Olympiacos – Panathinaikos 3-2: The “red and white” team came out alive in the thriller and paved the way for the finals

Despite seeing Panathinaikos come back from 2-0 down, Olympiacos finally emerged victorious in a great battle at “Melina Merkouri” with 3-2 sets and took the first step towards qualifying for the Women’s Volley League finals. Koumpoura was the star with 27 points for the “red and white” team, while Farioll was decisive with 17.

Made of steel, Olympiacos took the first step towards qualifying for the Women’s Volley League finals. Although Panathinaikos came back from 2-0 down to tie the game at 2-2, the “red and white” team eventually prevailed with a 3-2 set in a real thriller at “Melina Mercouri” and took the lead in qualifying.

Mitseli’s players came out strong from the start and took the lead. With Koumpoura as the protagonist, who “hit” relentlessly, and Emmanouilidou returning in good condition after her injury (10 points), the “red and white” team closed the first set with a 25-18 score and took the lead in winning.

The “greens” tried to respond and took the first points of the second set, but the duo composed of Bianca Farioll and Militsa Koumpura made the difference for Olympiacos, who went ahead again in the score.

Nizetich’s aces (11 points) were catalytic, the Piraeus team expanded its lead and eventually took the second set, 25-13.

However, Panathinaikos did not give up and reacted in the third set. It entered with a 0-4 lead and despite the fact that Olympiacos reduced and came close, the “greens” were able to stay ahead and took a 5-point lead, at 9-14.

The guests took a five-point lead again at 12-17, when after a wonderful reception by Konstantinou, Papafotiou played for Samadan who scored the point. The determined “greens” maintained their lead and closed the set with 18-25, reducing the deficit in sets.

Panathinaikos continued at the same pace at the start of the fourth set, taking a four-point lead, 7-3, and continuing at the same pace, with Papafotiou making it 10-5. Olympiacos came close to 10-12 with an ace by Emmanouilidou, but the “greens” quickly escaped at 11-15.

The “red and white” team continued to press and both teams went point by point, with Panathinaikos however remaining in the lead. The game took on a wild beauty, with the “green” team constantly putting up defenses and the “red and white” team chasing on foot.

Bianca Farioll won the point for 20-22, but the Panathinaikos players held on and won the set with 23-25, coming back from 2-0 to 2-2.

Bianca Farioll came on furiously for Olympiacos in the tie-break, giving the lead to Micheli’s players. The “greens”, however, were determined and the game continued to be a thriller with the two teams going point by point again, until Koumpoura “spoke” and Olympiacos closed the tie-break with 15-11 and took the victory with 3-2 sets.

Thus, Olympiacos made it “four out of four” against Panathinaikos this season and took another step towards winning the treble. Now the two teams renew their appointment for the second game, which will be held on Wednesday (9/4, 19:00, ERT) at the Mets Gymnasium.

Παρότι είδε τον Παναθηναϊκό να επιστρέφει από το 2-0, ο Ολυμπιακός βγήκε τελικά νικητής σε μια μεγάλη μάχη στο “Μελίνα Μερκούρη” με 3-2 σετ και έκανε το πρώτο βήμα πρόκρισης στους τελικούς της Volley League Γυναικών. Πρωταγωνίστρια η Κούμπουρα με 27 πόντους για τις “ερυθρόλευκες”, καθοριστική ήταν η Φαριόλ με 17.

Φτιαγμένος από ατσάλι ο Ολυμπιακός, έκανε το πρώτο βήμα πρόκρισης στους τελικούς της Volley League Γυναικών. Παρότι ο Παναθηναϊκός επέστρεψε από το 2-0 και ισοφάρισε σε 2-2, οι “ερυθρόλευκες” επικράτησαν τελικά με 3-2 σετ σε ένα πραγματικό θρίλερ στο “Μελίνα Μερκούρη” και πήραν προβάδισμα πρόκρισης.

