Joel Embiid will probably undergo another operation on his troubled left knee at the end of the season. The discomfort and swelling have not left the 31-year-old center, who has played in just 19 games this year, averaging 23.8 points, 8.2 rebounds and 4.5 assists.
“We take it day by day. If the situation worsens, then you have to do something about it. It's not enough if you can't be consistently present," the Cameroonian ace, who also played in just 39 games last year due to a torn meniscus in his left knee, said a while ago.
As the Sixers announced, the 2023 MVP's knee has swollen again, resulting in him having to undergo a new round of tests. This means that all scenarios are open, even surgery, since this year seems lost for the Pennsylvania franchise anyway.

Σε μία ακόμη επέμβαση στο ταλαιπωρημένο αριστερό του γόνατο πιθανώς να υποβληθεί στα τέλη της σεζόν ο Τζοέλ Εμπίντ. Οι ενοχλήσεις και το πρήξιμο δεν έχουν εγκαταλείψει τον 31χρονο σέντερ, ο οποίος έχει παίξει σε μόλις 19 παιχνίδια φέτος έχοντας 23,8 πόντους, 8,2 ριμπάουντ και 4,5 ασίστ κατά μέσο όρο.
«Το πάμε μέρα με τη μέρα. Αν η κατάσταση επιδεινωθεί, τότε πρέπει να κάνεις κάτι γι’ αυτό. Δεν είναι αρκετό αν δεν μπορείς να είσαι σταθερά παρών», δήλωσε πριν από λίγο καιρό ο Καμερουνέζος άσος, που και πέρσι έπαιξε σε μόλις 39 ματς λόγω ρήξης μηνίσκου στο αριστερό γόνατο.
Όπως έκαναν γνωστό οι Σίξερς, το γόνατο του MVP του 2023 πρήστηκε ξανά, με αποτέλεσμα να πρέπει να υποβληθεί σε νέο κύκλο εξετάσεων. Αυτό σημαίνει ότι όλα τα σενάρια είναι ανοιχτά, ακόμη και αυτό του χειρουργείου, αφού ούτως ή άλλως η φετινή χρονιά μοιάζει χαμένη για το franchise της Πενσυλβάνια.
Πράγματι, παρά τις καλές προσθήκες που έκαναν το καλοκαίρι, οι Σίξερς έχουν ρεκόρ 20-36, βρίσκονται εκτός play-ins στην Ανατολή και αριθμούν επτά συνεχόμενες ήττες, έχοντας πληγωθεί από τους πολλαπλούς τραυματισμούς του Εμπίντ αλλά και άλλων παικτών.
