Carlos Alcaraz announced that he will not participate in Roland Garros, with an announcement on his personal social media account.
The Spanish tennis player injured his right wrist and will therefore not be able to defend his crown.
The No.2 in the world rankings announced today (24/02) that he is withdrawing from the event. The 22-year-old tennis player from Murcia had suffered a setback two weeks earlier at the ATP 500 in Barcelona and his injury proved to be an insurmountable obstacle to his participation in the famous Parisian tournament.
It is recalled that Alcarath won Roland Garros both last year and the year before, while he holds a total of seven Grand Slams, the latest being this year's Australian Open.

Ο Ισπανός τενίστας τραυματίστηκε στον δεξί καρπό και έτσι δεν θα μπορέσει να υπερασπιστεί το στέμμα του.
Το Νο.2 της παγκόσμιας κατάταξης ανακοίνωσε σήμερα (24/02) πως αποσύρει τη συμμετοχή του από την διοργάνωση. Ο 22χρονος τενίστας από τη Μούρθια είχε χτυπήσει δύο βδομάδες πριν στο ATP 500 της Βαρκελώνης και ο τραυματισμός του αποδείχθηκε αξεπέραστο εμπόδιο, προκειμένου να συμμετάσχει στο φημισμένο παρισινό τουρνουά.
Υπενθυμίζεται, ότι ο Αλκαράθ κατέκτησε το Roland Garros τόσο πέρυσι, όσο και πρόπερσι, ενώ είναι κάτοχος συνολικά επτά Grand Slam, με τελευταίο το φετινό Australian Open.
