Panathinaikos – Olympiacos 82-87: Legendary double at T-Center (video)
A great performance by Olympiacos at Panathinaikos' home and a tenth consecutive victory against the (87-82) greens. Dorsey and Vezenkov dominated, Milutinov worked wonders, Kendrick Nunn fought alone against everyone.
It had been a while since their last meeting, so the Panathinaikos derby with Olympiacos, on Friday night (2/1) for the 19th round of the EuroLeague, came to fill a huge need for elite-level basketball.
The eternals gave a SHOCKING battle at Telekom Center Athens, with the Piraeus team taking a huge victory (87-82), their 10th consecutive against the greens in the competition. On the field where they have not been defeated since 2019.
Olympiacos climbed to 11-7 (6-3 home and 5-4 away), with Tyler Dorsey (21 points and the winning basket) and Sasha Vezenkov (24 points, 9 rebounds) doing things and miracles, with Nikola Milutinov showing why he deserves to be considered the top center in Europe this season.
Panathinaikos fell to 12-7 (6-3 home and 6-4 away), who had Kendrick Nunn ready for battle, the amazing Kendrick Nunn (32 points from 17 shots), but from there on, getting some things from flashes of Jeddi Osman and Nikos Rogavopoulos.
The MVP
What games did Tyler Dorsey (21 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists) who made the big basket for 82-86 and Sasha Vezenkov (24 points from 15 shots, 9 rebounds in 34 minutes) play? What game did Nikola Milutinov (10 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists in 26 minutes) play? The first two stood out, but without the Serb, Olympiacos would not have won.
The statistics that stood out
0-6 points from the opponent's mistakes, 2-8 points from second chances in the first quarter (13-28). Olympiacos entered with 4/4 three-pointers and continued with 2/13 until halftime, Nan scored 14 points in the second quarter and 32 in total. In the forty minutes, Osman had 0/6 three-pointers, the points from the opponent's mistakes were twice as many for Piraeus (8-17), as were the points from offensive rebounds (8-15). The guests took the match with Fournier scoring two points from shots.
The match
With Shorts, Nan, Osman, Mitoglou, Farid, Panathinaikos entered the match, with Walkap, Dorsey, Fournier, Vezenkov, Milutinov, Olympiacos started, which led by ten (2-12) thanks to the targeting of Shorts. Ataman put Grant - Kalaitzakis, the situation did not change, Vezenkov scored a three-pointer from nine and wrote 5-20 in the fifth minute. The green substitutions kept the red-whites' outburst, but at the end of the period (13-28) they had not gnawed away the difference from their crazy start.
Panathinaikos reacted better at the beginning of the second, reducing it to nine (19-28), before Nan caught fire and with two three-pointers reduced it to six (25-31) in the 14th minute. Bartzokas insisted on a formation that did not work well, in order to “buy” time for his starters, but Nan reached 12 points for 29-34 and the derby became much more interesting until the 43-43 halftime in which Rogavopoulos was the mechanical God for the home team (10 points, 2/3 two-pointers, 2/2 three-pointers).
Nan opened the second half with a three-pointer for Panathinaikos’ first lead, but the tempo had dropped. The two teams were much more cautious, with Vezenkov – Dorsey writing 53-57 in the 28th minute, Nunn continuing to keep the home team standing and both coaches expecting something more than second unit guys. The 61-61 in the 30th minute showed what was to come.
Vezenkov with a three-pointer and Hall with a goal-foul wrote 61-67 at the beginning of the fourth, the difference went to seven (63-70) with a shot by Fournier, but Olympiacos again did not hold this lead. Bartzokas supported Morris and he helped, but every time Panathinaikos needed it, Nunn was there.
Dorsey was there too, with a mid-range shot to make it 82-86 on a boiling court, with Panathinaikos wasting opportunities (Farid's mistake, Osman's missed three-pointer) and Walkap making 1/2 shots for +5 (82-88) with 15.7" before the finale to definitively decide the derby.

Μεγάλη εμφάνιση από τον Ολυμπιακό στο σπίτι του Παναθηναϊκού και δέκατη σερί νίκη απέναντί στους (87-82) πράσινους. Ντόρσεϊ και Βεζένκοβ κυριάρχησαν, ο Μιλουτίνοβ έκανε θαύματα, ο Κέντρικ Ναν πάλευε μόνος εναντίον όλων.
Είχε περάσει καιρός από το τελευταίο τους συναπάντημα, οπότε το ντέρμπι του Παναθηναϊκού με τον Ολυμπιακό, το βράδυ της Παρασκευής (2/1) για την 19η αγωνιστική της EuroLeague, ήρθε για να καλύψει μια τεράστια ανάγκη για μπάσκετ ελίτ επιπέδου.
Οι αιώνιοι έδωσαν ΣΥΓΚΛΟΝΙΣΤΙΚΗ μάχη στο Telekom Center Athens, με τους Πειραιώτες να παίρνουν τεράστια νίκη (87-82), τη 10η συνεχόμενή τους απέναντι στους πράσινους στη διοργάνωση. Στο γήπεδο στο οποίο δεν έχουν ηττηθεί από το 2019.
Στο 11-7 ανέβηκε ο Ολυμπιακός (6-3 εντός και 5-4 εκτός έδρας), με τον Τάιλερ Ντόρσεϊ (21 πόντοι και το καλάθι της νίκης) και τον Σάσα Βεζένκοβ (24 πόντοι, 9 ριμπάουντ) να κάνουν πράγματα και θαύματα, με τον Νίκολα Μιλουτίνοβ να δείχνει γιατί αξίζει να θεωρείται ο κορυφαίος σέντερ της Ευρώπης αυτή την περίοδο.
