Olympiacos – Panathinaikos 91-83: Red and white draw with the same coin, in a final-rodeo at SEF (video)
In one of the episodic derbies of all time, Olympiacos defeated Panathinaikos relatively easily (91-83) to tie the Stoiximan GBL finals series at 1-1. Great match from Tyler Dorsey, great Thomas Walkup, Kostas Sloukas fought alone, Dimitris Giannakopoulos left and Ergin Ataman was sent off.
Two days after the first game of the Stoiximan GBL finals series and Panathinaikos' comfortable victory, it was Olympiacos' turn to break out.
The Piraeus team crushed the green team 91-83 at the Peace and Friendship Stadium, tied the game at 1-1 and showed that they have a pulse, in an eventful night that had extreme tension on and off the field with Dimitris Giannakopoulos leading the Greek champions' mission.
Tyler Dorsey and Sasha Vezenkov, Evan Fournier and Thomas Walkup, Shaquille McKissic and Kostas Papanikolaou, Alec Peters and Mustafa Fall, those who competed gave their best, in a forty-minute period that had tremendous electricity. Luca Vildosa was left out of the six foreign players.
Kostas Sloukas was Panathinaikos' top scorer and Ioannis Papapetrou was the one who followed him, with Ergin Ataman seeing Nan, Yurtseven, Gabriel each have three fouls in the first half and the greens playing well below their standards. The Turkish coach was sent off in the fourth period.

The MVP
Tyler Dorsey was not in Giorgos Bartzokas' rotation in the EuroLeague season finale, he was negative at OAKA, but at SEF he broke out and led Olympiacos to victory with 16 points (3/6 two-pointers, 1/5 three-pointers, 7/9 shots) in 24 minutes. He grabbed six rebounds, gave two assists, won six fouls and was indeed the player who made the difference for Piraeus. Thomas Walkup was also great, however, who scored 16 points from 3/3 two-pointers, 2/2 three-pointers and 4/4 shots in 17 minutes. Great, in every sense of the word.
The statistics that stood out
Olympiacos closed the first quarter with 12 points from its substitutes, while the score from the opponent's mistakes was 10-2. At halftime, the two teams had 3/22 three-pointers, with the points from the bench (26-9) overwhelmingly in favor of the home team. At the end of the night, Panathinaikos had scored 20 points in the surprise attack and 43 from its bench, but the home team took advantage of the shots they won and ultimately made the difference.
The match
With Walkup, Fournier, Papanikolaou, Vezenkov, Fall, Olympiacos opened the match, with Grant, Nunn, Osman, Hernangomez, Gabriel, Panathinaikos opened it. The match was intense and had tough duels from the beginning, with warnings, strong fouls and technique on Ataman, with the score staying low and the guests being effective in the two-point game (10-15 at 7′). This was followed by a 13-3 run by the home team towards the end of the period (23-18), with the substitutes making a huge difference.
Ataman opened the second with Nan who had two fouls, saw Yurtseven make the third with the score at 25-21 in the 12th minute and Nan also the third in the next minute. McKissick damaged him, 31-21 was achieved midway through the period with Panathinaikos having Papapetrou, Samodurov and Mitoglou on the court and until 41-31 at halftime the picture of the match did not change. At the break the eternals had a combined 3/22 three-pointers, with Dorsey the top scorer with 10 points. Papanikolaou opened the second half with a long shot for +13, Wocap did the same in the next phase for +16 and Olympiacos escaped to a safe distance. Ataman was anxiously looking for someone to lead, except for Sloukas, no one was in that mood, Papanikolaou and Fournier each made a three-pointer for 60-42 in the 26th minute and the situation was becoming more and more difficult for Panathinaikos, who nevertheless found a three-pointer for 66-55 at the end of the third period.
