EKO Rally Acropolis: Ogier and Tanak brought "X" to the special stage (vid)

The Frenchman of Toyota and the Estonian of Hyundai recorded exactly the same time on the 1.5 km long route in the center of Athens.

With a lot of people watching but also more than an hour delay due to traffic congestion in the center of Athens, the special stage of the EKO Rally Acropolis was held. In fact, the starting ceremony in front of the Panathenaic Stadium was held with concise procedures, in order to avoid further delays.

The special stage was 1.5 km long and was designed in Vasilissis Olgas and Zappeion Megaron Square. The first place was shared by Sébastien Ogier (Toyota Gazoo Racing) and Otto Tanak (Hyundai Motorsport) with a time of 1:18.1. Takamoto Katsuta (Toyota) followed with a 1:19.0, Adrian Fourmeaux (Hyundai) with a 1:19.1 and Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) with a 1:19.2.

“The temperatures are expected to be extreme. It will be a very tough race. The Acropolis stages are full of stones. We will do our best,” said Ogier. “Inside the car things will be marginal. Friday will be a difficult day without service. We will do our best,” commented Tänak for his part.

The fastest Greek was Iordanis Serderidis (Ford Puma Rally1) with a 1:27.5, while he was followed by Giorgos Amoutzas (Skoda Fabia Evo), with a 1:30.0 and Nontas Karanikolas (Ford Fiesta) with a 1:30.3.

The EKO Rally Acropolis continues on Friday with 6 special stages, in Corinth and Central Greece.

Ο Γάλλος της Toyota και ο Εσθονός της Hyundai σημείωσαν ακριβώς τον ίδιο χρόνο στη διαδρομή μήκους 1,5 χλμ. στο κέντρο της Αθήνας.

Με πολύ κόσμο να παρακολουθεί αλλά και πάνω από μία ώρα καθυστέρηση λόγω της κυκλοφοριακής συμφόρησης στο κέντρο της Αθήνας, διεξήχθη η υπερειδική του ΕΚΟ Ράλλυ Ακρόπολις. Μάλιστα η τελετή εκκίνησης μπροστά από το Παναθηναϊκό Στάδιο έγινε με συνοπτικές διαδικασίες, προκειμένου να μην υπάρξει νέα καθυστέρηση.

Η υπερειδική διαδρομή είχε μήκος 1,5 χλμ. και σχεδιάστηκε στην Βασιλίσσης Όλγας και την πλατεία του Ζαππείου Μεγάρου. Την πρώτη θέση μοιράστηκαν ο Σεμπαστιάν Οζιέ(Toyota Gazoo Racing) και ο Οτ Τάνακ (Hyundai Motorsport) με χρόνο 1:18.1. Ακολούθησαν ο Τακαμότο Κατσούτα (Toyota) με 1:19.0, ο Αντριάν Φουρμό (Hyundai) με 1:19.1 και ο Τιερί Νεβίλ (Hyundai) με 1:19.2.

«Οι θερμοκρασίες αναμένεται να είναι ακραίες. Θα είναι πολύ σκληρός αγώνας. Οι ειδικές του Ακρόπολις είναι γεμάτες πέτρες. Θα κάνουμε ό,τι καλύτερο μπορούμε», δήλωσε ο Οζιέ. «Μέσα στο αυτοκίνητο τα πράγματα θα είναι οριακά. Η Παρασκευή θα είναι δύσκολη μέρα χωρίς σέρβις. Θα βάλουμε τα δυνατά μας», σχολίασε από την πλευρά του ο Τάνακ.

Ταχύτερος Έλληνας ο Ιορδάνης Σερδερίδης (Ford Puma Rally1) με 1:27.5, ενώ ακολούθησαν ο Γιώργος Αμούτζας (Skoda Fabia Evo), με 1:30.0 και ο Νώντας Καρανικόλας (Ford Fiesta) με 1:30.3.

Το ΕΚΟ Ράλλυ Ακρόπολις συνεχίζεται την Παρασκευή σ 6 ειδικές διαδρομές, σε Κορινθία και Στερεά Ελλάδα.
