Panathinaikos AKTOR was defeated 91-87 by Valencia in Game 3, in a match that they were losing by up to 19 points, and will have to wait until Friday (8/5, 21:15) to fight again for the qualification to the Final Four.

The case of qualifying to the Final Four of 2026 took an extension for Panathinaikos AKTOR, after Valencia passed with 91-87 from Telekom Center Athens and reduced the series to 2-1.

The greens found themselves losing by as much as 19 points (43-62, 22’30”), they reduced the gap to 3 points with 20.2″ before the end, they saw the guests give them a ball, but they were unable to equalize and send the game to overtime, after Nikos Rogavopoulos missed two consecutive three-pointers.

The MVP

Jan Montero had 0/4 three-pointers, but he closed the game with 16 points, 3 rebounds, 9 assists, 2 steals, 1 foul and 21 PIR.

The statistics that stood out

Valencia scored 13 of its 24 points in the first period in a state of surprise, while Panathinaikos had 5/12 shots and 6 fouls in this period. The first half ended with clover to have reached 11 errors, to shoot with 33% in the three-point field and to have received 19 points in the open court.

In the final of the match, the points in the surprise were 9-27, the points from opponent's errors 13-10 and the points from second chances 10-13.

The match

Grand, Nunn, Osman, Hayes-Davis and Lesor were the starting five of Panathinaikos, as in the previous matches of the series, but the score in 2′ was 3-9 and 8-14 in 5′, with Taylor already having 9 points. The quarter ended at 18-24, with the guests having found 13 points in the open court.

In 13′ the greens found themselves losing by a double-digit margin (25-35). With 5 points from Nunn and a buzzer-beater from Hayes-Davis, the score became 32-38 shortly after 15′. Martinez’s team ran a 5-0 series and escaped with 32-43. Lesor and Shorts reduced the lead to 39-46 in 18′, while Puerto left injured for the bench. The Greens closed the first half with 11 errors and at -13 (39-52, 20′), having allowed their opponents to run and play the game they like.

Panathinaikos did not start well in the second half either, seeing Valencia increase the difference to 19 points (43-62) in 22’30”. In the 25th minute, Nunn was charged with a 4th foul and gave way to Rogavopoulos. He, Hayes-Davis and Osman reduced the gap to 11 points (56-67) in the 26th minute, while Martinez and Ataman were ejected in the 27th minute. Rogavopoulos scored 5 combined points and the score became 66-75 in the 30th minute. The visitors ran 9-2 in 1’40” to pull away with 68-84. In the 35th minute, the score had become 76-91. Panathinaikos did not give up and came close to 83-90 at 36’30” with Rogavopoulos and Shorts having reached 16 and 15 points respectively. Shorts scored for 85-90 at 37′ and Badio committed an offensive foul on Lesor. Consecutive missed attempts by both teams followed, until Hayes-Davis earned a foul for three shots at 19.7″ before the end.

He made 2/3 (87-90), but Valencia made a mistake after the throw-in and gave the home team a ball with 17.1″ on the clock. Rogavopoulos missed two consecutive three-pointers and Badio wrote from the line the final 87-91.

Ο Παναθηναϊκός AKTOR ηττήθημε με 91-87 από τη Βαλένθια στο Game 3, σε ένα ματς που έχανε μέχρι και με 19 πόντους, και θα περιμένει μέχρι την Παρασκευή (8/5, 21;15) για να παλέψει ξανά για την πρόκριση στο Final Four.

Παράταση πήρε για τον Παναθηναϊκό AKTOR η υπόθεση πρόκριση στο Final Four του 2026, αφού η Βαλένθια πέρασε με 91-87 από το Telekom Center Athens και μείωσε σε 2-1 τη σειρά.

Οι πράσινοι βρέθηκαν να χάνουν μέχρι και με 19 πόντους (43-62, 22’30”), μείωσαν σε απόσταση 3 πόντων στα 20.2″ πριν το τέλος, είδαν τους φιλοξενούμενους να τους χαρίζουν μια μπάλα, αλλά δεν κατάφεραν να ισοφαρίσουν και να στείλουν το παιχνίδι στην παράταση, αφού ο Νίκος Ρογκαβόπουλος αστόχησε σε δύο διαδοχικά τρίποντα.

