Efes – Milan 93-97: Armani took the double overtime in Istanbul (video)
Armani came away victorious from Istanbul as they defeated Efes 97-93 after two overtimes for the 9th round of the Euroleague. Shields, Lenday, and Dozier were sensational for the losers.
Armani Milan came away victorious 97-93 from a sensational double overtime game against Efes for the 9th round of the Euroleague.
In a game that had it all, big runs, upsets and great protagonists, Shields and Lenday were decisive for the Italian team with 25 and 24 points respectively.
Shields was the top scorer of the match, with 6/8 three-point shots, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and a 30-point rating, and seemed to refuse to lose.
Another player who refused to lose was the sensational PJ Dozier. The American scored 34 points with 10/13 two-pointers, 4/6 three-pointers, 4 assists and a 34-point rating.
Unfortunately, one of the two had to lose and it took 2 overtimes to happen.
The match
Efes started the match somewhat hesitantly and struggled to score, until Dozier set the tone, scoring 7 points in the first period to tie the game.
In the second quarter, it was Osmani who scored 7 points for the Turks, to be continued by Dozier, who reached 17 points in the first half, without missing a shot and the home team went ahead in the score in the locker room.
Messina's players came out very strong in the second half. They found big shots with Lenday and Shields, easy baskets and good defenses, they ran a 14-0 run and made it 48-45 which was the score at the middle of the period 48-59.
The home team remained scoreless for almost six minutes, until Larkin scored in front of Ritchie, having entered the fourth period. The Turks tried to run the court with every defense they could muster and cut the deficit to 57-63 before Shields hit another big three-pointer for 57-66.
Somewhere there, Larkin took over to lead the Turks and with the help of Lloyd and Dozier they brought the game to 68-70 with 80″ remaining.
Gudurić made a difficult basket to make it 70-73 with 20″ remaining and Dozier, who was not going to give up on this terrible night, tied the game from the top.
The rodeo continued after Wyler-Bub stole the ball from Bolmaro on the Italians’ last attack and even won a foul to avoid being caught off guard with 2 seconds remaining. Osmani took the shot and missed under pressure as the game went into overtime.
There, the visitors once again used the three-pointer to escape with 6 (73-79). The hosts responded with a 7-0 run of their own, making it 80-79, before Messina interrupted them with a timeout.
Dozier and Shields continued to show that they did not want to lose tonight and were the last to score for 84-84, which was the score of the first overtime.
In the second overtime, the home team lost Osmani with his 5th foul sending him to the bench with 42’44” of playing time. Dozier continued his work and made it 89-91 with a three-pointer. The Italians took a four-point lead (91-95) with two well-aimed shots by Shields with 40″ on the clock and were the ones who smiled last after 50 minutes of play.

Η Αρμάνι έφυγε νικήτρια από την Κωνσταντινούπολη καθώς επικράτησε της Εφές με 97-93 μετά από δύο παρατάσεις για την 9η αγωνιστική της Euroleague. Συγκλονιστικοί οι Σίλντς, Λεντέι, αλλά και ο Ντοζίερ για τους ηττημένους.
Η Αρμάνι Μιλάνο έφυγε νικήτρια με 97-93 από ένα συγκλονιστικό παιχνίδι δύο παρατάσεων απέναντι στην Εφές για την 9η αγωνιστική της Euroleague.
Σε ένα παιχνίδι που τα είχε όλα, μεγάλα σερί, ανατροπές και σπουδαίους πρωταγωνιστές, Σίλντς και Λεντέι ήταν καθοριστικοί για την Ιταλική ομάδα με 25 και 24 πόντους αντίστοιχα.
Κορυφαίος της αναμέτρησης ο Σιλντς που είχε 6/8 σουτ τριών πόντων, 5 ριμπάουντ, 4 ασίστ με 30 πόντους στην αξιολόγηση και φαινόταν να αρνείται να χάσει.
Ακόμη ένας που αρνούταν να χάσει ήταν ο συγκλονιστικό Πι Τζέι Ντοσίερ. Ο Αμερικανός πέτυχε 34 πόντους με 10/13 δίποντα, 4/6 τρίποντα, 4 ασίστ και 34 πόντους στην αξιολόγηση.
