The Greek Women's National Volleyball Team did its duty as it prevailed 3-1 in Tallinn and closed the European League with three points!

The Greek Women's National Volleyball Team closed the European League with three points! Apostolos Economou's team, after the shock defeat by Latvia, saw the last match against Estonia as a final and did it right! The "blue and white" prevailed 3-1 in Tallinn and closed the tournament with five wins in six matches!

A convincing performance from Greece, which, barring a shocking upset, will be outside the group stage with a 5-1 record and a 17-7 record. Martha Anthouli was the top scorer for the National Team, who finished the match with 27 points.

With Markella Papageorgiou in the starting lineup instead of Aristea Tontai, who was psychologically affected by her first defeat in the tournament, our National Team found itself early in the closed "Kalevi Spordihall" chasing the home team.

On the other hand, Estonia, with high morale from its maiden victory in the tournament and the support of its approximately 500 fans, pressed effectively from the service line, with Laak creating major problems for the Greek reception. Despite the corrective moves of the Federal coach Apostolos Economou with the entry of Tikmanidou in place of Bakas, the home team quickly escaped with 11-2 and, taking advantage of new mistakes by our internationals, they then maintained the lead with 16-9. Bakodimou was replaced by Klepkou, however, the home team again remained effective in blocking defense with 21-14 from Tikmanidou's lost serve. The National Team, with a 4-0 individual point run, temporarily "nibbled" the difference at 21-18 to repay the 4-0 run by the home team and with Laak as the protagonist catching a double-digit number of points (11) reached 25-18 from the double block on Bakodimou to win the set, 1-0.

With Tontai and Bakodimou starting in the original formation of the second set instead of Hadjiefstratiadou and Baka respectively, our National Team took the lead for the first time in the game 2-0, while Papageorgiou and a violation by the home team made it 9-6. The 11-7 was made by another mistake by Estonia, with the pressing serve of our internationals and the very clever pass by Konstantinidou the score expanded to 15-10. However, the well-established opponent's block and the execution skill of Laak "closed the gap" of the difference" to 15-13. However, our internationals increased the pace, with an ace by Tondai and a pipe by Tikmanidou they reached 20-14 and with an ace by Bakodimos they reached 24-17. Finally, the National Team, despite the heroic counterattack of the Estonians, celebrated with 25-20, thanks to the out-serve of Hola, tying the set 1-1.

The start of the 3rd set was lopsided with the two teams going hand in hand in the score until 7-7 as Veres, an out-attack by Bakodimos and a block by the Estonians, gave Mr. Sepanen's team a 10-7 lead. At 13-8, with the National Team not having easy finishes, Baka entered the match instead of Bakodimou, but the home team, with effective blocks and doses of… luck, reached 16-11. With Papagerogiou causing cracks with her serve in the opponent's reception, Greece reduced the score to 16-15 with a pass from Tondai and a counterattack from Anthouli. Once again, however, Estonia reacted and with Laak "shooting" and on the serve, the difference rose again to +4, 19-15. Mr. Economou's athletes did not give up, with well-aimed attempts at blocking and an attack from Tikmanidou they brought the difference back to the point, 19-18, for Anthouli to then achieve 20-20. With an ace by Tikmanidou, the National Team overtook us after an hour 20-19, but Estonia, with a block by Baka, tied the score at 23-23. In the end, it was Anthouli who, with two attacks, matched the winning sets of the National Team with 25-23, which laid the foundations for the upset with 2-1.

A battle also took place at the beginning of the 4th set, with the National Team coming in strongly, determined to finish the game. Despite the resistance of the Laak team, the lost serve by Milen put Greece in the lead with 8-6. Good play in block-defense and an ace by Papageorgiou increased the difference and with Anthouli providing solutions, our representative group escaped 15-10. With the National Team now having the "momentum" in the game, Tondai's ace and the unstoppable Anthouli increased the difference to +7, 18-12. Somewhere there, despite the fighting spirit of the Estonians who, with a sustained counterattack and our own mistakes, reduced it to 23-19, Greece reached "by the hand" of Anthouli with 25-19 to win the 3-1 set and the successful finale of our National Team in the tournament.

