On how simple it is for Olympiacos to chase victory against an indifferent team: “Obviously it’s not simple. It takes effort and staying on schedule. I hope that doesn’t happen, because we’re a serious team, that now in the last few games we’re staying on schedule. We do the simple things, which are important in basketball. We do them with more consistency and we’ll look to do it with more consistency in the playoffs.”

On the status of the injured players: “Fournier is fine and Nilikina is fine. Jones is out. He hasn’t returned to training yet and Morris is only doing individual ones. He won’t be in either. Everyone else will be.”

I haven’t even seen the scenarios of who our opponent might be if we come out first or second. And I would say that I don’t really care. Of course, I read some analyses along the lines of “it’s better for Olympiacos to avoid this one, it’s better for them to avoid that one.” But I would say that because we’re first, it’s better for others to avoid us. I prefer not to choose an opponent and to be as good as possible.”

On the EuroLeague format and that it will remain the same after yesterday's (04/14) League meeting: "The coaches win little, because usually our own proposals for European basketball fall a little short. At the moment, marketing, which I understand because the owners put in a lot of money, has to somehow get it back. That way, more games bring in more revenue. Also, I read yesterday that 10 more teams are trying to join the EuroLeague. When they increase even more, something has to be done with the national championships. The way training has been, you don't know what to expect anymore.

Ο Γιώργος Μπαρτζώκας μίλησε για την τελευταία αναμέτρηση του Ολυμπιακού στην κανονική περίοδο της EuroLeague, με αντίπαλο την Αρμάνι Μιλάνο (16/4, 21:15).

Αναλυτικά όσα δήλωσε

Για την Αρμάνι Μιλάνο: “Είναι μία ομάδα που παίζει με μεγάλη ένταση στην άμυνα. Πιέζει πολύ στην άμυνα, κάνει deny στα hand off. Παίζει οργανωμένο μπάσκετ και πασάρει πολύ. Φυσικά έχει ταλέντο. Το ότι δεν θα διεκδικήσει θέση στα playoff, δεν σημαίνει ότι δεν έχει ταλέντο.

Εάν δει κανείς το ρόστερ της θα το καταλάβει. Είναι το τελευταίο μας παιχνίδι στην κανονική περίοδο και βρισκόμαστε στην πρώτη θέση. Οι παίκτες μας έχουν κάνει πολύ σκληρή προσπάθεια όλο τον χρόνο με πολλούς τραυματισμούς, ανακατατάξεις, παίκτες έμπαιναν και έβγαιναν.

Νομίζω ότι αξίζουμε να βρισκόμαστε σε αυτή τη θέση. Θα θέλαμε να ολοκληρώσουμε τη χρονιά πρώτοι και φυσικά θέλουμε να κερδίσουμε ως επιστέγασμα της όλης προσπάθειάς μας”.

Για το πόσο απλό είναι να κυνηγάει τη νίκη ο Ολυμπιακός κόντρα σε μία αδιάφορη ομάδα: “Προφανώς και δεν είναι απλό. Θέλει προσπάθεια και να μείνεις στο πλάνο. Αν περάσει στο μυαλό κάποιον ότι είναι διαδικαστικό το παιχνίδι, τότε θα μπούμε σε πρόβλημα και θα φανεί. Ελπίζω να μην γίνει αυτό, γιατί είμαστε μία σοβαρή ομάδα, που τώρα στα τελευταία ματς μένουμε στο πλάνο. Κάνουμε τα απλά πράγματα, που στο μπάσκετ είναι σημαντικά. Τα κάνουμε με μεγαλύτερη συνέπεια και θα κοιτάξουμε να το κάνουμε με μεγαλύτερη συνέπεια στα playoffs”.

Για την κατάσταση των τραυματιών: “Ο Φουρνιέρ είναι καλά και ο Νιλικίνα είναι καλά. Ο Τζόουνς είναι έξω. Δεν έχει επανέλθει ακόμα στις προπονήσεις και ο Μόρις κάνει μόνο ατομικές. Δεν θα είναι και εκείνος εντός. Όλοι οι άλλοι θα είναι”.

