The match

Η Μαρία Σάκκαρη βρέθηκε σε πολύ κακή μέρα και ηττήθηκε με 1-2 σετ από την Μπεατρίζ Αντάντ Μάια στο 2ο γύρο του Miami Open.

Η Μαρία Σάκκαρη πραγματοποίησε τη χειρότερη φετινή εμφάνιση στην πρεμιέρα της στο Miami Open και ηττήθηκε 6-4 1-6 2-6 από την Μπεατρίζ Αντάντ Μάια.

Η Βραζιλιάνα, νο61 της παγκόσμιας κατάταξης, εκμεταλλεύτηκε τα πολλά και διαρκή λάθη της Ελληνίδας πρωταθλήτριας και συντήρησε την πανωλεθρία των φαβορί στο 2ο γύρο του τουρνουά.

Το ματς

Η Σάκκαρη πήρε τα πρώτα δύο games του αγώνα, αν και ορισμένα προβλήματα στο πρώτο σερβίς κρατούσαν τη Βραζιλιάνα στον αγώνα. Μάλιστα, κάνοντας κι εκείνη break στην πρώτη ευκαιρία, έδωσε ενδιαφέρον στον αγώνα, μέχρι η Ελληνίδα πρωταθλήτρια κάνει το 4-2 και με συνοπτικές διαδικασίες "καθαρίσει" το 1ο σετ.

Το 2ο σετ ήταν ίσως το χειρότερο φετινό της Σάκκαρη. Ύστερα από το 1-1 έκανε αμέτρητα αβίαστα λάθη, διπλά λάθη στο σερβίς της, ενώ με τη Βραζιλιάνα να βγάζει καλές άμυνες όταν ανέβαινε στο φιλέ, ήρθαν τα δύο break της και το 6-1.

Η Σάκκαρη μπήκε δυνατά στο 3ο σετ, πήρε το πρώτο game χωρίς να χάσει πόντο, πάλεψε το 2ο και όλα κρίθηκαν στο 3ο. Έκανε δύο φορές διπλό λάθος και έπειτα από ορισμένα winner, η Αντάντ Μάια έκανε το break. Η εκνευρισμένη Σάκκαρη δεν μπόρεσε να σταθεί άλλο στον αγώνα, έχασε με διαδικαστικό τρόπο σχεδόν όλα τα υπόλοιπα games και αποκλείστηκε πρόωρα από το τουρνουά.

Ένα τουρνουά που αποχαιρέτησαν μεταξύ άλλων στο 2ο γύρο η Γέλενα Οσταπένκο, η Ελίζ Μέρτενς και η Ανέτ Κόνταβεϊτ και στο οποίο η Σάκκαρη μπορούσε να διεκδικήσει ακόμα και το νο2 στη WTA.