Η Εθνική βόλεϊ γυναικών, έκανε το καθήκον της καθώς επικράτησε 3-1 σετ της Εσθονίας στο Ταλίν και έκλεισε με τρίποντο το European League!

Έκλεισε με τρίποντο το European League η Εθνική γυναικών! Η ομάδα του Απόστολου Οικονόμου, μετά την ήττα-σοκ από τη Λετονία, είδε ως τελικό την τελευταία αναμέτρηση με την Εσθονία και το έκανε σωστά! Οι «γαλανόλευκες» επικράτησαν 3-1 σετ της οικοδέσποινας ομάδας στο Ταλίν και έκλεισαν το τουρνουά με πέντε νίκες σε έξι ματς!

Πειστική εμφάνιση από την Ελλάδα, η οποία εκτός συγκλονιστικότατου απροόπτου θα είναι εκτός εξάδας με ρεκόρ 5-1 και 17-7 ρεκόρ. Κορυφαία για την Εθνική η Μάρθα Ανθούλη η οποία ολοκλήρωσε το ματς με 27 πόντους.

Το ματς:

Με τη Μαρκέλλα Παπαγεωργίου στο βασικό σχήμα αντί της Αριστέας Τοντάι, η επηρεασμένη ψυχολογικά από την πρώτη της ήττα στη διοργάνωση, Εθνική μας βρέθηκε από νωρίς στο κλειστό «Kalevi Spordihall» να κυνηγά τις γηπεδούχες.

Αντίθετα η Εσθονία, με ψυχολογία στα ύψη από την παρθενική της νίκη στη διοργάνωση και την υποστήριξη των περίπου 500 φιλάθλων της, πίεσε αποτελεσματικά από τη γραμμή του σερβίς, με τη Λαάκ να δημιουργεί μεγάλα προβλήματα στην ελληνική υποδοχή. Παρά τις διορθωτικές κινήσεις του Ομοσπονδιακού τεχνικού Απόστολου Οικονόμου με την είσοδο της Τικμανίδου στη θέση της Μπάκα, οι γηπεδούχες ξέφυγαν γρήγορα με 11-2 και εκμεταλλευόμενες νέα λάθη των διεθνών μας διατήρησαν στη συνέχεια το προβάδισμα με 16-9. Ακολούθησε η αλλαγή της Μπακοδήμου με την Κλέπκου, ωστόσο ξανά οι γηπεδούχες με αποτελεσματικότητα σε μπλοκ άμυνα παρέμειναν με 21-14 από το χαμένο σερβίς της Τικμανίδου. Η Εθνική με ένα επιμέρους σερί πόντων 4-0, «ροκάνισε» προσωρινά τη διαφορά στο 21-18 για να ανταποδώσει το σερί 4-0 η γηπεδούχος και με πρωταγωνίστρια την Λαακ να πιάνει διψήφιο αριθμό πόντων (11) έφτασε με 25-18 από το διπλό μπλοκ στη Μπακοδήμου στην κατάκτηση του σετ, 1-0.

