Έφυγε από τη ζωή εντελώς ξαφνικά ο πρόεδρος της Χέρτα, Κάι Μπέρνσταϊν, σε ηλικία μόλις 43 ετών. Ακόμη δεν έχουν γίνει γνωστά τα αίτια του θανάτου του, παρά μόνο πως δεν είχε κάποιο γνωστό πρόβλημα υγείας, με την είδηση του θανάτου του να σοκάρει όλη την ποδοσφαιρική κοινή γνώμη στη Γερμανία.
Ο εκλιπών, που είχε μία κόρη, είχε αναλάβει τα ηνία του συλλόγου του Βερολίνου το καλοκαίρι του 2022. Η Χέρτα είναι μετά από 17 αγωνιστικές έβδομη στη δεύτερη κατηγορία της Γερμανίας.
