Evan Fournier was the last to speak in Barcelona! He took the opportunity, took the effort, scored the basket and gave Olympiacos a huge victory over Barcelona (90-88) in a thrilling game.
Another thriller, another huge away victory for Olympiacos who triumphed on Friday night (7/2) at Palau Blaugrana (90-88) and took another step towards winning first place in the EuroLeague regular season.

The IMPOSSIBLE Evan Fournier was a great protagonist who took the opportunity, took the effort, scored the basket and gave Piraeus their ninth victory in 14 games away from SEF. The red and whites rose to 19-7 (10-2 at home and 9-5 away), with the Frenchman scoring 18 points, Sasha Vezenkov stopping at 24 and Nigel Williams-Goss doing wonders with 20 points, four rebounds and five assists in 32 minutes.
Barcelona fell to 14-12 (8-5 at home and 6-7 away), with coach Peñarroya seeing Pender, Brijuela, Parker, and Metu do a lot, perhaps even more than they could at times, but without Jan Vesely, giving Billy Hernangomez nine minutes and suffering a defeat that could decide the Catalans' entire season.
MVP
What a game Nigel Williams-Goss had (20 points, 7/9 two-pointers, 2/4 three-pointers, 4 rebounds, 5 assists in 31:32); What a game Sasha Vezenkov had (24 points, 6/8 two-pointers, 3/6 three-pointers, 3/3 shooting, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal in 32:20). Both incredible. But in the end the legendary Evan Fournier got the ball, got the effort, got the decision. He scored the winning basket and closed the forty minutes with 18 points from 4/9 two-pointers, 3/8 three-pointers, 1/2 shots, two rebounds, two assists, two steals in 26:34.
The statistics that stood out
With 9 points from 3/4 two-pointers and 1/1 three-pointer, Vezenkov closed the first period, while the two teams did not have an offensive rebound and had wasted one and two possessions respectively. At halftime, Olympiacos has 71% in two-pointers and Barcelona 12 assists for just one mistake. At the end of the night, Piraeus had 20 assists for nine fouls, had three players between 18 and 24 points, all of this in a match without a point in the surprise (!), with the points from the opponent's mistakes 11-11 and those from second chances (offensive rebounds (14-10).
The match
With Williams-Goss, Fournier, Papanikolaou, Vezenkov, Fall, Olympiacos opened the match, which got seven points from the Bulgarian forward (11-10 in the 5th minute), before Larentzakis replaced Fournier and assisted for 18-22 in the 9th minute. This was also the score of the period, in which Piraeus had 7/10 two-pointers.
Bartzokas opened the second quarter with Williams-Goss, Larentzakis, Peters, Vezenkov, Milutinov, put Mitrou-Long in early, saw Sasha score a three-pointer for 23-28 and the substitutes give a significant boost. Fournier wrote 40-42 in 18', with the half finding the home team ahead (47-45) thanks to an outburst by Meto. Parker and Pender scored in quick succession at the start of the second half for 56-47, with Vezenkov catching fire for 56-54 with incredible baskets from close, medium and long distance. Sacha and Fournier had incredible partnerships, the Frenchman wrote 59-62, but Barcelona held on again thanks to the very competitive Metu for 65-66 at the end of the third.
Williams-Goss and McKissick were unbeatable at the beginning of the fourth (67-74 at 32'), they continued to be the two who rushed Barcelona's racket again and again. Fall made a huge basket for 79-84, Fournier made two bad decisions in the space of a few seconds, Brithuela made a three-pointer for 82-84 and chaos followed.
At 18.9" Pender won a foul and made the shots for 88-88, Bartzokas called a timeout and Fournier took the big shot to make it and give his team the victory. He held the ball, was pressured, went all the way inside, made history.

Μεγάλος πρωταγωνιστής ο ΑΠΙΘΑΝΟΣ Εβάν Φουρνιέ που πήρε τη φάση, πήρε την προσπάθεια, έβαλε το καλάθι και έδωσε στους Πειραιώτες την ένατη νίκη τους σε 14 αγώνες μακριά από το ΣΕΦ. Στο 19-7 ανέβηκαν οι ερυθρόλευκοι (10-2 εντός και 9-5 εκτός έδρας), με τον Γάλλο να βάζει 18 πόντους, τον Σάσα Βεζένκοβ να σταματάει στους 24 και τον Νάιτζελ Γουίλιαμς-Γκος να κάνει πράγματα και θαύματα με 20 πόντους, τέσσερα ριμπάουντ και πέντε ασίστ σε 32 λεπτά.
Στο 14-12 έπεσε η Μπαρτσελόνα (8-5 εντός και 6-7 εκτός έδρας), με τον coach Πενιαρόγια να βλέπει τους Πάντερ, Μπριθουέλα, Πάρκερ, Μέτου να κάνουν πολλά, ίσως και κάποιες στιγμές περισσότερα απ' όσα μπορούσαν, αλλά να μην έχει τον Γιαν Βέσελι, να δίνει εννέα λεπτά στον Μπίλι Ερνανγκόμεθ και να γνωρίζει μία ήττα που μπορεί να κρίνει όλη τη σεζόν των Καταλανών.

