“They opened the gates for free at Egypt-Zimbabwe because there were no people in the stadium”

A French publication reveals that the organizers of the Africa Cup of Nations opened the gates for Egypt-Zimbabwe due to the low attendance.

The very observant would have noticed that the stands at the Egypt-Zimbabwe match were filling up more and more as time went on, however, this was not due to any problem with the fans entering.

As reported by Le Parisien, the organizers of the Africa Cup of Nations decided to open the gates of the Adrar Stadium and allow free entry to the stadium, as the attendance up to that time was disappointing!

The report claims that CAF officials felt that the sight of empty stands would damage the image of the tournament, with news of the opening of the gates making the rounds of the city of Agadir and over 30,000 fans ultimately watching the match.

Γαλλικό δημοσίευμα αποκαλύπτει ότι οι διοργανωτές του Κυπέλλου Εθνών Αφρικής άνοιξαν τις θύρες στο Αίγυπτος-Ζιμπάμπουε λόγω της χαμηλής προσέλευσης.

Οι πολύ παρατηρητικοί θα πήραν είδηση ότι οι κερκίδες στην αναμέτρηση της Αιγύπτου με τη Ζιμπάμπουε γέμιζαν ολοένα και περισσότερο όσο περνούσε η ώρα, ωστόσο αυτό, δεν οφειλόταν σε κάποιο πρόβλημα κατά την είσοδο των οπαδών.

Όπως αναφέρει η Le Parisien, οι διοργανωτές του Κυπέλλου Εθνών Αφρικής αποφάσισαν να ανοίξουν τις θύρες του Adrar Stadium και να επιτρέψουν τη δωρεάν είσοδο στο γήπεδο, καθώς η προσέλευση μέχρι εκείνη την ώρα ήταν απογοητευτική!

Το ρεπορτάζ υποστηρίζει ότι οι ιθύνοντες της CAF θεώρησαν πως η θέα των άδειων κερκίδων θα έκαναν κακό στην εικόνα του τουρνουά, με τα νέα για το άνοιγμα των θυρών να κάνουν τον γύρο της πόλης Αγκαντίρ και πάνω από 30.000 φιλάθλους να βλέπουν, εντέλει, το ματς.
