Coco Gauff overcame Sorana Cirstea's hurdle in two sets and for the second year in a row will claim the title at the WTA 1000 in Rome.

Coco Gauff will have the opportunity to claim the title at the WTA 1000 in Rome for the second year in a row. The 22-year-old from the USA, defeating Sorana Cirstea 6-4, 6-3, secured the first ticket to the final on Saturday (16/5), wanting to conquer what she could not achieve last year against Jasmine Paolini.

At the same time, Gauff qualified for the 2nd final in 2026, as her defeat to Aryna Sabalenka at the Miami Open had preceded it.

For Gauff, this will be the 16th final of her career and she will be claiming her 12th title, the last one being about 11 months ago at Roland Garros.

Her opponent will be revealed late on Friday night (14/5), from the duel between Inga Swiatek and Elina Svitolina.

H Κόκο Γκοφ ξεπέρασε το εμπόδιο της Σοράνα Κιρστέα στα δύο σετ και για δεύτερη σερί χρονιά θα διεκδικήσει τον τίτλο στο WTA 1000 της Ρώμης.

Η Κόκο Γκοφ για δεύτερη διαδοχική χρονιά θα έχει την ευκαιρία να διεκδικήσει τον τίτλο στο WTA 1000 της Ρώμης. Η 22χρονη από τις ΗΠΑ νικώντας τη Σοράνα Κιρστέα με 6-4, 6-3 εξασφάλισε το πρώτο εισιτήριο για τον τελικό του Σαββάτου (16/5), θέλοντας να κατακτήσει ό,τι δεν κατάφερε πέρυσι με αντίπαλο την Τζασμίν Παολίνι.

Παράλληλα η Γκοφ προκρίθηκε στον 2ο τελικό μέσα στο 2026, καθώς είχε προηγηθεί η ήττα της από την Αρίνα Σαμπαλένκα στο Miami Open.

Για την Γκοφ αυτός θα είναι ο 16ος συνολικά τελικός της καριέρας της και θα διεκδικήσει τον 12ο τίτλο της, με τελευταίo αυτόν 11 περίπου μήνες πριν στο Roland Garros.

Η αντίπαλός της θα αναδειχθεί αργά το βράδυ της Παρασκευής (14/5), από τη μονομαχία ανάμεσα στην Ίγκα Σβιόντεκ και την Ελίνα Σβιτόλινα.