Με τις Τοντάι και Μπακοδήμου να ξεκινάνε στο αρχικό σχήμα του β’ σετ αντί των Χατζηευστρατιάδου και Μπάκα αντίστοιχα, η Εθνική μας προηγήθηκε για πρώτη φορά στο παιχνίδι 2-0, ενώ Παπαγεωργίου και παράβαση των γηπεδούχων έκαναν το 9-6. Το 11-7 έγινε από νέο λάθος της Εσθονίας, με το πιεστικό σερβίς των διεθνών μας και το πανέξυπνο πέρασμα της Κωνσταντινίδου το σκορ διευρύνθηκε σε 15-10. Ωστόσο το καλοστημένο αντίπαλο μπλοκ και η εκτελεστική δεινότητα της Λάακ «έκλεισαν την ψαλίδα» της διαφοράς» σε 15-13. Οι διεθνείς μας όμως ανέβασαν ρυθμό, με άσο της Τοντάι και pipe της Τικμανίδου έφτασαν στο 20-14 και με άσο της Μπακοδήμου στο 24-17. Τελικά η Εθνική, παρά την ηρωική αντεπίθεση των Εσθονών, πανηγύρισαν με 25-20, χάρις στο άουτ σέρβις της Χόλας την ισοφάριση 1-1 σετ.

Αμφίρροπο ήταν το ξεκίνημα του 3ο σετ με τις δύο ομάδες να πηγαίνουν χέρι- χέρι στο σκορ μέχρι το 7-7 καθώς Βέρες, άουτ επίθεση της Μπακοδήμου και μπλοκ των Εσθονών , έδωσαν αέρα 10-7 στην ομάδα του κ. Σέπανεν. Στο 13-8, με την Εθνική να μην έχει εύκολα τελειώματα, η Μπάκα πέρασε στο ματς αντί της Μπακοδήμου, αλλά οι γηπεδούχες με αποτελεσματικό μπλοκ και δόσεις… τύχης έφτασαν στο 16-11. Με την Παπαγέρωγίου να προκαλεί ρήγματα με το σερβίς της στην αντίπαλη υποδοχή, η Ελλάδα μείωσε με πέρασμα της Τοντάι και κόντρα επίθεση της Ανθούλη σε 16-15. Για μια ακόμη φορά όμως η Εσθονία αντέδρασε και με την Λαάκ να «πυροβολεί» και στο σερβίς η διαφορά ανέβηκε ξανά στο +4, 19-15. Οι αθλήτριες του κ. Οικονόμου δεν το βαλαν κάτω, με εύστοχες προσπάθειες σε μπλοκ και επίθεση της Τικμανίδου έφεραν ξανά τη διαφορά στον πόντο, 19-18 για να πετύχει το 20-20 στη συνέχεια η Ανθούλη. Με άσο της Τικμανίδου η Εθνική μας προσπέρασε μετά από ώρα 20-19, όμως η Εσθονία με μπλοκ στη Μπάκα ισοφάρισε 23-23. Τελικά η Ανθούλη ήταν αυτή που με δύο επιθέσεις της ζευγάρωσε με 25-23 τα κερδισμένα σετ της Εθνικής που με 2-1 έβαλε τις βάσεις για την ανατροπή.

Μάχη έγινε και στο ξεκίνημα του 4ου σετ με την Εθνική να μπαίνει δυνατά αποφασισμένη να τελειώσει το παιχνίδι. Παρά την αντίσταση της παρέας της Λάακ το χαμένο σερβίς της Μίλεν έβαλε στη θέση οδηγού με 8-6 την Ελλάδα. Καλό παιχνίδι σε μπλοκ-άμυνα και άσος της Παπαγεωργίου ανέβασαν τη διαφορά και με την Ανθούλη να δίνει λύσεις, το αντιπροσωπευτικό μας συγκρότημα ξέφυγε 15-10. Έχοντας πλέον η Εθνική το «μομέντουμ» στο παιχνίδι ο άσος της Τοντάι και η ασταμάτητη Ανθούλη ανέβασε τη διαφορά στο +7, 18-12. Κάπου εκεί παρά την μαχητικότητα των Εσθονών που με αντεπίθεση διαρκείας και δικά μας λάθη μείωσαν σε 23-19, η Ελλάδα έφτασε «δια χειρός» Ανθούλη με 25-19 στην κατάκτηση της νίκης 3-1 σετ και το επιτυχημένο φινάλε της Εθνικής μας ομάδας στη διοργάνωση.
