At the same time, this was her 10th consecutive qualification to the "8" Grand Slam!

The Belarusian may be the world No. 1, but her history with Ananisimova was not in her favor, as she had lost in 5 of their 7 previous meetings, including a defeat at Roland Garros in 2019, when the American reached the semifinals.

This time, however, Sabalenka proved why she is at the top. With a powerful serve and determination at crucial points, she swept the match in 1 hour and 32 minutes. “I am very happy with this victory, especially since it came in straight sets against Amanda. We have fought many great battles in the past,” she said after the match.

Next up for Sabalenka is China’s Zheng Qingwen, who won Roland Garros in 2023 and is No. 8 on the board. In fact, she had eliminated the Belarusian in Rome, with Sabalenka emphasizing with a smile after the match: "It will definitely be a tough battle. I want my rematch after Rome."

Μπορεί η Λευκορωσίδα να είναι το Νο.1 της παγκόσμιας κατάταξης, ωστόσο η προϊστορία με την Ανανισίμοβα δεν ήταν υπέρ της, καθώς είχε ηττηθεί στις 5 από τις 7 προηγούμενες συναντήσεις τους, συμπεριλαμβανομένης και της ήττας στο Roland Garros το 2019, όταν η Αμερικανίδα έφτασε μέχρι τα ημιτελικά.

Αυτή τη φορά, όμως, η Σαμπαλένκα απέδειξε γιατί είναι στην κορυφή. Με δυναμικό σερβίς και αποφασιστικότητα στα κρίσιμα σημεία, καθάρισε τον αγώνα σε 1 ώρα και 32 λεπτά. «Είμαι πολύ χαρούμενη με αυτή τη νίκη, ειδικά που ήρθε σε straight sets απέναντι στην Αμάντα. Έχουμε δώσει πολλές μεγάλες μάχες στο παρελθόν», δήλωσε μετά τον αγώνα.

Επόμενη αντίπαλος για τη Σαμπαλένκα η Κινέζα Ζενγκ Κινγουέν, που κατέκτησε το Roland Garros το 2023 και είναι Νο.8 του ταμπλό. Μάλιστα, είχε αποκλείσει τη Λευκορωσίδα στη Ρώμη, με τη Σαμπαλένκα να τονίζει με χαμόγελο μετά το ματς: «Θα είναι σίγουρα μια σκληρή μάχη. Θέλω τη ρεβάνς μου μετά τη Ρώμη».
