The Women's National Team suffered its second consecutive defeat in the second week of the Golden European League, this time with a 3-1 set against the host Romania, in its last game for this phase.

Our representative team entered the match dynamically and won the first set. However, in the next three sets, Apostolos Economou's team gave in to the details.

It is worth noting that three of the four sets were decided in overtime. This was the second defeat for Greece in as many games in Romania.

The top scorer for our National Team was Martha Anthouli with 21 points, followed by Elena Baca with 17 points. On the Romanian side, Celuta led the way with 21 points, Budai with 20 and Bouterez added another 18.

The “blue and white” team presented a competitive face, showing that it has the potential, but now turns its attention to the next phase of the competition, aiming to recover and return to victories.

Greece entered the match with confidence and maintained a lead for most of the first set, reaching 13-15. However, as the finale approached, the pressure increased and errors – mainly on the serve – made their appearance. Romania took advantage of the opportunities and with an impressive 5-0 run took a lead of 23-19. Despite the negative momentum, Greece tied the game at 24-24, saving three set points and eventually overturning the deficit by winning 26-28.

The poor start in the second set (5-1) put the National Team in a position of a hunter, despite a small counterattack that gave them the lead (8-10). Then, effortless mistakes at crucial points cost them the set, with Romania prevailing 25-22 and tying the game.

The third set evolved into a derby, with the two teams keeping pace in the score and neither team breaking away. The National Team tied the game at 9-9 and the score was “tight” until 24-24. There, however, a mistake by the “blue and white” team tipped the scales in favor of Romania, who took the set 26-24.

In the fourth set, Greece led 10-11 and then came back with a score of 18-22, showing that they could tie the game. However, another competitive blackout in the final set gave Romania a chance to come back. The home team tied the score at 24-24 and eventually won the fourth set 29-27, sealing the victory with a score of 3-1.

Τη δεύτερη συνεχόμενη ήττα της γνώρισε η Εθνική Γυναικών στη δεύτερη εβδομάδα του Golden European League, αυτή τη φορά με 3-1 σετ από την οικοδέσποινα Ρουμανία, στο τελευταίο της παιχνίδι για τη συγκεκριμένη φάση.

Το αντιπροσωπευτικό μας συγκρότημα μπήκε δυναμικά στον αγώνα και κατέκτησε το πρώτο σετ. Ωστόσο, στα τρία επόμενα σετ, το σύνολο του Απόστολου Οικονόμου λύγισε στις λεπτομέρειες.

Αξίζει να σημειωθεί πως τρία από τα τέσσερα σετ κρίθηκαν στην παράταση. Αυτή ήταν η δεύτερη ήττα για την Ελλάδα σε ισάριθμα παιχνίδια στη Ρουμανία.

Πρώτη σκόρερ για την Εθνική μας ήταν η Μάρθα Ανθούλη με 21 πόντους, ενώ ακολούθησε η Έλενα Μπάκα με 17 πόντους. Από την πλευρά της Ρουμανίας, κορυφαίες ήταν η Τσελούτα με 21 πόντους, η Μπουντάι με 20 και η Μπουτέρεζ που πρόσθεσε άλλους 18.

Η «γαλανόλευκη» παρουσίασε ανταγωνιστικό πρόσωπο, δείχνοντας πως έχει τις δυνατότητες, όμως πλέον στρέφει την προσοχή της στην επόμενη φάση της διοργάνωσης, με στόχο την ανάκαμψη και την επιστροφή στις νίκες.

Η Ελλάδα μπήκε με αυτοπεποίθηση στο ματς και διατηρούσε προβάδισμα στο μεγαλύτερο μέρος του πρώτου σετ, φτάνοντας στο 13-15. Ωστόσο, όσο πλησίαζε το φινάλε, η πίεση αυξανόταν και τα λάθη –κυρίως στο σερβίς– έκαναν την εμφάνισή τους. Η Ρουμανία εκμεταλλεύτηκε τις ευκαιρίες και με ένα εντυπωσιακό σερί 5-0 πήρε προβάδισμα 23-19. Παρά το αρνητικό μομέντουμ, η Ελλάδα ισοφάρισε σε 24-24, σώζοντας τρία σετ πόιντ και τελικά έκανε την ανατροπή επικρατώντας με 26-28.

Το κακό ξεκίνημα στο δεύτερο σετ (5-1) έφερε την Εθνική σε θέση κυνηγού, παρά τη μικρή αντεπίθεση που της έδωσε το προβάδισμα (8-10). Στη συνέχεια, τα αβίαστα λάθη στα κρίσιμα σημεία της στέρησαν το σετ, με τη Ρουμανία να επικρατεί 25-22 και να ισοφαρίζει.

Το τρίτο σετ εξελίχθηκε σε ντέρμπι, με τις δύο ομάδες να συμβαδίζουν στο σκορ και καμία να μην ξεφεύγει. Η Εθνική ισοφάρισε σε 9-9 και το σκορ ήταν «σφιχτό» μέχρι και το 24-24. Εκεί, όμως, ένα λάθος της «γαλανόλευκης» έγειρε την πλάστιγγα υπέρ της Ρουμανίας, που πήρε το σετ 26-24.

Στο τέταρτο σετ, η Ελλάδα προηγήθηκε 10-11 και λίγο αργότερα ξέφυγε με 18-22, δείχνοντας πως μπορεί να φέρει το παιχνίδι στα ίσα. Ωστόσο, ένα νέο αγωνιστικό «μπλακ άουτ» στο φινάλε έδωσε την ευκαιρία στη Ρουμανία να επιστρέψει. Η γηπεδούχος ομάδα ισοφάρισε σε 24-24 και τελικά κατέκτησε το τέταρτο σετ 29-27, σφραγίζοντας τη νίκη με 3-1.
