στόχο να σπάσει την κατάρα του 3ου γύρου και να τον προσπεράσει, κάτι που δεν έχει καταφέρει στις προηγούμενες εννέα συμμετοχές της.

Αξίζει να σημειωθεί πως η Ελληνίδα θα παίξει με τη νικήτρια του ζευγαριού Αβανεσιάν – Ριμπάκινα, οι οποίες τίθενται αντιμέτωπες την Τρίτη (1/7).