Τι ματς έκανε ο Νάιτζελ Γουίλιαμς-Γκος (20 πόντοι, 7/9 δίποντα, 2/4 τρίποντα, 4 ριμπάουντ, 5 ασίστ σε 31:32); Τι ματς έκανε ο Σάσα Βεζένκοβ (24 πόντοι, 6/8 δίποντα, 3/6 τρίποντα, 3/3 βολές, 5 ριμπάουντ, 3 ασίστ, 1 κλέψιμο σε 32:20). Απίθανοι και οι δύο. Στο τέλος όμως ο μυθικός Εβάν Φουρνιέ πήρε τη μπάλα, πήρε την προσπάθεια, πήρε την απόφαση. Έβαλε το νικητήριο καλάθι και έκλεισε το σαραντάλεπτο με 18 πόντους από 4/9 δίποντα, 3/8 τρίποντα, 1/2 βολές, δύο ριμπάουντ, δύο ασίστ, δύο κλεψίματα σε 26:34.
Τα στατιστικά που ξεχώρισαν
Με 9 πόντου από 3/4 δίποντα και 1/1 τρίποντο έκλεισε την πρώτη περίοδο ο Βεζένκοβ, την ώρα που οι δύο ομάδες δεν είχαν επιθετικό ριμπάουντ και είχαν σπαταλήσει μία και δύο κατοχές αντίστοιχα. Στο ημίχρονο ο Ολυμπιακός έχει 71% στο δίποντο και τη Μπαρτσελόνα 12 ασίστ για μόλις ένα λάθος. Στο τέλος της βραδιάς οι Πειραιώτες μετρούσαν 20 ασίστ για εννέα λάθη, είχαν τρεις παίκτες ανάμεσα στους 18 και τους 24 πόντους, όλα αυτά σε ματς χωρίς πόντο στον αιφνιδιασμό (!), με τους πόντους από τα λάθη του αντιπάλου 11-11 και εκείνους από δεύτερες ευκαιρίες (επιθετικά ριμπάουντ (14-10).
Ο αγώνας
Με Γουίλιαμς-Γκος, Φουρνιέ, Παπανικολάου, Βεζένκοβ, Φαλ άνοιξε το ματς ο Ολυμπιακός, που πήρε επτά πόντους από τον Βούλγαρο φόργουορντ (11-10 στο 5'), πριν ο Λαρεντζάκης αλλάξει τον Φουρνιέ και βοηθήσει για το 18-22 στο 9'. Αυτό ήταν και το σκορ της περιόδου, στην οποία οι Πειραιώτες είχαν 7/10 δίποντα.
Ο Μπαρτζώκας άνοιξε το δεύτερο δεκάλεπτο με Γουίλιαμς-Γκος, Λαρεντζάκη, Πίτερς, Βεζένκοβ, Μιλουτίνοβ, έβαλε νωρίς τον Μήτρου-Λονγκ, είδε τον Σάσα να σκοράρει τρίποντο για το 23-28 και τους αναπληρωματικούς να δίνουν σημαντική ώθηση. Ο Φουρνιέ έγραψε το 40-42 στο 18', με το ημίχρονο να βρίσκει τους γηπεδούχους μπροστά (47-45) χάρη σε ξέσπασμα του Μέτου.
Πάρκερ και Πάντερ σκόραραν κατά ριπάς στο ξεκίνημα του β' μέρους για το 56-47, με τον Βεζένκοβ να παίρνει φωτιά για το 56-54 με απίθανα καλάθια από κοντινή, μέση και μακρινή απόσταση. Σάσα και Φουρνιέ είχαν απίθανες συνεργασίες, ο Γάλλος έγραψε το 59-62, όμως η Μπαρτσελόνα άντεξε και πάλι χάρη στον ανταγωνιστικότατο Μέτου για το 65-66 στο τέλος της τρίτης.
Γουίλιαμς-Γκος και ΜακΚίσικ ήταν ασυναγώνιστοι στις αρχές της τέταρτης (67-74 στο 32'), συνέχισαν να είναι οι δύο που ορμούσαν ξανά και ξανά στη ρακέτα της Μπαρτσελόνα. Ο Φαλ έβαλε τεράστιο καλάθι για το 79-84, ο Φουρνιέ πήρε δύο κακές αποφάσεις σε διάστημα λίγων δευτερολέπτων, ο Μπριθουέλα έβαλε τρίποντο για το 82-84 και ακολούθησε χάος.
Στα 18.9" ο Πάντερ κέρδισε φάουλ και έβαλε τις βολές για το 88-88, ο Μπαρτζώκας κάλεσε timeout και ο Φουρνιέ πήρε το μεγάλο σουτ για να το βάλει και να δώσει στην ομάδα του την νίκη. Κράτησε τη μπάλα, πιέστηκε, πήγε μέχρι μέσα, έγραψε ιστορία.
