Jasmine Paolini defeated Inga Swiatek for the first time in her career with an impressive 6-1, 6-2 and advanced to the semifinals at the WTA 1000 in Wuhan.
Jasmine Paolini had lost six matches against Inga Swiatek since 2018, but this time it was her turn, the 29-year-old Italian achieved an impressive result, 6-1, 6-2 and qualified for the semifinals at the WTA 1000 in Wuhan, China.
Paolini won 16 of the first 19 points in the match, took a 4-0 lead and with another break won the first set 6-1. The reaction from Swiatek never came, the Polish player held her serve only once and Paolini won the set and the qualification in 65 minutes with 6-2.

Sabalenka comfortably defeats Rybakina
At the top of the table, Aryna Sabalenka continues her undaunted attempt to win her 4th consecutive title in Wuhan.
The Belarusian had little trouble against Elena Rybakina, prevailing with 6-3, 6-3, reaching 20 consecutive victories in the tournament.
With five games won in a row, Sabalenka took a 6-3, 2-0 lead and, having absolute control of the match, achieved her 8th victory in the 13 total games she has played against Rybakina.
Jessica Pegula will be her opponent in the semifinals. The American, although she lost the 1st set to Katerina Siniakova, qualified against the Czech, with 2-6, 6-0, 6-3.
Pegula "sealed" a place in the WTA Finals
Regarding the attempt to qualify for the WTA Finals in Riyadh (November 1-8), today's results in Wuhan have largely clarified the landscape for the eight that will be in the capital of Saudi Arabia.
Pegula secured the 6th ticket, while Jasmine Paolini (8th in the special ranking) and Mira Andreeva (7th place) are now very close to qualifying. On the other hand, Elena Rybakina lost ground. H Tζασμίν Παολίνι από το 2018 μέχρι σήμερα μετρούσε έξι ήττες με αντίπαλο την Ίγκα Σβιόντεκ, όμως αυτή τη φορά ήταν η σειρά της, η 29χρονη Ιταλίδα έφθασε σε ένα εντυπωσιακό αποτέλεσα, 6-1, 6-2 και πρόκριση στα ημιτελικά στο WTA 1000 στη Γουχάν της Κίνας.
Η Παολίνι κερδίζοντας τους 16 από τους 19 πρώτους πόντους στον αγώνα, προηγήθηκε με 4-0 και με νέο break κατέκτησε με 6-1 το 1ο σετ. Αντίπαλός της στον ημιτελικό θα είναι η Κόκο Γκοφ, καθώς δεν είχε προβλήματα απέναντι στην 37χρονο Γερμανίδα, Λάουρα Σίγκεμουντ, επικρατώντας με 6-3, 6-0.
Η Σαμπαλένκα με άνεση τη Ριμπάκινα
Στο πάνω μέρος του ταμπλό η Αρίνα Σαμπαλένκα συνεχίζει απτόητη την προσπάθεια κατάκτησης του 4ου διαδοχικού τίτλου της στη Γουχάν.
Η Λευκορωσίδα ελάχιστα προβληματίστηκε απέναντι στην Έλενα Ριμπάκινα, επικράτησε με 6-3, 6-3 φθάνοντας στις 20 σερί νίκες στο τουρνουά.
Με πέντε κερδισμένα games στη σειρά η Σαμπαλένκα προηγήθηκε 6-3, 2-0 και έχοντας τον απόλυτο έλεγχο του αγώνα πέτυχε την 8η νίκη της στα 13 συνολικά παιχνίδια που έχει δώσει με τη Ριμπάκινα.
Η Τζέσικα Πεγκούλα θα είναι η αντίπαλός της στον ημιτελικό, η Αμερικανίδα αν κι έχασε το 1ο σετ από την Κατερίνα Σινιάκοβα, πήρε την πρόκριση απέναντι στην Τσέχα, με 2-6, 6-0, 6-3.
H Πεγκούλα «σφράγισε» θέση στα WTA Finals
Αναφορικά με την προσπάθεια πρόκρισης στα WTA Finals στο Ριάντ (1-8 Νοεμβρίου) από τα σημερινά αποτελέσματα στη Γουχάν ξεκαθάρισε σε πολύ μεγάλο βαθμό το τοπίο για την οκτάδα που θα βρεθεί στην πρωτεύουσας της Σαουδικής Αραβίας.
Η Πεγκούλα εξασφάλισε το 6ο εισιτήριο, ενώ πολύ κοντά στην πρόκριση βρίσκονται πλέον και η Τζασμίν Παολίνι (8η στην ειδική κατάταξη) και η Μίρα Αντρέεβα (7η θέση). Αντίθετα, έδαφος έχασε η Έλενα Ριμπάκινα. Την πρόκριση έχουν επίσης εξασφαλίσει οι: Αρίνα Σαμπαλένκα, Ίγκα Σβιόντεκ, Κόκο Γκοφ, Αμάντα Ανισίμοβα και Μάντισον Κις.
