Belgrade Arena General Manager: “Euroleague says the Final Four should be held at OAKA”

Goran Grbovic, General Manager of Belgrade Arena, said that the Euroleague wants to hold the Final Four in Athens.

As is known, the city and stadium that will host the Euroleague Final Four in 2026 are expected to be announced next month.

Athens and Belgrade are the two candidate cities to host the event, with the General Manager of “Belgrade Arena” revealing the Euroleague’s intentions in the podcast “Jao Mile”.

Specifically, he said that the organizing authority said that the next Final Four will be held at OAKA (ed., now Telekom Center Athens) and it remains to be seen whether it will be confirmed in a few days.

In detail, what Grbovic said

“The EuroLeague is managed by 3-4 bodies, I don’t know anymore. ECA, which is the founder, IMG, which manages the commercial activities and has a contract with them, the owners, which are the most important, that is, the clubs, and the management, Paulius Motiejunas and the others. I was told this by a person from the NBA who is from Israel, that he did not know who to talk to and did not know who to ask what. Do you understand?

Now, for example, we are left alone with Athens in, let's say, a "duel" for the 2026 Final Four. We were the only ones who applied last year, and for the three years of the Final Four of 2025, 2026 and 2027. Nobody else applied. Two days before the vote of the EuroLeague board of directors, Abu Dhabi showed up. This is not allowed by the EuroLeague regulations. They ask you for everything from your blood type to your eye color. Six of us fill out a bunch of paperwork. And they said they chose Abu Dhabi because "they gave us the money, so let's go there." IMG gets half the money, after they closed the deal, a percentage goes to ECA, and the clubs get the leftover crumbs. Especially the bigger clubs won't go to Athens because of Giannakopoulos, because he insults the EuroLeague and everything and everyone. However, this EuroLeague administration says it doesn't matter that he insults us. Imagine what he did to Florentino Perez. "It doesn't matter, let's go to OAKA," they say. And of course, we always have the Serbian domestic traitors who do everything so that we don't get it and Athens gets it. And they won't think about Real Madrid, but they will reward him for calling them mafia, idiots and bastards. But the EuroLeague administration says it doesn't matter. ECA is neutral. IMG just wants money.”

O Γκόραν Γκρμποβιτς, Γενικός Διευθυντής της Belgrade Arena, ανέφερε ότι η Euroleague θέλει να κάνει το Final Four στην Αθήνα.

Όπως είναι γνωστό, τον επόμενο μήνα αναμένεται να ανακοινωθεί η πόλη και το γήπεδο που θα φιλοξενήσουν το Final Four της Euroleague το 2026.

Αθήνα και Βελιγράδι είναι οι δύο υποψήφιες πόλεις προκειμένου να αναλάβουν τη διοργάνωση, με τον Γενικό Διευθυντή της «Belgrade Arena» να αποκαλύπτει στο podcast «Jao Mile» τις προθέσεις της Euroleague.

Συγκεκριμένα ανέφερε ότι η διοργανώτρια αρχή είπε ότι το επόμενο Final Four θα διεξαχθεί στο ΟΑΚΑ (σ.σ. νυν Telekom Center Athens) και μένει να φανεί εάν θα επιβεβαιωθεί σε λίγες ημέρες.

Αναλυτικά τα όσα είπε o Γκρμποβιτς

«Η EuroLeague διοικείται από 3-4 φορείς, δεν ξέρω πια. Η ECA, που είναι η ιδρύτρια, η IMG, που διαχειρίζεται τις εμπορικές δραστηριότητες και έχει συμβόλαιο μαζί τους, οι ιδιοκτήτες, που είναι οι πιο σημαντικοί, δηλαδή οι σύλλογοι, και η διοίκηση, ο Παούλιους Μοτιεγιούνας και οι άλλοι. Μου το είπε αυτό ένας άνθρωπος από το NBA που είναι από το Ισραήλ, ότι δεν ήξερε με ποιον να μιλήσει και δεν ήξερε ποιον να ρωτήσει τι. Καταλαβαίνετε;

Τώρα, για παράδειγμα, έχουμε μείνει μόνοι με την Αθήνα σε, ας πούμε, μια "μονομαχία" για το Final Four του 2026. Ήμασταν οι μόνοι που κάναμε αίτηση πέρυσι, και για τα τρία χρόνια των Final Four του 2025, 2026 και 2027. Κανείς άλλος δεν υπέβαλε αίτηση. Δύο μέρες πριν την ψηφοφορία του διοικητικού συμβουλίου της EuroLeague, εμφανίστηκε το Άμπου Ντάμπι. Αυτό δεν επιτρέπεται από τους κανονισμούς της EuroLeague. Σου ζητούν τα πάντα, από την ομάδα αίματος μέχρι το χρώμα των ματιών, να τα συμπληρώνεις. Έξι από εμάς συμπληρώνουμε ένα σωρό έγγραφα. Και είπαν ότι επέλεξαν το Άμπου Ντάμπι επειδή "μας έδωσαν τα λεφτά, οπότε ας πάμε εκεί". Η IMG παίρνει τα μισά χρήματα, αφού έκλεισε τη συμφωνία, ένα ποσοστό πηγαίνει στην ECA, και οι σύλλογοι παίρνουν τα ψίχουλα που απομένουν.

Ειδικά οι μεγαλύτεροι σύλλογοι δεν θα πάνε στην Αθήνα εξαιτίας του Γιαννακόπουλου, επειδή προσβάλλει την EuroLeague και τα πάντα και τους πάντες. Ωστόσο, αυτή η διοίκηση της EuroLeague λέει ότι δεν πειράζει που μας προσβάλλει. Φανταστείτε τι έκανε στον Φλορεντίνο Πέρεθ. "Δεν πειράζει, πάμε στο ΟΑΚΑ", λένε. Και φυσικά, έχουμε πάντα τους Σέρβους εγχώριους προδότες που κάνουν τα πάντα για να μην το πάρουμε εμείς και να το πάρει η Αθήνα. Και δεν θα σκεφτούν τη Ρεάλ Μαδρίτης, αλλά θα τον επιβραβεύσουν που τους αποκάλεσε μαφία, ηλίθιους και καθάρματα. Αλλά η διοίκηση της EuroLeague λέει ότι δεν πειράζει. Η ECA είναι ουδέτερη. Η IMG θέλει απλώς χρήματα».
