Ο Ολυμπιακός δεν πτοήθηκε από την τεράστια απουσία του Αλεξάνταρ Ατανασίεβιτς και τον τραυματισμό του Μίταρ Τζούριτς, ο Τζον Γκόρντον Πέριν βγήκε μπροστά και ο Ολυμπιακός πήρε τεράστια "καθαρή" νίκη (3-1) κόντρα στην Γκίζεν.

Ο Ολυμπιακός κατέβηκε στο "Μελίνα Μερκούρη" χωρίς τον πρώτο σκόρερ του τη φετινή σεζόν και ίσως τον κορυφαίο παίκτη ανάμεσα σε ένα πλήρες ρόστερ, όμως ο Τζον Γκόρντον Πέριν ντύθηκε Αλεξάνταρ Ατανασίεβιτς και έδωσε την τεράστια νίκη στους νταμπλούχους Ελλάδας με 3-1 επί της Γκίζεν.

Άξιοι συμπαραστάτες του Καναδού ήταν ο αρχηγός των "ερυθρόλευκων, Τράβιτσα, που μαζί με τον Παγένκ παρέδωσαν μαθήματα του πώς παίζεται σωστά ο πρώτος χρόνος, ο διεθνής Έλληνας ακραίος, Ραφαήλ Κουμεντάκης και ο Μίταρ Τζούριτς μέχρι να αποχωρήσει με μικροτραυματισμό στο τρίτο σετ.

Το σύνολο του Αντρέα Γκαρντίνι έδειξε ψυχικά αποθέματα και ότι η φετινή σεζόν μπορεί να τον βρει να κάνει το επόμενο βήμα στο Champions League πόλο.

Μάλιστα, αξίζει να σημειωθεί ότι στο τέλος την παράσταση έκλεψε ο νεαρός πασαδόρος των Πειραιωτών, Ματέο Χασμπάλα, που μπήκε για πρώτη φορά στο παιχνίδι στο τέταρτο σετ με το σκορ στο 25-24 υπέρ του Ολυμπιακού για να σερβίρει και με τον άσο του έδωσε το τρίποντο στην ομάδα του.

Με αυτή τη νίκη και σε συνδυασμό με το διπλό της Μόντσα στην έδρα της Φενέρμπαχτσε, οι γηπεδούχοι ανέβηκαν στη 2η θέση με τέσσερις πόντους, ενώ οι Γερμανοί παρέμειναν στο απόλυτο μηδέν.

Την επόμενη αγωνιστική ο Ολυμπιακός υποδέχεται τους Τούρκους στο "Μελίνα Μερκούρη" (04/12, 19:00), ενώ η Γκίζεν παίζει εντός με τον ιταλικό σύλλογο.

Το ματς

Ο Ολυμπιακός μπήκε πολύ δυνατά στο παιχνίδι. Ο Κουμεντάκης πήρε τον πρώτο πόντο, ενώ οι εύστοχες επιθέσεις των "ερυθρόλευκων" του έδωσαν το προβάδισμα από νωρίς με 6-2 και 8-4.

Οι Γερμανοί βρήκαν τα πατήματά τους, αρχικά μείωσαν σε 9-7 και στη συνέχεια ισοφάρισε σε 10-10, με τα δύο μπλοκ του Τράβιτσα να δίνουν εκ νέου διαφορά ασφαλείας στον πειραϊκό σύλλογο (18-15).

Με την απουσία του Ατανασίεβιτς ο Πέριν βγήκε μπροστά, με τον Καναδό ακραίο να είναι εκπληκτικός τόσο στην επίθεση, όσο και από το σερβίς, με αποτέλεσμα ο Ολυμπιακός να κλείσει το πρώτο σετ εππιτυχημένα (25-21), κάνοντας το 1-0.

Στο δεύτερο σετ οι Γερμανοί μπήκαν αλλαγμένοι, ήταν πιο συγκεντρωμένοι και πίεσαν τους Πειραιώτες και από το κέντρο.

Ο Πέριν συνέχισε το... βιολί του για να ισοφαρίσει σε 4-4, όμως η Γκίζεν μέχρι και το 8-9 είχαν τον έλεγχο του ρυθμού, ενώ προηγήθηκαν για πρώτη φορά στο ματς με +2 αμέσως μετά (8-10).

Με το σκρο στο 10-13 ο Γακρντίνι κάλεσε time out για να αφυπνίσει τους παίκτες του, κάτι που λειτούργησε, με τον Ολυμπιακό να μειώνει σε 15-16 και 18-19.

Πέριν και Παγένκ έφεραν στα ίσια το ματς (22-22), οι φιλοξενούμενοι δεν εκμεταλλεύτηκαν το set point τους (23-24), με αποτέλεσμα το δεύτερο σετ να οδηγηθεί τουλάχιστον στους 26 πόντους.

Εκεί η Γκίζεν είπε "ευχαριστώ" στο "ερυθρόλευκο" λάθος, έκανε το 24-26 και ισοφάρισε σε 1-1

Στο τρίτο σετ οι νταμπλούχοι Ελλάδας μπήκαν όπως στην αρχή του αγώνα, δηλαδή δυνατά και με πλουραλισμό σε άκρα και κέντρο.
