The home team managed to leave behind the FIBA ​​Europe Cup final loss to Bilbao and, led by Melvin who finished the game with 29 points, they took the first step towards the semifinals.

The game started somewhat nervously with both teams missing their first attempts, but soon, especially the home team, found a rhythm and took an eight-point lead (20-12) in the 7th minute. The visitors came close to the score and closed the first quarter at -4 (23-19).

With momentum from the end of the first, they started well in the second period. They led 27-28 and a little later by three (29-32), but Butsku's players responded and with a partial 19-9 they went to the locker room ahead by seven (48-41).

Ty Nichols returned from the locker room in terrible condition and with eight consecutive points of his own, Peristeri Betsson took the lead (48-49). The visitors managed to get to +5 a little later (50-55), but once again they were unable to maintain their difference. The Two-Headed again closed the period stronger and with a partial 14-5 entered the last quarter with a 64-60 lead.

The players of the Doubleheader did not repeat the same mistake as in the previous periods. They did not allow the guests to come back and slowly increased their difference, which became double digits (79-67) halfway through the quarter.

From there on, the hosts had no problem maintaining their difference and taking the first of the two steps they need to find themselves in the semifinals.

Ο ΠΑΟΚ επικράτησε 91-79 του Περιστερίου Betsson στην πρεμιέρα των playoffs της Stoiximan GBL και έκανε το 1-0 στη σειρά. Εξαιρετική εμφάνιση έκανε ο Μέλβιν για τους γηπεδούχους, ενώ συγκλονιστικός ήταν ο Νίκολς για τους φιλοξενούμενους.

Ο ΠΑΟΚ ήταν ο νικητής της πρεμιέρας των playoffs της Stoiximan GBL, αφού επικράτησε του Περιστερίου Betsson με 91-79 στο Παλατάκι για το 1-0 στη σειρά.

Οι γηπεδούχοι κατάφεραν να αφήσουν πίσω τους τον χαμένο τελικό του FIBA Europe Cup από την Μπιλμπάο και με κορυφαίο τον Μέλβιν που τελείωσε το παιχνίδι με 29 πόντους έκαναν το πρώτο βήμα για τα ημιτελικά.

Από την άλλη, συγκλονιστική ήταν η εμφάνιση του Τάι Νίκολς που πέτυχε 32 πόντους και κατά διαστήματα έμοιαζε να κρατάει μόνος του τους φιλοξενούμενους στο ματς.

Έτσι η σειρά μεταφέρεται στο Περιστέρι, όπου την Τετάρτη (6/5, 19:00) ο Δικέφαλος θα έχει το πρώτο match ball για να βρεθεί στα ημιτελικά, ενώ οι γηπεδούχοι θα παίξουν για να παραμείνουν στη διεκδίκηση.

Ο αγώνας

Το παιχνίδι ξεκίνησε κάπως νευρικά με τις δύο ομάδες να αστοχούν στις πρώτες τους προσπάθειες, όμως σύντομα, κυρίως οι γηπεδούχοι, βρήκαν ρυθμό και πήραν προβάδισμα οκτώ πόντων (20-12) στο 7ο λεπτό. Οι φιλοξενούμενοι πλησίασαν στο σκορ και έκλεισαν το πρώτο δεκάλεπτο στο -4 (23-19).

Με φόρα από το κλείσιμο της πρώτης, ξεκίνησαν καλά και στη δεύτερη περίοδο. Προηγήθηκαν με 27-28 και λίγο αργότερα με τρεις (29-32), όμως οι παίκτες του Μπούτσκου απάντησαν και με επιμέρους 19-9 πήγαν στα αποδυτήρια μπροστά με επτά (48-41).

Ο Τάι Νίκολς επέστρεψε σε τρομερή κατάσταση από τα αποδυτήρια και με οκτώ συνεχόμενους δικούς του πόντους το Περιστέρι Betsson πέρασε μπροστά (48-49). Οι φιλοξενούμενοι κατάφεραν να βρεθούν και στο +5 λίγο αργότερα (50-55), όμως για μία ακόμη φορά δεν μπόρεσαν να διατηρήσουν τη διαφορά τους. Ο Δικέφαλος έκλεισε και πάλι την περίοδο πιο δυνατά και με επιμέρους 14-5 μπήκε στο τελευταίο δεκάλεπτο με 64-60.

Οι παίκτες του Δικεφάλου δεν επανέλαβαν το ίδιο λάθος με τις προηγούμενες περιόδους. Δεν επέτρεψαν στους φιλοξενούμενους να επανέλθουν και σιγά σιγά αύξησαν τη διαφορά τους, η οποία έγινε διψήφια (79-67) στα μισά του δεκαλέπτου.

Από εκεί και μετά οι γηπεδούχοι δεν είχαν κάποιο πρόβλημα να διατηρήσουν τη διαφορά τους και να κάνουν το πρώτο από τα δύο βήματα που χρειάζονται για να βρεθούν στα ημιτελικά.
