Real Madrid played an effective defense in Bulgaria, defeated Hapoel (87-78) and made it 3-1 in the series, to "check" its ticket to the Final Four in Athens. Now, Sergio Scariolo's team awaits the winner of the Panathinaikos - Valencia pair in the semi-finals of the competition.
The "queen" confirmed its superiority in the series with Hapoel Tel Aviv and despite the absence of Eddie Tavares reached 3-1. Oturou vs Hezonia at the start of Game 4
The Israelis started Game 4 impressively (13-4 in 4'), with Daniel Oturou (10pts with 5/6 2pts) taking full advantage of Vasilije Misic's creations (4as.). However, the entry of Usman Garuba and the step up of Mario Hezonja quickly changed the picture of the match. The Madrid team balanced the data (15-15 at 7', 7 points and 3 assists by "Super Mario") and completed the 1st period at +2 (21-23 at 10'), after successive personal actions by Teo Malendon.
Real took... the helm of the 4th match
The second unit of the Spaniards with an imposing "outburst" found itself at +10 (21-31 at 12') and at +14 (21-36 at 14') in dt time in the 2nd quarter. However, at that point Hapoel reacted. Dimitris Itoudis brought Yam Mandar into the game, Misic did a good job (7pts, 5as) and the gap returned to single digits (30-39 at 17'). In fact, with Otourou making... a splash (18pts with 9/11 two-pointers and Len's earned 3rd foul), the team from Tel Aviv felt "alive" again (34-39 at 18'). Nevertheless, the first half "closed" with the "queen" at the... helm (36-46 at 20' with a three-pointer by Facundo Campazzo at the buzzer).
Misic and Oturou went all in, the Spaniards held the upper hand. The guests seemed to be in control (40-52 at 24'), but Misic, with his best performance in the series, refused to give up and the Israelis continued to have a "pulse" (47-54 at 26', 16 points and 6 assists by the Serb). At the same time, Oturou also showed... his soul (21 points at 24'28'' from 27'26'') and Itoudis passed Jonathan Motley for the first time in the match, giving his main center a "breathing opportunity" (49-56 score with Real not "cleaning up" the match due to its 15 errors). The problem for Hapoel, of course, was found in the failure of Eliza Bryant (1/8 two-pointers, 1/2 three-pointers). In any case, Scariolo's players still had the "upper hand", since Malenton made... a breakthrough (53-63 at 30', 14pts. the French guard).
The superior Real Madrid did the... job in Bulgaria

The sand in the hourglass began to empty for Hapoel, Bryant hit the iron and shortly afterwards Misic missed a layup in transition. Real continued to throw successive possessions in the "trash", but so did the Israelis, who had run out of strength. Essentially, Garuba's two-pointer (68-79 in 38') was the one that "sealed" the Spanish double, but also their qualification to the Final Four (78-87 final).

Η «βασίλισσα» επιβεβαίωσε την ανωτερότητά της στη σειρά με τη Χάποελ Τελ Αβίβ και παρά την απουσία του Έντι Ταβάρες έφτασε στο 3-1. Στην αντίπερα όχθη, το δίδυμο Νταν Οτούρου (29 πόντοι σε 33' με 14/21 δίποντα και ρεκόρ καριέρας) και Βασίλιε Μίσιτς (18 πόντοι, 7 ριμπάουντ, 11 ασίστ) τα έδωσε όλα, αλλά δεν ήταν αρκετό. Η απουσία του Αντόνιο Μπλέικνι δεν καλύφθηκε, ο Ελάιζα Μπράιαντ ήταν άστοχος (3/12 σουτ) και οι Ισραηλινοί σε όλο το ματς «κυνηγούσαν» τους αντιπάλους τους, μην μπορώντας να τους φτάσουν.
Οτούρου vs Χεζόνια στο ξεκίνημα του Game 4
Οι Ισραηλινοί ξεκίνησαν εντυπωσιακά το Game 4 (13-4 στο 4'), με τον Ντάνιελ Οτούρου (10π. με 5/6 2π.) να εκμεταλλεύεται στο έπακρον τις δημιουργίες του Βασίλιε Μίσιτς (4ασ.). Όμως, η είσοδος του Ουσμάν Γκαρούμπα και το step up του Μάριο Χεζόνια άλλαξε γρήγορα την εικόνα του αγώνα. Οι Μαδριλένοι ισορρόπησαν τα δεδομένα (15-15 στο 7', 7π. και 3ασ. ο «Σούπερ Μάριο») και ολοκλήρωσαν την 1η περίοδο στο +2 (21-23 στο 10'), έπειτα από διαδοχικές προσωπικές ενέργειες του Τεό Μαλεντόν.