Οι παίκτριες του Μιτσέλι μπήκαν δυνατά από την αρχή και πήραν ρόλο οδηγού. Με πρωταγωνίστρια την Κούμπουρα που “χτυπούσε” ανελιππώς και την Εμμανουηλίδου να επιστρέφει σε καλή κατάσταση μετά τον τραυματισμό της (10 πόντοι), οι “ερυθρόλευκες” έκλεισαν με 25-18 το πρώτο σετ και πήραν προβάδισμα νίκης.

Οι “πράσινες” προσπάθησαν να βγάλουν απάντηση και πήραν τους πρώτους πόντους του δεύτερου σετ, όμως το δίδυμο που συνέθεσαν οι Μπιάνκα Φαριόλ με την Μιλίτσα Κούμπουρα έκανε τη διαφορά για τον Ολυμπιακό που πέρασε ξανά μπροστά στο σκορ.

Οι άσσοι της Νίζετιχ (11 πόντοι) ήταν καταλυτικοί, η ομάδα του Πειραιά διεύρυνε το προβάδισμά της και τελικά πήρε και το δεύτερο σετ, με 25-13.

Ο Παναθηναϊκός όμως δεν το έβαλε κάτω και έβγαλε αντίδραση στο τρίτο σετ. Μπήκε με προβάδισμα 0-4 και παρά το γεγονός ότι ο Ολυμπιακός μείωσε και πλησίασε, οι “πράσινες” μπόρεσαν μείνουν μπροστά και πήραν διαφορά 5 πόντων, στο 9-14.

Οι φιλοξενούμενες πήραν ξανά “κεφάλι” πέντε πόντων στο 12-17, όταν έπειτα από υπέροχη υποδοχή της Κωνσταντίνου, η Παπαφωτίου έπαιξε για την Σάμανταν που σημείωσε τον πόντο. Οι αποφασισμένες “πράσινες” διατήρησαν το προβάδισμά τους και έκλεισαν το σετ με 18-25 μειώνοντας στα σετ.

Στον ίδιο ρυθμό συνέχισε και στο ξεκίνημα του τέταρτου σετ ο Παναθηναϊκός, που πήρε “αέρα” τεσσάρων πόντων, με 7-3, συνέχισαν στο ίδιο τέμπο και η Παπαφωτίου έκανε το 10-5. Ο Ολυμπιακός πλησίασε στο 10-12 με άσσο της Εμμανουηλίδου, αλλά οι “πράσινες” γρήγορα ξέφυγαν στο 11-15.

Οι “ερυθρόλευκες” συνέχισαν να πιέζουν και οι δύο ομάδες πήγαιναν πόντο πόντο, με τον Παναθηναϊκό όμως να μένει σε ρόλο οδηγού. Το παιχνίδι πήρε μια άγρια ομορφιά, με τις “πράσινες” να βγάζουν συνεχώς άμυνες και τις “ερυθρόλευκες” να κυνηγούν κατά πόδας.

Η Μπιάνκα Φαριόλ κέρδισε τον πόντο για το 20-22, όμως οι παίκτριες του Παναθηναϊκού άντεξαν και με 23-25 κατέκτησαν το σετ επιστρέφοντας από το 2-0 στο 2-2.

Η Μπιάνκα Φαριόλ μπήκε φουριόζα για τον Ολυμπιακό στο τάι-μπρέικ δίνοντας το προβάδισμα στις παίκτριες του Μιτσέλι. Οι “πράσινες” όμως ήταν αποφασισμένες και το παιχνίδι συνέχισε να έχει χαρακτήρα θρίλερ με τις δύο ομάδες να πηγαίνουν ξανά πόντο-πόντο, μέχρι που “μίλησε” η Κούμπουρα και ο Ολυμπιακός έκλεισε το τάι-μπρέικ με 15-11 και πήρε τη νίκη με 3-2 σετ.

Έτσι ο Ολυμπιακός έκανε το “τέσσερα στα τέσσερα” απέναντι στον Παναθηναϊκό τη φετινή σεζόν και έκανε άλλο ένα βήμα προς την κατάκτηση του τρεμπλ. Πλέον οι δύο ομάδες ανανεώνουν το ραντεβού τους για το δεύτερο παιχνίδι, που θα διεξαχθεί την Τετάρτη (9/4, 19:00, ΕΡΤ) στο Γυμναστήριο του Μετς.