The Greens reduced the lead to six (70-64) early in the fourth, when McKissick scored a two-pointer off an assist from Walkup and Dorsey made shots for +10. Panathinaikos reduced the lead to five (74-69), Walkup made a field goal foul, Sloukas answered with a three-pointer and the derby became… a rodeo. Vezenkov scored with a technical shot to make it 83-75 at 2:33, followed by a technical to Slouka and another shot by Vezenkov for +9, a third technical to Ataman who left and 1/2 shots that definitively decided the game.

Σε ένα από τα επεισοδιακά ντέρμπι όλων των εποχών, ο Ολυμπιακός νίκησε σχετικά εύκολα τον Παναθηναϊκό (91-83) για να ισοφαρίσει στο 1-1 τη σειρά των τελικών της Stoiximan GBL. Μεγάλο ματς από τον Τάιλερ Ντόρσεϊ, σπουδαίος ο Τόμας Γουόκαπ, πάλευε μόνος ο Κώστας Σλούκας, αποχώρησε ο Δημήτρης Γιαννακόπουλος και αποβλήθηκε ο Εργκίν Αταμάν.
Δύο ημέρες μετά από το πρώτο παιχνίδι της σειράς των τελικών της Stoiximan GBL και την άνετη επικράτηση του Παναθηναϊκού, ήρθε η σειρά του Ολυμπιακού να ξεσπάσει.
Οι Πειραιώτες συνέτριψαν τους πράσινους με 91-83 στο Στάδιο Ειρήνης και Φιλίας, ισοφάρισαν στο 1-1 και έδειξαν ότι έχουν σφυγμό, σε μια επεισοδιακή βραδιά που είχε ακραία ένταση εντός κι εκτός γηπέδου με τον Δημήτρη Γιαννακόπουλο ο οποίος ηγήθηκε της αποστολής των πρωταθλητών Ελλάδας.
Τάιλερ Ντόρσεϊ και Σάσα Βεζένκοβ, Εβάν Φουρνιέ και Τόμας Γουόκαπ, Σακίλ ΜακΚίσικ και Κώστας Παπανικολάου, Άλεκ Πίτερς και Μουστάφα Φαλ, όσοι αγωνίστηκαν πρόσφεραν τα μέγιστα, σε ένα σαραντάλεπτο που είχε τρομερό ηλεκτρισμό. Εκτός εξάδας ξένων έμεινε ο Λούκα Βιλντόσα.
Ο Κώστας Σλούκας ήταν ο κορυφαίος του Παναθηναϊκού και ο Ιωάννης Παπαπέτρου αυτός που τον ακολούθησε, με τον Εργκίν Αταμάν να βλέπει τους Ναν, Γιούρτσεβεν, Γκέιμπριελ να έχουν από τρία φάουλ στο πρώτο μέρος και τους πράσινους να παίζουν πολύ κάτω από τα στάνταρ τους. Αποβλήθηκε στην τέταρτη περίοδο ο Τούρκος προπονητής.

Ο MVP
Ο Τάιλερ Ντόρσεϊ δεν υπήρχε στο ροτέισον του Γιώργου Μπαρτζώκα στο φινάλε της σεζόν στη EuroLeague, στο ΟΑΚΑ ήταν αρνητικός, στο ΣΕΦ όμως ξέσπασε και οδήγησε τον Ολυμπιακό στην νίκη με 16 πόντους (3/6 δίποντα, 1/5 τρίποντα, 7/9 βολές) σε 24 λεπτά. Πήρε έξι ριμπάουντ, έδωσε δύο ασίστ, κέρδισε έξι φάουλ και ήταν πράγματι ο παίκτης που έκανε τη διαφορά για τους Πειραιώτες. Σπουδαίος πάντως κι ο Τόμας Γουόκαπ, που έβαλε 16 πόντους από 3/3 δίποντα, 2/2 τρίποντα και 4/4 βολές σε 17 λεπτά. Σπουδαίος, με όλη τη σημασία της λέξης.