Στο 12-7 έπεσε ο Παναθηναϊκός (6-3 εντός και 6-4 εκτός έδρας), που είχε έτοιμο για μάχη τον Κέντρικ Ναν, τον καταπληκτικό Κέντρικ Ναν (32 πόντοι από 17 σουτ), αλλά από εκεί και πέρα να παίρνει κάποια πράγματα από εκλάμψεις του Τζέντι Όσμαν και του Νίκου Ρογκαβόπουλου.

Τι ματς έκαναν ο Τάιλερ Ντόρσεϊ (21 πόντοι, 4 ριμπάουντ, 3 ασίστ) που έβαλε το μεγάλο καλάθι για το 82-86 και ο Σάσα Βεζένκοβ (24 πόντοι από 15 σουτ, 9 ριμπάουντ σε 34 λεπτά). Τι ματς έκανε κι ο Νίκολα Μιλουτίνοβ (10 πόντοι, 9 ριμπάουντ, 3 ασίστ σε 26 λεπτά). Οι δύο πρώτοι ξεχώρισαν, χωρίς τον Σέρβο όμως, ο Ολυμπιακός δεν θα κέρδιζε.
Τα στατιστικά που ξεχώρισαν
0-6 οι πόντοι από τα λάθη του αντιπάλου, 2-8 οι πόντοι από δεύτερες ευκαιρίες στο πρώτο δεκάλεπτο (13-28). Ο Ολυμπιακός μπήκε με 4/4 τρίποντα και συνέχισε με 2/13 έως το ημίχρονο, ο Ναν έβαλε 14 πόντους στο δεύτερο δεκάλεπτο και 32 συνολικά. Στο σαραντάλεπτο ο Όσμαν είχε 0/6 τρίποντα, οι πόντοι από τα λάθη του αντιπάλου ήταν διπλάσιοι για τους Πειραιώτες (8-17), το ίδιο και οι πόντοι από τα επιθετικά ριμπάουντ (8-15). Οι φιλοξενούμενοι πήραν το ματς με τον Φουρνιέ να βάζει δύο πόντους από βολές.
Ο αγώνας
Με Σορτς, Ναν, Όσμαν, Μήτογλου, Φαρίντ μπήκε στο ματς ο Παναθηναϊκός, με Γουόκαπ, Ντόρσεϊ, Φουρνιέ, Βεζένκοβ, Μιλουτίνοβ ξεκίνησε ο Ολυμπιακός, ο οποίος προηγήθηκε με δέκα (2-12) χάρη στη στόχευση στον Σορτς. Ο Αταμάν έβαλε Γκραντ – Καλαϊτζάκη, η κατάσταση δεν άλλαξε, ο Βεζένκοβ σκόραρε τρίποντο από τα εννέα και έγραψε το 5-20 στο πέμπτο λεπτό. Οι αλλαγές των πράσινων κράτησαν το ξέσπασμα των ερυθρόλευκων, στο τέλος της περιόδου όμως (13-28) δεν είχαν ροκανίσει τη διαφορά από το τρελό ξεκίνημά τους.
Ο Παναθηναϊκός αντέδρασε καλύτερα στις αρχές της δεύτερης, μείωσε στους εννέα (19-28), πριν ο Ναν πάρει φωτιά και με δύο τρίποντα μειώσει και στους έξι (25-31) στο 14′. Ο Μπαρτζώκας επέμεινε σε σχήμα που δεν λειτουργούσε καλά, για να “κερδίσει” χρόνο για τους βασικούς του, όμως ο Ναν έφτασε τους 12 πόντους για το 29-34 και το ντέρμπι έγινε πολύ πιο ενδιαφέρον μέχρι το 43-43 του ημιχρόνου στο οποίο ο Ρογκαβόπουλος ήταν ο από μηχανής Θεός για τους γηπεδούχους (10 πόντοι, 2/3 δίποντα, 2/2 τρίποντα).
Ο Ναν άνοιξε με τρίποντο το β’ μέρος για το πρώτο προβάδισμα του Παναθηναϊκού, όμως το τέμπο είχε πέσει. Οι δύο ομάδες ήταν πολύ πιο προσεκτικές, με Βεζένκοβ – Ντόρσεϊ να γράφουν το 53-57 στο 28′, τον Ναν να συνεχίζει να κρατάει τους γηπεδούχους όρθιους και τους δύο προπονητές να περιμένουν κάτι περισσότερο από παιδιά των second units. Το 61-61 στο 30′, έδειχνε τι θα ακολουθούσε.
Βεζένκοβ με τρίποντο και Χολ με γκολ-φάουλ έγραψαν το 61-67 στις αρχές της τέταρτης, η διαφορά πήγε και στους επτά (63-70) με βολή του Φουρνιέ, όμως ο Ολυμπιακός και πάλι δεν κράτησε αυτό το προβάδισμα. Ο Μπαρτζώκας στήριξε τον Μόρις και εκείνος βοήθησε, κάθε φορά όμως που ο Παναθηναϊκός είχε ανάγκη, ο Ναν ήταν εκεί.
Εκεί ήταν κι ο Ντόρσεϊ που με σουτάκι από μέση απόσταση έγραψε το 82-86 σε γήπεδο που έβραζε, με τον Παναθηναϊκό να σπαταλάει ευκαιρίες (λάθος Φαρίντ, άστοχο τρίποντο του Όσμαν) και τον Γουόκαπ να βάζει 1/2 βολές για το +5 (82-88) στα 15.7″ πριν από το φινάλε για να κρίνει οριστικά το ντέρμπι.
