Olympiacos won the Stoiximan SUPER CUP for the fourth consecutive year. Piraeus defeated Promitheas 92-83, with Tyler Dorsey MVP and Walkap, Papanikolaou, Vezenkov, Hall following.

Olympiacos celebrated its fourth Stoiximan SUPER CUP series on Saturday night (27/9), thanks to a 92-83 win over Promitheas at the Kallithea Indoor Stadium in Rhodes.

Giorgos Bartzokas' team entered the match surprisingly, leading 21-4, but in the fourth period they needed it. He saw the team from Patras reduce to four, at which point Kostas Papanikolaou came forward and with his own baskets decided the outcome.

Tyler Dorsey was once again the MVP of the red and white team with a great job in scoring (23 points, 3/4 two-pointers, 5/7 three-pointers, 2/2 shots) and from there on he was followed by Thomas Walkup, Sasha Vezenkov and Donda Hall who has stolen the impressions in the short time he has been in Greece.

Promitheas, for its part, made a shocking effort and had the opportunities to pressure its opponents even more. The bad start troubled Giorgos Limniatis a lot, but the end of the match certainly left him with a sweeter taste. Antonis Karagiannidis did not play, resulting in even smaller rotation for the Patras team.

Nasos Bazinas was Prometheus' top scorer (17 points, 2/2 two-pointers, 3/3 three-pointers, 4/4 shots), the one who pressured Olympiacos in the fourth period, on a night when Kendall McCallum and Rob Gray did not do much damage to the Piraeus team.

The match

With Walkup, Dorsey, Fournier, Vezenkov, Milutinov, Bartzokas opened the match, which saw Olympiacos score 11-0 in the third minute and not concede a point for almost four. The 21-4 was disappointing for Limniatis, but Prometheus found its footing, reduced it to nine at the end of the period (26-17) and gave interest to a match that seemed to be turning into a performance for a role.

Olympiacos' second five did not have much productivity at the beginning of the second quarter, but Hall finished phases close to the basket, Lee and Ward followed for 39-26 in the 15th minute and at halftime (49-36) everyone was probably happy. Piraeus because they had control of the match without being pressured and Prometheus because they showed a reaction when everything looked black for them at the beginning.

Walkap with three-pointers kept Olympiacos at a safe distance (58-43 at 26′), as Fournier – Vezenkov did not have the efficiency they wanted. Prometheus’ reaction came at the beginning of the fourth period, with Bazina doing a great job for 70-63 at 32′, scoring a three-pointer for 73-68 at 33′, but Piraeus found the solutions from Papanikolaou’s hands to take the trophy without any problems.

Στον Ολυμπιακό κατέκτησε για τέταρτη συνεχόμενη χρονιά το Stoiximan SUPER CUP. Οι Πειραιώτες νίκησαν με 92-83 τον Προμηθέα, με τον Τάιλερ Ντόρσεϊ MVP και με τους Γουόκαπ, Παπανικολάου, Βεζένκοβ, Χολ να ακολουθούν.

Το τέταρτο σερί Stoiximan SUPER CUP πανηγύρισε το βράδυ του Σαββάτου (27/9) ο Ολυμπιακός, χάρη στο 92-83 επί του Προμηθέα στο κλειστό της Καλλιθέας Ρόδου.

Η ομάδα του Γιώργου Μπαρτζώκα μπήκε εκπληκτικά στο ματς, προηγήθηκε με 21-4, όμως στην τέταρτη περίοδο τα χρειάστηκε. Είδε τους Πατρινούς να μειώνουν στους τέσσερις, σημείο στο οποίο ο Κώστας Παπανικολάου βγήκε μπροστά και με δικά του καλάθια έκρινε το αποτέλεσμα.

Ο Τάιλερ Ντόρσεϊ ήταν και πάλι ο MVP των ερυθρόλευκων με σπουδαία δουλειά στο σκοράρισμα (23 πόντοι, 3/4 δίποντα, 5/7 τρίποντα, 2/2 βολές) και από εκεί και πέρα ακολούθησαν ο Τόμας Γουόκαπ, ο Σάσα Βεζένκοβ κι ο Ντόντα Χολ που έχει κλέψει τις εντυπώσεις στο σύντομο διάστημα που βρίσκεται στην Ελλάδα.

Ο Προμηθέας, από την πλευρά του, έκανε συγκλονιστική προσπάθεια και είχε τις ευκαιρίες για να πιέσει ακόμη περισσότερο τους αντιπάλους του. Το κακό ξεκίνημα προβλημάτισε πολύ τον Γιώργο Λιμνιάτη, όμως το φινάλε του ματς του άφησε σίγουρα μια πιο γλυκιά γεύση. Δεν αγωνίστηκε ο Αντώνης Καραγιαννίδης, με αποτέλεσμα το ροτέισον στη ρακέτα να είναι ακόμη μικρότερο για τους Πατρινούς.

Ο Νάσος Μπαζίνας ήταν ο κορυφαίος του Προμηθέα (17 πόντοι, 2/2 δίποντα, 3/3 τρίποντα, 4/4 βολές), αυτός που πίεσε τον Ολυμπιακό στην τέταρτη περίοδο, το βράδυ που Κένταλ ΜακΚάλουμ και Ρομπ Γκρέι δεν έκαναν μεγάλη ζημιά στους Πειραιώτες.

Ο αγώνας

Με Γουόκαπ, Ντόρσεϊ, Φουρνιέ, Βεζένκοβ, Μιλουτίνοβ άνοιξε το ματς ο Μπαρτζώκας, που είδε τον Ολυμπιακό να γράφει το 11-0 στο τρίτο λεπτό και να μη δέχεται πόντο για σχεδόν τέσσερα. Το 21-4 απογοήτευε τον Λιμνιάτη, όμως ο Προμηθέας βρήκε τα πατήματά του, μείωσε στους εννέα στο τέλος της περιόδου (26-17) και έδωσε ενδιαφέρον σε ένα ματς που έδειχνε να μετατρέπεται σε παράσταση για έναν ρόλο.

Η δεύτερη πεντάδα του Ολυμπιακού δεν είχε μεγάλη παραγωγικότητα στις αρχές του δεύτερου δεκαλέπτου, όμως ο Χολ τελείωσε φάσεις κοντά στο καλάθι, ο Λι κι ο Γουόρντ ακολούθησαν για το 39-26 στο 15′ και στο ημίχρονο (49-36) μάλλον ήταν όλοι ευχαριστημένοι. Οι Πειραιώτες επειδή είχαν τον έλεγχο του αγώνα χωρίς να πιέζονται κι ο Προμηθέας γιατί έδειξε αντίδραση όταν όλα έδειχναν μαύρα για εκείνον στο ξεκίνημα.

Ο Γουόκαπ με τρίποντα κράτησε τον Ολυμπιακό σε απόσταση ασφαλείας (58-43 στο 26′), καθώς Φουρνιέ – Βεζένκοβ δεν είχαν την αποτελεσματικότητα που ήθελαν. Η αντίδραση του Προμηθέα ήρθε στις αρχές της τέταρτης περιόδου, με τον Μπαζίνα να κάνει σπουδαία δουλειά για το 70-63 στο 32′, να βάζει τρίποντο για το 73-68 στο 33′, αλλά τους Πειραιώτες να βρίσκουν τις λύσεις από τα χέρια του Παπανικολάου για να πάρουν το τρόπαιο χωρίς προβλήματα.