Τα στατιστικά που ξεχώρισαν
Με 12 πόντους από τους αναπληρωματικούς του έκλεισε το πρώτο δεκάλεπτο ο Ολυμπιακός, την ώρα που το σκορ από τα λάθη του αντιπάλου ήταν 10-2. Στο ημίχρονο οι δύο ομάδες είχαν 3/22 τρίποντα, με τους πόντους από τον πάγκο (26-9) να είναι συντριπτικά υπέρ των γηπεδούχων. Στο τέλος της βραδιάς ο Παναθηναϊκός είχε βρει 20 πόντους στον αιφνιδιασμό και 43 από τον πάγκο του, όμως οι γηπεδούχοι εκμεταλλεύθηκαν τις βολές που κέρδισαν και έκαναν τελικά τη διαφορά.
Ο αγώνας
Με Γουόκαπ, Φουρνιέ, Παπανικολάου, Βεζένκοβ, Φαλ άνοιξε το ματς ο Ολυμπιακός, με Γκραντ, Ναν, Όσμαν, Ερνανγκόμεθ, Γκέιμπριελ το άνοιξε ο Παναθηναϊκός. Το ματς είχε ένταση και σκληρές μονομαχίες από νωρίς, είχε προειδοποιήσεις, δυνατά φάουλ και τεχνική στον Αταμάν, με το σκορ να μένει χαμηλά και τους φιλοξενούμενους να έχουν αποτελεσματικότητα στο δίποντο (10-15 στο 7′). Ακολούθησε 13-3 από τους γηπεδούχους προς το τέλος της περιόδου (23-18), με τους αναπληρωματικούς να κάνουν τεράστια διαφορά.
Ο Αταμάν άνοιξε τη δεύτερη με τον Ναν που είχε δύο φάουλ, είδε τον Γιούρτσεβεν να κάνει το τρίτο με το σκορ στο 25-21 στο 12′ και τον Ναν επίσης το τρίτο στο επόμενο λεπτό. Ο ΜακΚίσικ τον έφθειρε, το 31-21 στα μέσα της περιόδου επιτεύχθηκε με τον Παναθηναϊκό να έχει Παπαπέτρου, Σαμοντούροβ και Μήτογλου στο παρκέ και μέχρι το 41-31 του ημιχρόνου η εικόνα της αναμέτρησης δεν άλλαξε. Στην ανάπαυλα οι αιώνιοι είχαν μαζί 3/22 τρίποντα, με τον Ντόρσεϊ πρώτο σκόρερ με 10 πόντους.
Ο Παπανικολάου άνοιξε με μακρινό σουτ το β’ μέρος για το +13, ο Γούοκαπ έκανε το ίδιο στην επόμενη φάση για το +16 κι ο Ολυμπιακός ξέφυγε σε μία απόσταση ασφαλείας. Ο Αταμάν έψαχνε με αγωνία κάποιον να ηγηθεί, εκτός του Σλούκα ουδείς ήταν σε αυτό το mood, ο Παπανικολάου κι ο Φουρνιέ έβαλαν από ένα τρίποντο για το 60-42 στο 26′ και η κατάσταση γινόταν όλο και πιο δύσκολη για τον Παναθηναϊκό που πάντως βρήκε ένα τρίποντο για το 66-55 στην εκπνοή της τρίτης περιόδου.
Οι πράσινοι μείωσαν στους έξι (70-64) νωρίς στην τέταρτη, εκεί που ο ΜακΚίσικ έβαλε δίποντο από ασίστ του Γουόκαπ κι ο Ντόρσεϊ βολές για το +10. Ο Παναθηναϊκός μείωσε και στους πέντε (74-69), ο Γουόκαπ έβαλε γκολ-φάουλ, ο Σλούκας απάντησε με τρίποντο και το ντέρμπι έγινε… ροντέο. Ο Βεζένκοβ έγραψε με βολή τεχνικής το 83-75 στα 2:33, ακολούθησε τεχνική στον Σλούκα και νέα βολή του Βεζένκοβ για το +9, τρίτη τεχνική στον Αταμάν που αποχώρησε και 1/2 βολές που έκριναν οριστικά τον αγώνα.
