Η Ούνικς Καζάν ξεκίνησε το παιχνίδι απέναντι στον Ερυθρό Αστέρα με το πόδι στο γκάζι κι έκτοτε δεν άφησε κανένα περιθώριο αντίδρασης στους ερυθρόλευκους. Οι παίκτες του Βέλιμιρ Περάσοβιτς σούταραν με εξαιρετικά ποσοστά από το τρίποντο και έφτασαν τις τέσσερις σερί νίκες (98-78), παραμένοντας εντός της πρώτης οκτάδας της κατάταξης στην EuroLeague.

Ο Νίκολα Κάλινιτς αποτέλεσε την αιχμή του δόρατος, παρά το γεγονός πως ήταν φορτωμένος με φάουλ, και μαζί με τον Μπράνκο Λάζιτς συνετέλεσαν προκειμένου το ρωσικό προβάδισμα να πέσει στο σουτ (32-35 στο 17').

Η αντίδραση των φιλοξενούμενων ήταν άμεση, με το ημίχρονο να κλείνει στο +8 (39-47) και τη συνέχεια να είναι ακόμη πιο επιβλητική. Μετά τη διακοπή για την ανάπαυλα, η Ούνικς Καζάν ξαναπάτησε το γκάζι και έφτασε μέχρι το +19 (44-63) στο 26ο λεπτό.