Ένας από τους δύο δυστυχώς έπρεπε να χάσει και χρειάστηκαν 2 παρατάσεις για να συμβεί.
Ο αγώνας
Η Εφές ξεκίνησε κάπως διστακτικά στο ματς και δυσκολευόταν να βρει σκορ, μέχρι που έδωσε τον τόνο ο Ντοζίερ που με 7 πόντους στην πρώτη περίοδο ισορρόπησε το παιχνίδι.
Στο δεύτερο δεκάλεπτο ήταν ο Οσμανί που πέτυχε 7 μαζεμένους πόντους για τους Τούρκους, για να συνεχίσει ο Ντοζίερ, ο οποίος έφτασε τους 17 πόντους στο πρώτο μέρος, χωρίς να χάσει σουτ και οι γηπεδούχοι πήγαν μπροστά στο σκορ στα αποδυτήρια.
Οι παίκτες του Μεσίνα βγήκαν πολύ δυνατά στο δεύτερο μέρος. Βρήκαν μεγάλα σουτ με Λεντέι και Σιλντς, εύκολα καλάθια και καλές άμυνες, έτρεξαν σερί 14-0 και έκαναν το 48-45 που ήταν το σκόρ στα μέσα της περιόδου 48-59.
Σχεδόν έξι λεπτά έμειναν οι γηπεδούχοι χωρίς σκορ, μέχρι που ο Λάρκιν σκόραρε μπροστά στην Ρίτσι, έχοντας μπει στην τέταρτη περίοδο. Οι Τούρκοι προσπάθησαν να τρέξουν το γήπεδο με κάθε άμυνα που κατάφερναν να βγάλουν και μείωσαν σε 57-63 πριν ο Σιλντς πετύχει ακόμα ένα μεγάλο τρίποντο για το 57-66.
Κάπου εκεί ανέλαβε ο Λάρκιν να οδηγήσει τους Τούρκους και με τη βοήθεια των Λόιντ και Ντοζίερ έφτασαν το παιχνίδι στο 68-70 με 80″ να απομένουν.
Ο Γκούντουριτς με ένα δύσκολο καλάθι έκανε το 70-73 με 20″ να απομένουν και ο Ντοζίερ που δεν δεχόταν να χάσει στην τρομερή αυτή βραδιά του ισοφάρισε από την κορυφή.
Το ροντέο συνεχίστηκε αφού ο Γουάιλερ-Μπαμπ έκλεψε τη μπάλα από τον Μπολμάρο στην τελευταία επίθεση των Ιταλών και μάλιστα κέρδισε φάουλ για να μη βγει στον αιφνιδιασμό με 2 δευτερόλεπτα να απομένουν. Ο Οσμανί πήρε την προσπάθεια και αστόχησε υπό πίεση με το παιχνίδι να πηγαίνει στην παράταση.
Εκεί οι φιλοξενούμενοι ακόμα μια φορά με όπλο το τρίποντο ξέφυγαν με 6 (73-79). Οι γηπεδούχοι απάντησαν με δικό τους σερί 7-0, κάνοντας το 80-79, πριν ο Μεσίνα τους διακόψει με τάιμ άουτ.
Ντοζίερ και Σιλντς συνέχισαν να δείχνουν ότι δεν θέλουν να χάσουν απόψε και ήταν οι τελευταίοι που σκόραραν για το 84-84 που ήταν και το σκορ της πρώτης παράτασης.
Στη δεύτερη παράταση οι γηπεδούχοι έχασαν τον Οσμανί με το 5ο του φάουλ να τον στέλνει στον πάγκο με 42’44” αγωνιστικού χρόνου. Ο Ντοζίερ συνέχισε τα δικά του και έκανε το 89-91 με τρίποντο. Οι Ιταλοί πήραν προβάδισμα τεσσάρων πόντων (91-95) με δύο εύστοχες βολές του Σίλντς με 40″ στο ρολόι και ήταν εκείνοι που χαμογέλασαν τελευταίοι μετά από 50 αγωνιστικά λεπτά.