Τι είναι αυτό που μετά την αλλαγή του φορμάτ έχει οδηγήσει τον Ολυμπιακό στο να είναι η μόνη ομάδα που έχει καταφέρει να κατακτήσει την πρώτη θέση στη regular season τρεις φορές: “Εντάξει, δεν θα πω η φανταστική μας δουλειά. Θα πω ότι γενικά ο οργανισμός έχει μεγάλη γνώση του πώς θα λειτουργήσει. Οι πρόεδροι παρέχουν σταθερότητα στην ομάδα και ακόμα το γεγονός ότι ο προπονητής παραμένει ίδιος είναι δείγμα της σταθερότητας. Έχουμε ένα πλάνο και προσπαθούμε να μην έχουνε αυξομειώσεις σχετικά με το τι χάνουμε και τι κερδίζουμε μέσα στη χρονιά. Το πιο σημαντικό σε όλα είναι ότι ο βασικός μας άξονας τη φετινή χρονιά στη περιφέρεια, Κίναν Έβανς, από όταν τραυματίστηκε, θα ήθελα να πω ευχαριστώ στους προέδρους γιατί δώσανε μεγάλη βοήθεια με τις μεταγραφές μέσα στη χρονιά. Και στη θέση 5. Ήταν σημαντικό να μην μείνουμε όπως ξεκινήσαμε τη χρονιά, γιατί πλέον η EuroLeague θέλει 16-17 παίκτες”.

 Για τον Ντόρσεϊ, τον Βεζένκοβ και τον Μιλουτίνοβ, που διεκδικούν σημαντικά ατομικά βραβεία μετά τη λήξη της regular season: “Το ταβάνι μας είναι πραγματικά υψηλό και έχει να κάνει με το ταλέντο της ομάδας. Υπήρξαν παιχνίδια που δεν παίζει ένας παίκτης σαν τον Φουρνιέ και μπορούμε να βάλουμε 100 πόντους. Σημαντικοί παίκτες είναι εκτός και παίρνουμε σημαντικές νίκες. Σκεφτείτε ότι υπάρχει και ο Φουρνιέ που είναι στο ίδιο επίπεδο των όσων είπατε, αλλά και άλλοι παίκτες γύρω γύρω που σε άλλες ομάδες θα είχαν σημαντικότερο ρόλο από ό,τι στον Ολυμπιακό. Παρόλα αυτά μένουν εδώ και βοηθούν την ομάδα ακόμα και με το να καταπιέσουν λίγο το ταλέντο τους”.

Για την “κατάρα” της πρώτης θέσης: “Έχω μεγάλη αβεβαιότητα για αυτά που συμβαίνουν στην ομάδα μας και γύρω και μεγάλη ανασφάλεια. Δεν είμαι σούπερ ασφαλής με το ότι δουλεύουμε καλά και θα πάμε καλά. Οπότε δεν έχω τέτοιου είδους σκέψεις. Έχω επικεντρωθεί στο αυριανό ματς. Ούτε καν έχω δει τα σενάρια του ποιος μπορεί να είναι ο αντίπαλός μας εάν βγούμε πρώτοι ή δεύτεροι. Και θα έλεγα ότι δεν με ενδιαφέρει κιόλας. Διαβάζω βέβαια κάποιες αναλύσεις του στιλ “καλύτερα να αποφύγει ο Ολυμπιακός αυτός, καλύτερα να αποφύγει τον άλλον”. Θα έλεγα όμως ότι επειδή είμαστε πρώτοι, καλύτερα να αποφύγουν οι άλλοι εμάς. Προτιμάω να μην διαλέγουμε αντίπαλο και να είμαστε όσοι καλύτεροι γίνεται”.

Για το φορμάτ της EuroLeague και ότι θα παραμείνει ίδιο μετά τη χθεσινή (14/04) συνεδρίαση της Λίγκας: “Οι προπονητές ελάχιστα κερδίζουν, γιατί συνήθως οι δικές μας προτάσεις για το ευρωπαϊκό μπάσκετ πέφτουν λίγο στο κενό. Αυτή τη στιγμή το μάρκετινγκ, το οποίο το καταλαβαίνω γιατί οι ιδιοκτήτες βάζουν πολλά χρήματα, πρέπει με κάποιον τρόπο να τα παίρνουν πίσω. Έτσι, τα περισσότερα παιχνίδια φέρνουν περισσότερα έσοδα. Επίσης, διάβασε χθες ότι 10 ακόμα ομάδες προσπαθούν να μπουν στη EuroLeague.  Όταν αυξηθούν και άλλο, κάτι πρέπει να γίνει με τα εθνικά πρωταθλήματα. Έτσι όπως έχει γίνει η προπόνηση, πλέον δεν ξέρει τι να περιμένεις.