Η Ρεάλ πήρε το... τιμόνι του 4ου αγώνα
Η second unit των Ισπανών με ένα επιβλητικό «ξέσπασμα» βρέθηκε στο +10 (21-31 στο 12') και στο +14 (21-36 στο 14') σε χρόνο dt στο 2ο δεκάλεπτο. Ωστόσο, σε εκείνο το σημείο η Χάποελ αντέδρασε. Ο Δημήτρης Ιτούδης έριξε στο ματς τον Γιαμ Μάνταρ, ο Μίσιτς έκανε καλή δουλειά (7π., 5ασ.) και η απόσταση επέστρεψε σε μονοψήφιο (30-39 στο 17'). Μάλιστα, με τον Οτούρου να κάνει... θραύση (18π. με 9/11 δίποντα και κερδισμένο 3ο φάουλ του Λεν), η ομάδα από το Τελ Αβίβ ένιωσε ξανά «ζωντανή» (34-39 στο 18'). Παρ' όλα αυτά, το Α' μέρος «έκλεισε» με τη «βασίλισσα» στο... τιμόνι (36-46 στο 20' με τρίποντο του Φακούντο Καμπάτσο at the buzzer).
Μίσιτς και Οτούρου έκαναν... all in, οι Ισπανοί κρατούσαν το «πάνω χέρι»
Οι φιλοξενούμενοι έμοιαζαν να έχουν τον έλεγχο (40-52 στο 24'), αλλά ο Μίσιτς με την καλύτερή του εμφάνιση στη σειρά αρνούνταν να παραδοθεί και οι Ισραηλινοί συνέχισαν να έχουν «σφυγμό» (47-54 στο 26', 16π. και 6ασ. ο Σέρβος). Ταυτόχρονα, κατάθεση... ψυχής έκανε και ο Οτούρου (21π. σε 24'28'' από τα 27'26'') και ο Ιτούδης για πρώτη φορά πέρασε στο ματς τον Τζόναθαν Μότλεϊ, δίνοντας «ανάσες» στον βασικό σέντερ του (49-56 το σκορ με τη Ρεάλ να μην «καθαρίζει» το ματς λόγω των 15 λαθών της). Το πρόβλημα για τη Χάποελ, βέβαια, εντοπιζόταν στην αστοχία του Ελάιζα Μπράιαντ (1/8 δίποντα, 1/2 τρίποντα). Σε κάθε περίπτωση, οι παίκτες του Σκαριόλο εξακολουθούσαν να έχουν το «πάνω χέρι», αφού ο Μαλεντόν έκανε... θραύση (53-63 στο 30', 14π. ο Γάλλος γκαρντ).
Η ανώτερη Ρεάλ Μαδρίτης έκανε τη... δουλειά στη Βουλγαρία
Ένα γρήγορο 5-0 των Μαδριλένων στην 4η περίοδο επανέφερε την απόσταση στο +15 (53-68 στο 32') και ο Έλληνας τεχνικός κάλεσε άρον άρον time out (55-70) για να επαναφέρει τους Μίσιτς - Οτούρου και να παίξει τα... ρέστα του. Ο Αμερικανός σέντερ «χτύπησε» πάνω στον Λεν (4φ.) και βρήκε ένα μικρό 6-0 (61-70 στο 34', 25π. ο Οτούρου με ρεκόρ καριέρας και 10ασ. ο Μίσιτς), αναγκάζοντας τον Σκαριόλο να προχωρήσει σε αλλαγή πλάνου και προσώπων. Οι Ισπανοί σε εκείνο το διάστημα έχαναν διαδοχικά τρίποντα και η νέα συνεργασία Μίσιτς - Οτούρου διαμόρφωσε το 63-70 με 5' για το φινάλε. Ο Καμπάτσο έβαλε ένα πολύτιμο γκολ - φάουλ (63-73), ο Μπράιαντ μείωσε με ένα τρίποντο (66-73), αλλά ο Χεζόνια οδηγήθηκε στη γραμμή για 3/3β. στο 36' (66-76). Η άμμος στην κλεψύδρα άρχισε να αδειάζει για τη Χάποελ, ο Μπράιαντ σημάδεψε το σίδερο και λίγο αργότερα ο Μίσιτς αστόχησε σε λέι απ στο τρανζίσιον. Η Ρεάλ συνέχισε να πετάει διαδοχικές κατοχές στα «σκουπίδια», αλλά το ίδιο έκαναν και οι Ισραηλινοί, που είχαν μείνει από δυνάμεις. Ουσιαστικά, το δίποντο του Γκαρούμπα (68-79 στο 38') ήταν εκείνο που «σφράγισε» το διπλό των Ισπανών, αλλά και την πρόκρισή τους στο Final Four (78-87 τελικό).
