Η Ένωση “σπατάλησε” ένα ημίχρονο, όμως όταν επέστρεψε από την ανάπαυλα, έπαιξε το μπάσκετ της και δεν άφησε κανένα περιθώριο στους φιλοξενούμενους.

Έτσι η ομάδα του Ντράγκαν Σάκοτα κρατάει στα χέρια της την υπόθεση “πρώτη θέση” του ομίλου.

Ο αγώνας

Η ΑΕΚ ξεκίνησε δυνατά και με πίεση στην άμυνα δυσκόλεψε τους φιλοξενούμενους κλέβοντας 3 φορές τη μπάλα από τα χέρια τους στα πρώτα λεπτά. Οι παίκτες του Σάκοτα ήταν εμφανές πως όταν ανέβαζαν την έντασή και τη συγκέντρωσή τους στην άμυνα, δημιουργούσαν πολλά προβλήματα στους Λετονούς, οι οποίοι τελείωσαν το πρώτο ημίχρονο με 12 λάθη για 7 ασίστ.

Όμως οι κιτρινόμαυροι, παρ’ όλη την υπεροχή τους στα πρώτα 20 λεπτά, επέτρεψαν αρκετά σουτ υπό καλές προϋποθέσεις με αποτέλεσμα η Ρίγα να μείνει κοντά στο σκορ και μάλιστα να στείλει το παιχνίδι ισόπαλο στα αποδυτήρια (41-41).

Ότι και να είπε στους παίκτες του ο Σάκοτα στο ημίχρονο ήταν καταλυτικό, καθώς οι γηπεδούχοι βγήκαν με πολύ διαφορετική ένταση και νοοτροπία στο δεύτερο μέρος. Με αμυντική προσήλωση και καθαρό μυαλό στην επίθεση άνοιξαν αμέσως διαφορά 13 πόντων (56-43) στα μισά του τρίτου δεκαλέπτου.

Το επιμέρους σκορ στο τέλος της τρίτης περιόδου ήταν 24-7 και η Ένωση φάνηκε να καθαρίζει την αναμέτρηση μπαίνοντας με 65-48 στο τελευταίο δεκάλεπτο.

Το τελευταίο δεκάλεπτο ήταν διαδικαστικό, αφού οι φιλοξενούμενοι έμειναν από λύσεις, αλλά και από δυνάμεις και δεν μπόρεσαν να αποτρέψουν τη διαφορά από το να φτάσει και να περάσει τους 30 πόντους.
