Ataman: “I have become a sponsor of the EuroLeague with so many fines”
In an interview, Ergin Ataman expressed his complaint to the EuroLeague regarding the fines he receives.
Ergin Ataman gave an interview to “Trt Spor” and spoke about the EuroLeague and the fines it imposes on him at regular intervals for his behavior.
Specifically, the Turkish coach mentioned that in the recent home match of Panathinaikos against Paris, he was asked to pay 10,000 euros and then emphasized that “I have become a sponsor of the EuroLeague with so many fines”.
He also added that he hopes that with the participation of NBA Europe, it will become a much more serious organization.
In detail what Ergin Ataman said:
“I was fined 10,000 euros because I spoke against the referees. I am already one of the sponsors of the EuroLeague. In Israel, 10,000 people were cursing me, but Maccabi received a lighter sentence. This means that Ergin Ataman has more influence. That is probably how the EuroLeague sees it.
“The decisions of the EuroLeague Disciplinary Board are, of course, based on a legal framework. However, the main problem is that the EuroLeague does not appoint an authorized person to oversee the organization of the games. The only ones responsible are the referees. The referees focus solely on ensuring that the game is played smoothly. This can lead to unpleasant situations. In an organization with such a significant investment, a EuroLeague official should take the initiative to prevent these things. For example, issues like banners or offensive language... They do not prevent these things. Instead, they simply impose penalties based solely on their own disciplinary regulations. Consequently, those who are negatively affected are seriously protesting.
I hope that with the participation of NBA Europe, the EuroLeague will become a much more serious organization. For example, in football today, there is a court commissioner at the Champions League matches.
There is also a court observer at the FIBA matches. They even come before the matches of our national teams to supervise. They take it so seriously. The EuroLeague, on the other hand, focuses only on the game itself. If NBA Europe and the EuroLeague merge, that would also be a positive development. At the moment, European basketball has gained very high viewership. There is serious competition here.
Sports are very closely followed in Turkey. Of course, when our clubs and coaches are disadvantaged in this way, there is a serious reaction.”

Σε συνέντευξή του ο Έργκιν Άταμαν εξέφρασε το παράπονό του στην EuroLeague, όσον αφορά τα πρόστιμα που δέχεται.
Ο Έργκιν Άταμαν πραγματοποίησε συνέντευξη στο «Trt Spor» και μίλησε για την EuroLeague και τα πρόστιμα που το επιβάλει ανά τακτά χρονικά διαστήματα για τη συμπεριφορά του.
Συγκεκριμένα ο Τούρκος τεχνικός ανέφερε πως στο πρόσφατο εντός έδρας ματς του Παναθηναϊκού κόντρα στην Παρί, κλήθηκε να πληρώσει 10.000 ευρώ και στη συνέχεια τόνισε πως «Έχω γίνει χορηγός της EuroLeague με τόσα πρόστιμα».
Επιπλέον πρόσθεσε πως ελπίζει με τη συμμετοχή του NBA Europe,να γίνει ένας πολύ πιο σοβαρός οργανισμός.
Αναλυτικά όσα είπε ο Έργκιν Άταμαν:
«Μου επιβλήθηκε πρόστιμο 10.000 ευρώ επειδή μίλησα εναντίον των διαιτητών. Είμαι ήδη ένας από τους χορηγούς της EuroLeague. Στο Ισραήλ, 10.000 άνθρωποι με έβριζαν, αλλά η Μακάμπι έλαβε ελαφρύτερη ποινή. Αυτό σημαίνει ότι η επιρροή του Εργκίν Αταμάν είναι μεγαλύτερη. Μάλλον έτσι το βλέπει η EuroLeague.
«Οι αποφάσεις του Πειθαρχικού Συμβουλίου της EuroLeague βασίζονται, φυσικά, σε ένα νομικό πλαίσιο. Ωστόσο, το κύριο πρόβλημα είναι ότι η EuroLeague δεν διορίζει εξουσιοδοτημένο άτομο για να επιβλέπει την οργάνωση των αγώνων. Οι μόνοι υπεύθυνοι είναι οι διαιτητές. Για παράδειγμα, ζητήματα όπως πανό ή προσβλητική γλώσσα... Δεν τα αποτρέπουν αυτά τα πράγματα. Αντίθετα, απλώς επιβάλλουν ποινές που βασίζονται αποκλειστικά στους δικούς τους πειθαρχικούς κανονισμούς. Κατά συνέπεια, όσοι επηρεάζονται αρνητικά διαμαρτύρονται σοβαρά.
Ελπίζω ότι με τη συμμετοχή του NBA Europe, η EuroLeague, θα γίνει ένας πολύ πιο σοβαρός οργανισμός. Για παράδειγμα, στο ποδόσφαιρο σήμερα, υπάρχει ένας επίτροπος γηπέδου στους αγώνες του Champions League.
Υπάρχει επίσης ένας παρατηρητής γηπέδου στους αγώνες της FIBA. Έρχονται ακόμη και πριν από τους αγώνες των εθνικών μας ομάδων για να επιβλέπουν. Το παίρνουν τόσο σοβαρά. Η EuroLeague, από την άλλη πλευρά, επικεντρώνεται μόνο στο ίδιο το παιχνίδι. Εάν το NBA Europe και η EuroLeague συγχωνευθούν, αυτό θα ήταν επίσης μια θετική εξέλιξη. Αυτή τη στιγμή, το ευρωπαϊκό μπάσκετ έχει αποκτήσει πολύ υψηλή τηλεθέαση. Υπάρχει σοβαρός ανταγωνισμός εδώ.
Τα αθλήματα παρακολουθούνται πολύ στενά στην Τουρκία. Φυσικά, όταν οι σύλλογοι και οι προπονητές μας βρίσκονται σε μειονεκτική θέση με αυτόν τον τρόπο, υπάρχει σοβαρή αντίδραση».
