This was the 34th straight sets victory for the Belarusian tennis player in the 39 matches she has played and won this season. This will be the second semifinal for the world No.1 at Roland Garros, where she awaits the winner between Elina Svitolina and Iga Swiatek.

Regarding the competitive part, Sabalenka was quickly broken and found herself two games behind (3-1). The 27-year-old tennis player looked for the answer, which she found in the 8th game to bring the set to a draw (4-4). Holding her serve in the very next game, she sent Qingwen Zheng to serve to stay in the set, which she managed for the second time, also erasing a set point from her opponent.

The set was decided in the tie-break, where Sabalenka took the lead with three mini breaks and on her second set point closed the set with 7-6(3) to take the lead.

In the second set, the two athletes held serve, going game-to-game. With the score at 3-3, the Australian Open finalist broke her opponent's serve and held her to serve once more to stay in the match. For her part, Zeng, having lowered her serve percentages considerably, was unable to repeat what she did in the first set and with another break lost the set (6-3) and the match.

Το σετ κρίθηκε στο tie-break, όπου η Σαμπαλένκα με τρία mini breaks πήρε κεφάλι και στο δεύτερο της set point έκλεισε το σετ με 7-6(3) για να πάρει προβάδισμα.

Στο δεύτερο σετ, οι δύο αθλήτριες κράτησαν το σερβίς του πηγαίνοντας game - game. Με το σκορ στο 3-3, η φιναλίστ του Australian Open πραγματοποίησε break στο σερβίς της αντιπάλους και με hold την έστειλε για ακόμη μία φορά να σερβίρει για να κρατηθεί στο ματς.
