Το πολύ δύσκολο πρόγραμμα που είχε ως τώρα η Αρμάνι Μιλάνο δεν τη βοήθησε να κάνει νίκη στις τρεις πρώτες αγωνιστικές. Η ιταλική ομάδα αντιμετώπισε κατά σειρά τις ΤΣΣΚΑ Μόσχας (εκτός), Φενέρμπαχτσε (εντός) και Ρεάλ Μαδρίτης (εκτός), με το 0/3 να έρχεται μάλλον φυσιολογικά. Ποια ομάδα θα μπορούσε να είχε πάει πολύ καλύτερα άλλωστε;
Απέναντι στην Μπαρτσελόνα όμως, τα πράγματα ήταν διαφορετικά. Οι παίκτες του Σιμόνε Πιανιτζάνι έδειξαν αυτοπεποίθηση και ετοιμότητα για να φτάσουν εκεί που ήθελαν, με τους Τζόρνταν Θίοντορ και Αρτούρας Γκουντάιτις να αποδεικνύονται πολύτιμοι στο φινάλε του αγώνα, που έφερε το πρώτο θετικό αποτέλεσμα (78-74).
Οι "μπλαουγκράνα" έδειχναν αξιόπιστοι για κάτι παραπάνω από τρεις περιόδους, αφού -με τον έναν ή τον άλλον τρόπο- διατηρούσαν το προβάδισμα. Πότε χάρη στο γρήγορο σκοράρισμα του Χουάν Κάρλος Ναβάρο (είχε 11π. σε 5' στη β' περίοδο), πότε χάρη στην δράση του Τομά Ερτέλ έβρισκαν πηγές σκοραρίσματος.
Όταν όμως το παιχνίδι άρχισε να ζορίζει, τότε εμφανίστηκαν οι Τζόρνταν Θίοντορ και Αρτούρας Γκουντάιτις. Οι δυο τους αποτέλεσαν τους πιο σημαντικούς παράγοντες του αγώνα στα τελευταία πέντε λεπτά, με τον πρώτο να προσφέρει μαζεμένους πόντους και τον δεύτερο να προστατεύει υποδειγματικά τη ρακέτα.
Κάπως έτσι, η ομάδα του Σιμόνε Πιανιτζάνι έφτασε στην πρώτη της νίκη στην EuroLeague και σίγουρα κοιτάζει με μεγαλύτερη αισιοδοξία τη συνέχεια της διοργάνωσης. Κάτι που πιθανότατα δεν ισχύει για την Μπαρτσελόνα των τριών διαδοχικών ηττών -μετά το +27 επί του Παναθηναϊκού Superfoods.
