Ο Τζον και ο Λορέντζο Μπράουν ήταν το "Α" και το "Ω" για την Ούνικς Καζάν, η οποία επέστρεψε -μετά από τρεις αναβολές λόγω κορονοϊού- δριμύτερη στην EuroLeague. Από την άλλη, οι 17 πόντοι του Κόρι Χίγκινς και η επιστροφή του Νικ Καλάθη (0/5 σουτ, 4 ριμπάουντ, 5 ασίστ) στο rotation δεν αποδείχθηκαν αρκετά για να γραφτεί διαφορετικά η ιστορία.
Ο αγώνας
Η Ούνικς Καζάν ήταν εντυπωσιακή στο πρώτο δεκάλεπτο, κρύβοντας το καλάθι σε μεγάλο μέρος αυτού. Ο Τζον Μπράουν ήταν ξανά αυτός που έκανε τη διαφορά στην άμυνα (είχε 3 κλεψίματα στην περίοδο), πλην όμως αποδείχθηκε εξίσου επιδραστικός στην επίθεση (11 πόντοι στο 10'). Το +3 (17-14) των γηπεδούχων στο 10ο λεπτό ήταν κατά βάση δικό του έργο, κάτι που επιβεβαιώθηκε μόλις πήγε στον πάγκο για να πάρει μερικές ανάσες.
Η Μπαρτσελόνα εκμεταλλεύτηκε την περίσταση, πάτησε το γκάζι και με δέκα αναπάντητους πόντους σε δυόμιση λεπτά έφερε τούμπα την κατάσταση (17-24 στο 13'). Παρά την ενεργοποίηση του Λορέντζο Μπράουν και τις προσπάθειες του Μάριο Χεζόνια, η ρωσική ομάδα δεν κατάφερε να αντιδράσει επί της ουσίας (δεδομένων κιόλας των 0/6 τριπόντων μέχρι την ανάπαυλα). Οι μπλαουγκράνα έμειναν σε θέση οδηγού μέχρι την ανάπαυλα (31-35), με τα ποσοστά τους να είναι σαφώς βελτιωμένα -είχαν 5/8 δίποντα, 3/7 τρίποντα και 2/2 βολές στη δεύτερη περίοδο.
Στο τρίτο δεκάλεπτο επαναλήφθηκε το σκηνικό του πρώτου. Η Ούνικς Καζάν έκρυψε το καλάθι στην Μπαρτσελόνα, με αποτέλεσμα να πέσουν αισθητά τα ισπανικά ποσοστά. Κάπως έτσι, κι αφού οι φιλοξενούμενοι έμειναν για περίπου πέντε λεπτά δίχως πόντο, η ομάδα του Βέλιμιρ Περάσοβιτς βρήκε τον τρόπο να μετατρέψει το -6 (35-41) σε +6 (47-41) στο 28ο λεπτό.
Πλέον όμως, τα χαμένα περιφερειακά σουτ εξελίσσονταν σε σοβαρό πρόβλημα για την Μπαρτσελόνα. Σε τέτοιο βαθμό, που η Ούνικς Καζάν βρήκε τους τρόπους για να διευρύνει το προβάδισμά της, φτάνοντας μέχρι το +10 (66-56) στα τρία λεπτά για το τέλος.
Ο Κόρι Χίγκινς και ο Κάιλ Κούριτς έκαναν ένα βήμα μπροστά για την ομάδα του Σαρούνας Γιασικεβίτσιους, αλλά ήταν αδύνατο να αλλάξει η ουσία. Εν αντιθέσει με ό,τι έγινε στο Palau Blaugrana πριν από περίπου ένα μήνα, αυτή τη φορά η Ούνικς Καζάν έμεινε μπροστά μέχρι το φινάλε, πήρε τη νίκη και υποχρέωσε την Μπαρτσελόνα σε τρίτη διαδοχική ήττα.
