Benitez: "We can achieve great things with this group, that's what was missing against Kifissia"

Rafa Benitez appeared satisfied with the image of his team in the 3-0 victory over Kifissia for the 19th round of the Stoiximan Superleague, without however failing to mention the things that he considered that his team did not do well.

In the first half, the problematic image was explained as being due to the pressure of Kifissia and the inability of the "greens" to put players between the lines, while in general he wants the "clover" to have greater cohesion so as not to be threatened by counterattacks, as happened tonight.

He clarified that the decisions regarding the three players who will be included in the European list will be made at the last minute, since new demands are constantly emerging after each match.

Finally, he stated that he was satisfied with the debut of Kontouris and Antino, while emphasizing that the group being formed is capable of achieving great things.

On the image of the team, the young players who played the pattern of speed and intensity that distinguished them:

"Obviously we are trying to give opportunities to all the players. We want to have intensity and that without rotation will not be possible. We are trying to press high. On Antino and Kontouris who made their debuts:

"They both tried very hard. Kontouris had balance, Antino had 1vs1 and my ability with the ball at my feet. We knew that Kifissia is good at counterattacking and pressing. At the beginning we couldn’t put players between the lines to create gaps because of the pressure they put on us. In the second half we did better and with the help of the sending off. We need to have more cohesion so as not to be hit by counterattacks.”

On the derbies with PAOK and Olympiacos:

“I hope that the last two results will help. We saw some players coming, who have the desire. Our opponents will be strong. But we have faith that we can press, run, fight. They want to be here and achieve great things with the team. With this group we believe that we can do a lot of things.”

On the European list and the changes:

“We will wait until the last minute to be sure of our decisions. Our list is small, it is problematic in how it has been formed with the changes that have been made. As the matches go by, other issues may arise that may differentiate our choices.”

Regarding the pressing applied by Panathinaikos:

“It is still too early to say whether we will be a team that will press high or will divide the moments when it will do so. The most important thing is that the players understand exactly what we are asking for. This plan may change depending on the opponent. If it is an opponent that will play immediately, perhaps we should not press them high and constantly, if it is someone who does a build-up we should press more and higher. Ο Ράφα Μπενίτεθ εμφανίστηκε ικανοποιημένος με την εικόνα της ομάδας του στη νίκη με 3-0 επί της Κηφισιάς για την 19η αγωνιστική της Stoiximan Superleague, χωρίς ώστόσο παραλείψει να αναφερθεί στα πράγματα που θεώρησε πως δεν έκανε καλά η ομάδα του.

Στο πρώτο ημίχρονο η προβληματική εικόνα εξήγησε πως οφειλόταν στην πίεση της Κηφισιάς και στην αδυναμία των «πρασίνων» να βάλουν παίκτες ανάμεσα στις γραμμές ενώ γενικά θέλει το «τριφύλλι» να έχει μεγαλύτερη συνοχή για να μην δέχεται απειλές από αντεπιθέσεις, όπως συνέβη απόψε.

Ξεκαθάρισε πως οι αποφάσεις σχετικά με τους τρεις παίκτες που θα μπουν στην ευρωπαική λίστα θα παρθούν τελευταία στιγμή, αφού προκύπτουν συνεχώς νέα ζητούμενα μετά από κάθε ματς.

Τέλος, δήλωσε ικανοποιημένος από το ντεμπούτ των Κοντούρη και Αντίνο ενώ τόνισε πως το γκρουπ που σχηματίζεται είναι ικανό να πετύχε μεγάλα πράγματα.

Για την εικόνα της ομάδας, τους νέους παίκτες που έπαιξαν το μοτίβο ταχύτητας και έντασης που τους διέκρινε:

«Προφανώς προσπαθούμε να δώσουμε ευκαιρίες σε όλους τους παίκτες. Θέλουμε να έχουμε ένταση κι αυτό χωρίς ροτέισον δεν θα είνα δυνατό. Προσπαθούμε να πιέσουμε ψηλά. Θέλαμε να χρησιμοποιήσουμε την ένταση, την ενέργεια και την ποιότητα αυτών των νέων παικτών. Το ματς ήταν ανοιχτό στο μεγαλύτερο διάστημα, όμως στο τέλος το φέραμε προς το μέρος μας».

Για τους Αντίνο και Κοντούρη που έκαναν ντεμπούτο:

«Και οι δύο προσπάθησαν πολύ. Ο Κοντούρης είχε ισορροπία, ο Αντίνο είχε το 1vs1 και την ικανότητά μου με την μπάλα στα πόδια. Ξέραμε πως η Κηφισιά είναι καλή στην αντεπίθεση και στο πρέσινγκ. Στην αρχή δεν μπορέσαμε να βάλουμε παίκτες ανάμεσα τις γραμμές για να δημιουργήσουμε ρήγματα λόγω του πρέσινγκ που μας έκαναν. Στο δεύτερο μέρος τα πήγαμε καλύτερα και με την βοήθεια της αποβολής. Πρέπει να έχουμε περισσότερη συνοχή για να μην τρώμε αντεπιθέσεις».

Για τα ντέρμπι με ΠΑΟΚ και Ολυμπιακό:

«Ελπίζω πως τα δύο τελευταία αποτελέσματα θα βοηθήσουν. Είδαμε κάποιους παίκτες που έρχονται, που έχουν την επιθυμία. Οι αντίπαλοί μας θα είναι δυνατοί. Έχουμε όμως την πίστη πως μπορούμε να πιέσουμε, να τρέξουμε, να παλέψουμε. Θέλουν να βρίσκονται εδώ και να πετύχουν μεγάλα πράγματα με την ομάδα. Με αυτό το γκρουπ θεωρούμε πως μπορούμε να κάνουμε πολλά πράγματα».

Για την ευρωπαϊκή λίστα και τις αλλαγές:

«Θα περιμένουμε μέχρι τελευταία στιγμή για να είμαστε σίγουροι για τις αποφάσεις μας. Η λίστα μας είναι μικρή, είναι προβληματική στο πως έχει διαμορφωθεί με τις αλλαγές που έχουν γίνει. Όσον περνούν τα ματς μπορεί να παρουσιαστούν κι άλλα ζητήματα που μπορεί να διαφοροποιήσουν τις επιλογές μας».

Για τον πρέσινγκ που εφαρμόζει ο Παναθηναϊκός:

«Είναι νωρίς ακόμη να πούμε αν θα είμαστε μια ομάδα που θα πιέζει ψηλά ή θα διαλέψει τις στιγμές που θα το κάνει. Το πιο σημαντικό είναι οι ποδοσφαιριστές να κατανοούν τι ακριβώς ζητάμε. Αυτό το πλάνο μπορεί να αλλάζει ανάλογα τον αντίπαλο. Αν είναι ένας αντίπαλος που θα παίξει άμεσα, ίσως δεν πρέπει να τον πιέσουμε ψηλά και συνέχεια, αν είναι κάποιος που κάνει build-up θα πρέπει να πιέσουμε περισσότερο και πιο ψηλά. Έπειτα παίζουν ρόλο και τα μαζεμένα και σε μικρό χρονικό διάστημα ματς που έχουμε να δώσουμε, που επηρεάζουν τις εντάσεις μας. Είναι ένας συνδυασμός αυτών των δύο».
