Amorim: "Even if the Pope asks me, I won't change my system"
United's Portuguese coach, Ruben Amorim, stated in a recent interview that if he makes any tactical changes, it will be because he wants to and not because someone else will force it on him.
After yesterday's (19/09) meeting between Ratcliffe and Amorim, the United coach was asked about what happened in the meeting and whether the major shareholder of the "red devils" forced the change in tactics on him.
"Sir Jim Ratcliffe asked me to change the system? No, no, no. Not once. Not even the Pope can do that! This is my job, my responsibility, this is my life."
"I don't know if I will completely change the system, but it is true that an evolution is needed. We have to take all the steps towards the right path. I do things my way and some people do things differently, but the system will change. I hope I have the time to do it.”

For his part, Harry Maguire, in an interview with the British media outlet “SkySports”, defended Amorim and his tactics, saying that the players themselves have a large share of responsibility for the team’s image.
“They say we play with 3 or 5 defenders, but many times during the match we play with 4 defenders. If you stop the game and analyze it, we use 4 defenders in many phases of the game. It’s been like that since the coach came. People talk about the formation because we play with a different system than the others. The formation is good. We feel comfortable tactically in every game. I think it should be a little bit due to the players"

Ο Πορτογάλος τεχνικός της Γιουνάιτεντ, Ρούμπεν Αμορίμ, σε πρόσφατη συνέντευξη του δήλωσε ότι αν προχωρήσει σε κάποια αλλαγή τακτικής θα είναι επειδή το επιθυμεί ο ίδιος και όχι γιατί θα του το επιβάλλουν.
Μετά το τέλος της χθεσινής (19/09) συνάντησης μεταξύ Ράτκλιφ και Αμορίμ, ο προπονητής της Γιουνάιτεντ ρωτήθηκε για το τί συνέβη στη συνάντηση και το αν o μεγαλομέτοχος των «κόκκινων διαβόλων» του επέβαλε την αλλαγή στη τακτική.
«Ο Σερ Τζιμ Ράτκλιφ μου ζήτησε να αλλάξω το σύστημα; Όχι, όχι, όχι. Ούτε μία φορά. Ούτε ο Πάπας δε μπορεί να το κάνει αυτό! Αυτή είναι η δουλειά μου, η ευθύνη μου, αυτή είναι η ζωή μου».
«Δε ξέρω αν θα αλλάξω τελείως το σύστημα, αλλά είναι αλήθεια ότι χρειάζεται μια εξέλιξη. Πρέπει να κάνουμε όλα τα βήματα προς την σωστή πορεία. Κάνω τα πράγματα με τον δικό μου τρόπο και κάποιοι κάνουν τα πράγματα με διαφορετικό τρόπο, αλλά το σύστημα θα αλλάξει. Ελπίζω να έχω τον χρόνο να το κάνω».

Από τη μεριά του ο Χάρι Μαγκουάιρ σε συνέντευξη του στο βρετανικό μέσο «SkySports» υπερασπίστηκε τον Αμορίμ και τις τακτικές του, λέγοντας πως για την εικόνα της ομάδας μεγάλο μερίδιο ευθύνης έχουν και οι ίδιοι οι παίκτες.
«Λένε ότι παίζουμε με 3 ή 5 αμυντικούς, αλλά πολλές φορές κατά τη διάρκεια του αγώνα παίζουμε και με 4 αμυντικούς. Αν σταματήσεις το παιχνίδι και το αναλύσεις, χρησιμοποιούμε 4 αμυντικούς σε πολλές φάσεις του παιχνιδιού. Έτσι είναι από τότε που ήρθε ο προπονητής. Ο κόσμος μιλάει για τον σχηματισμό επειδή παίζουμε με διαφορετικό σύστημα από τους υπόλοιπους. Ο σχηματισμός είναι καλός. Νιώθουμε άνετα τακτικά σε κάθε παιχνίδι. Νομίζω ότι πρέπει να οφείλεται λίγο και στους παίκτες»