Η Βαλένθια έβαλε 13 από τους 24 πόντους στην πρώτη περίοδο σε κατάσταση αιφνιδιασμού, ενώ ο Παναθηναϊκός είχε 5/12 σουτ και 6 λάθη σε αυτό το διάστημα. Ο αγώνας

Γκραντ, Ναν, Όσμαν, Χέιζ-Ντέιβις και Λεσόρ ήταν η αρχική πεντάδα του Παναθηναϊκού, όπως και στα προηγούμενα ματς της σειράς, όμως το σκορ στο 2′ ήταν 3-9 και 8-14 στο 5′, με τον Τέιλορ να έχει ήδη 9 πόντους. Το δεκάλεπτο έκλεισε στο 18-24, με τους φιλοξενούμενους να έχουν βρει 13 πόντους στο ανοιχτό γήπεδο.

Στο 13′ οι πράσινοι βρέθηκαν να χάνουν με διψήφια διαφορά (25-35). Με 5 πόντους του Ναν κι ένα buzzer-beater του Χέιζ-Ντέιβις το σκορ έγινε 32-38 λίγο μετά το 15′. Η ομάδα του Μαρτίνεθ έτρεξε 5-0 σερί και ξέφυγε με 32-43. Λεσόρ και Σορτς μείωσαν σε 39-46 στο 18′, ενώ ο Πουέρτο αποχώρησε τραυματίας για τον πάγκο. Οι πράσινοι έκλεισαν το πρώτο μέρος με 11 λάθη και στο -13 (39-52, 20′), έχοντας επιτρέψει στους αντιπάλους τους να τρέξουν και να κάνουν το παιχνίδι που τους αρέσει.

Ο Παναθηναϊκός δεν μπήκε καλά ούτε στο β΄ μέρος, βλέποντας τη Βαλένθια να εκτοξεύει τη διαφορά στους 19 πόντους (43-62) στο 22’30”. Στο 25′ ο Ναν χρεώθηκε με 4ο φάουλ και άφησε τη θέση του στον Ρογκαβόπουλο. Εκείνος, ο Χέιζ-Ντέιβις και ο Όσμαν μείωσαν την απόσταση στους 11 πόντους (56-67) στο 26’10”, ενώ Μαρτίνεθ και Αταμάν αποβλήθηκαν στο 27′. Ο Ρογκαβόπουλος έβαλε 5 μαζεμένους πόντους και το σκορ έγινε 66-75 στο 30′.

Οι φιλοξενούμενοι έτρεξαν επιμέρους 9-2 σε 1’40” για να ξεμακρύνουν με 68-84. Στο 35′ το σκορ είχε μεταττραπεί σε 76-91. Ο Παναθηναϊκός δεν κατέθεσε τα όπλα και πλησίασε σε 83-90 στο 36’30” με τους Ρογκαβόπουλο και Σορτς να έχουν φτάσει στους 16 και 15 πόντους αντίστοιχα. Ο Σορτς σκόραρε για το 85-90 στο 37′ και ο Μπαντιό έκανε επιθετικό φάουλ στον Λεσόρ. Ακολούθησαν διαδοχικές άστοχες προσπάθειες και από τις δύο ομάδες, μέχρι που ο Χέιζ-Ντέιβις κέρδισε φάουλ για τρεις βολές στα 19.7″ πριν το τέλος.

Εκείνος έβαλε 2/3 (87-90), αλλά η Βαλένθια έκανε λάθος μετά την επαναφορά και χάρισε μια μπάλα στους γηπεδούχους με 17.1″ στο χρονόμετρο. Ο Ρογκαβόπουλος αστόχησε σε δύο διαδοχικά τρίποντα και ο Μπαντιό έγραψε από τη γραμμή το τελικό 87-91.
