EuroLeague: Teams to expand from 18 to 20, Dubai BC and Valencia included

The EuroLeague Basketball shareholders’ meeting has concluded and it has been decided to expand the number of teams from 18 to 20, with Dubai BC and Valencia being the teams to be added.

The die has been cast on EuroLeague Basketball. The shareholders’ meeting has concluded and it has been decided to expand the number of teams in the 2025/26 season from 18 to 20. The two teams to be included in the new format will be Dubai BC and Valencia. CSKA was left out again, due to the situation in Ukraine.

The possibility of increasing the number of teams from the new season had been on the table for some time, with the name of Dubai BC being the obvious one, due to the large investment that has been made in the organization, while Valencia is a permanent member of EuroLeague Basketball, so it was rewarded for this.

The other teams – in addition to the 12 shareholders, that is, apart from CSKA – that won the right to participate in the organization are the EuroCup holder – Hapoel Tel Aviv, Monaco, Paris, Partizan, Red Star and Virtus Bologna.

As it becomes clear, the increase in teams means that there will also be an increase in games, since the competition days will now be 38 and not 34. This probably also implies an increase in the devil weeks, unless it is decided to start the new season a little earlier.

Το συμβούλιο των μετόχων της EuroLeague Basketball ολοκληρώθηκε και αποφασίστηκε να υπάρξει αύξηση των ομάδων από τις 18 στις 20, με την Dubai BC και την Βαλένθια να είναι οι ομάδες που θα προστεθούν.

Ο κύβος ερρίφθη στην EuroLeague Basketball. Το συμβούλιο των μετόχων ολοκληρώθηκε και πάρθηκε η απόφαση να αυξηθούν οι ομάδες την σεζόν 2025/26 από τις 18 στις 20. Οι δύο ομάδες που θα συμπεριληφθούν στο νέο φορμάτ θα είναι η Dubai BC και η Βαλένθια. Εκτός έμεινε, πάλι, η ΤΣΣΚΑ, λόγω της κατάστασης στην Ουκρανία.

Το ενδεχόμενο να αυξηθούν οι ομάδες από την νέα σεζόν είχε πέσει στο τραπέζι εδώ και καιρό, με το όνομα της Dubai BC να είναι το προφανές, λόγω της μεγάλης επένδυσης που έχει γίνει στην διοργάνωση, ενώ η Βαλένθια αποτελεί μόνιμο μέλος της EuroLeague Basketball, οπότε ανταμείφθηκε για αυτό.

Οι άλλες ομάδες – πέρα από τους 12 μετόχους, εκτός δηλαδή της ΤΣΣΚΑ – που κέρδισαν το δικαίωμα παρουσίας τους στην διοργάνωση είναι η – κάτοχος του EuroCup – Χάποελ Τελ Αβίβ, η Μονακό, η Παρί, η Παρτίζαν, ο Ερυθρός Αστέρας και η Βίρτους Μπολόνια.

Όπως γίνεται σαφές, η αύξηση των ομάδων σημαίνει ότι θα υπάρξει και αύξηση των παιχνιδιών, αφού πλέον οι αγωνιστικές θα είναι πλέον 38 και όχι 34. Αυτό πιθανότατα συνεπάγεται και αύξηση των διαβολοβδομάδων, εκτός αν αποφασιστεί να ξεκινήσει η νέα σεζόν λίγο νωρίτερα.

Οι 20 ομάδες που θα συνθέσουν την EuroLeague της σεζόν 2025/26 είναι οι εξής:
